Too bad wooly not around to read this.
Also, two questions:
1. Do they have a problem with "POC" cooking "white" food? Like if a black person owned a hot dog stand is that a problem?
2. Do they know that there are a bunch of "white" people in South and Central America? Are they allowed to cook "Latin" food or not?

Welp, I'm back... so....
1) First, I would argue none of you guys know these two girls, so I'm not sure how it could be argued that this hit you at home rather than an obscure incident in one of the most liberal cities in America.
2) Despite what the right wing propaganda link Acamp posted will tell you, most of the anger here wasn't about the girls being white and serving burritos. It's that they went down to Mexico and pried and prodded restaurants to get their trade secrets without their permission. That's what propaganda sites fail to recognize, is that "cultural appropriation" isn't so much PC sensitivities of white people, but rather anyone using another's culture to profit without consideration to the culture they are potentially competing against. An example would be putting a Chipotle next to a locally owned taco hut. Which is why I would argue that these two women didn't do anything wrong, as them taking Mexican restauranteurs trade secrets didn't harm them. As your average Portland burrito orderer isn't choosing between flying to Mexico for lunch or going to this restaurant. But that's not the point.

But if it makes y'all feel better to say that it was about them being white, then by all means go ahead.
Stop. There's no "trade secrets" to burrito making.Despite what the right wing propaganda link Acamp posted will tell you, most of the anger here wasn't about the girls being white and serving burritos. Yes there are. Taco Bell and Chiptole know them all. That's why they're the best.
We can probably just narrow that down to Taco Bell, can we not? Chipotle has to steal the trade secrets regarding health and Salmonella prevention before they can be in the same category.

It takes some time to find the correct ratio of water to meat for their taco filling, so yeah some corporate espionage had to take place

The SJW inquisitors did not stop there and have taken their mob mentality to the streets, targetting other white-owned businesses guilty of the same crime. A list has now been circulating on the web of white-owned “appropriative” businesses, featuring some of Portland’s top restaurants.
Do you even read? They did not "prod restaurants for trade secrets without their permission" LOL ... they simply asked some questions and people were happy to volunteer information.
Second, it's not even about Kook's burritos. It's about the larger issue noted in the article that you ignore:
So they literally made a list of white owned restaurants to harass/troll/otherwise try to destroy via fake reviews, etc. But please, keep living under your rock where political correctness has "no consequences" for people... there are 60 restaurant owners in Portland just trying to make a living that disagree. And notice that no one is complaining about a black guy running a French restaurants, a Latino guy running an Italian restaurants, or a Chinese guy owning an Irish pub. It's exclusively evil white people that get targeted.
If you're a white person, you have no business running a restaurant that serves Asian, Latin, African, or Indian cuisine.
That's according to the creators of a "white-owned appropriative restaurants" list, which accuses several Oregon establishments of engaging in cultural appropriation—a tool of "a white supremacist culture."
Yeah, you guys are right.
It's not a secret, though... Taco Bell already told everybody that the trick to making your Grade F meat palatable and better than any standard mom-and-pop burrito place is to put sand in the meet.
That little mystery crunch when you're eating Taco Bell always feels familiar... that's because it's the same as you get when you eat food on the beach and sand gets involved.
Yeah, I had to read this:
...several times to realize what I was reading. Unbelievable.

Wooly, I'm confused. If the girls didn't do anything wrong, then why were the targeted and forced to close? According to you, it isn't because they are white girls serving burritos...but because?
No. Open up the link I posted. A common misconception about "cultural appropriation" is that it's a bunch of PC brats getting mad at Whitey for eating Pho, not the case. The concern in this case by many of the people that chose to not eat there, was that the two women admitted to going down to Mexico and "peeking in kitchens" and prying cultural info in order to come back and profit from it. As I noted originally, I disagree with the premise because the Mexicans weren't harmed imo, but it is a different argument than the one portrayed in the original alt right fear monger article.
I still don't understand what cultural appropriation is either. It seems like some nonsense term where I'm guilted into not enjoying other cultures because whiteness.
Not so, if you read the article I posted your would see two things.
1) They were not "happy to volunteer" their trade secrets. Quite the opposite actually and that is per the direct quotes from the two women. Their quotes are what caused the uproar.
2) Most of the push back, despite the hand picked tweets from a heavily alt right leaning publication, were actually regarding the use of the trade secrets of the Mexican people they observed on their trip. This is a far different then what the small amount of weirdos following the trolls you mentioned. There also is zero connection to you or Acamp from this story. Neither of you know them or eaten at their establishment. So my original comments of it not being as widespread as media portrays, isn't proven incorrect because of an obscure incident in Portland.
Finally, and I'll go here from the start, as last time we spoke about this issue you got pretty heated. Called me names, etc. I'm not arguing from a place of anger here, so before we get there, let's agree to keep the volume low. We're both adults and neither of us are "living under a rock". So let's be respectful of each other.

See, more restaurants should take a page from Taco Bell and use all natural ingredients! Sand is created by Mother Nature, pure organic.
I don't know what "meet" is, but it sounds a bit like leek, so it's probably healthy...especially if Taco Bell is using it![]()
Bullshit. That's called capitalism, not cultural appropriation. If you're not trying to figure out how to make your craft better and learn what your competition is doing, then you really should be pushing TSP reports in a cubicle where you're safeguarded from the world.

Not directed towards you, Wooly, even though I still think you're a turd sandwich.
