I don't see Memories Pizza as a PC issue. We may simply disagree here, but I think that is a legitimate civil rights issue. Regardless of what side someone would argue for, or against, I find it hard to believe people would see that as based in political correctness. Do you feel that all LGBT issues are PC issues? If so, then not much to debate there. We just fundamentally disagree.

They... small town, clueless people... made the mistake of answering a "gotcha" hypothetical question from a reporter about serving a gay wedding. They never once discriminated against anyone, never once denied service to a single homosexual person. If they did, the law would have dealt with the civil rights issue.

But you and your PC bros think the appropriate response is to destroy their livelihoods and business through guerrilla warfare even though they never once violated anyone's rights. To be clear, they said they'd serve anyone but per their religious stance probably wouldn't want to participate in a gay wedding. Phrased perfectly from a media critic's critique of the reporting and subsequent PC lynch mob:
The owners of Memories Pizza, the O'Connor family, did not willingly seek out controversy, deny service to a gay person or couple, or even go out on a limb to suggest that they would. No, they merely responded to a question from Alyssa Marino, a local reporter for ABC 57 News who had come to their shop in search of a story.

So you think the appropriate response to answering a hypothetical question is extra-judicial justice in the form of:
1) Death threats.
2) Online harassment.
3) Phone sabotage.

SMH.

And the PC aspect of it is that provocateur Crowder goes and does this with Muslim businesses:
<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RgWIhYAtan4?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

But none of them suffer any harassment like Memory Pizza because it's not PC to harass a Muslim adhering to religious beliefs. That would make you an "Islamaphobe" and "bigot." SJWs are only willing to go after white Christians...

...white Christians that never denied anyone service (like the Muslims did in that video), and never violated anyone's rights.

Not like any of this will go anywhere with wooly... but for the general dialogue: The campus director before I got here was fired for not caving to PC movements like those I laid out in earlier posts. This was before I came on board with my current University but my wife was here and I heard all about it. Also, a Dean was also forced out last year for standing by his feelings on marriage issues... it happens. I have also detailed my personal experiences before in public schools... it's not 'just like those flower power teachers of old"...

Stuff like this happens, those aligned with PC are empowered, those who aren't, and have the nerve to speak up, are often targeted.

Professor who tweeted against PC culture is out at NYU | New York Post

I think that's pretty unfair to make me sound like I'm being u reasonable with the "not like it can go anywhere with Wooly comment". I've been very respectful and don't deserve that.

Secondly, I'm confused. Your wife worked at NYU? Doesn't sound like you actually know this man first hand. Sounds like you are just taking that articles opinion. Furthermore, I relented long ago that you certainly see this kind of stuff occasionally and especially in academia, as we always have since the dawn of time. But how does this single incident of someone you didn't know first hand disprove that it's not widespread? I mean, by the very definition of "widespread" it should happen all the time right? At least that's what Twitter and Facebook tell us. That's what Shapiro and Milo tell us. I saw a video yesterday that satired schools by doing a skit that PC culture literally led to a student being killed. Isn't that the reality they are selling us?

I said as much because you have dismissed much of what has been put forth to you here... So I made it clear this post wasn't directly to you (searching for conflict or argument) as yes, I doubt it would matter to you one bit at this point... but rather it was for and to others who may be reading the dialogue wondering...

Whoa!!! Back up cowboy, I didn't say that I agree with any of the PC topics like safe spaces, white privilege, etc. So cool it with the attacks. I certainly didn't ever tweet or post anything to attack those people, so quit putting words in my mouth.

Secondly, It's not a PC issue... sorry if you disagree, but I don't see it that way. They said they wouldn't serve gay people and gay people got pissed. They weren't "triggered" or felt like they were attacked by "micro-aggressions". It was a legitimate dispute that brought the topic into the forefront. I'm sure people on both sides said a bunch of stupid stuff on social media, but it doesn't make it PC issue.

Nope, I certainly don't. But that kind of stuff came from both sides and again... this wasn't about privilege, or aggression, or safe spaces or sensitivity or respect. It was about whether gay people should legally be able to be denied service. A legitimate argument to be discussed either way. Certainly not some off beat crazy topic that nobody could possibly be offended by. Under this definition, any civil rights issue could be twisted into "PC non-sense".

So because I disagreed? Cool... I suppose we should all just never debate anything then. I relented some points to you and calmly and respectfully debated. So it's not like a single post of mine was in bad faith. Seems to me that my biggest fault is simply having a difference of opinion.

Ironic considering that you guys are telling me that people not accepting other opinions is the problem plaguing society in the first place.

I have just been saying that your comment about me being unreasonable ("it will never go anywhere with wooly") was unwarranted. Since I feel like I've been trying to post in good faith.

I certainly didn't do anything to trigger Lax like I did. He straight up insulted me. ha

How is it not?

1. White, Christians answer hypothetical question... promptly have business destroyed by SJWs.

2. Muslim businesses actually refuse service people based on their sexual orientation, suffer no consequences or harassment.

PC says you can't be mean to brown people but you should be mean to privileged white people whenever you have the opportunity... and that's exactly what happened.

To answer your questions, it wouldn't be any different. The same argument would be there. But it would be an argument regarding bigotry, not one of PC. They are different issues.

Then theres also the unfortunate fact that the video you posted is a big charade. soooo....

Probably much more common than people getting fired for their non-PC stances are people getting passed over for promotions or other job opportunities. There are a number of fields (academia, the US government, Hollywood, etc.) where you either toe the PC/hard leftist line, or your career will often stall.

Wooly, did you just complain about someone insulting you? Really? If you're just pointing out, fine. But if you complain, then y'all better find some mirrors to look into and start contemplating what you see.

Indeed. I was, and continue, to be quite polite without any insults. I'm not pissed, just pointing out that me simply disagreeing that PC Culture is a widespread issue "triggered" a lot of posters in this thread. There's quite an irony there, no?

If no, then are you saying that because I've gotten in arguments in the past anyone has the right to insult me whenever they want? That's a pretty interesting concept.

I don't know much about this story. How was their business destroyed by SJWs?

Ha... no... they closed for a short period, was given $842,387 that was raised through a GoFundMe site and is as popular as ever. This event was the best thing that ever happened to them.

As for the initial debate over his daughter’s statements that briefly led to the closure of his business, O’Connor said that the media attention actually helped business due to the “advertisement that it created.”

“It definitely helped us. I’m not going to say that it didn’t,” he said. “The Lord works the way he works. I pretty much just let him deal with it.”

A fundraiser that was started by TheBlaze TV host Dana Loesch and contributor Lawrence Billy Jones III ended up bringing in more than $844,000 to help the family out. O’Connor said that the money was, in part, used for bills, and was given to his church and charity.

“It’s been a blessing,” he said.
Christian Owner of Memories Pizza Responds to Claim That His Shop ‘Catered’ a Gay Wedding – TheBlaze

But as I said before, not a PC issue in my mind. But if someone chooses to think it is one, they certainly weren't hurt by the incident.

In all seriousness, this pizza "story" is exactly why I stay away from stories like this and why this thread is usually trash.

The Life Cycle of the Average Post on This Thread:

Step 1: Trash reporter presents a dumb biased story.
Step 2: Wait for a dumb reactionary MINORITY of a certain political spectrum to retaliate.
Step 3: Shock Jock "political genius" a la Shapiro or Young Turks presents a "Dummies on the other side are doing this to us and they're ruining this country!" story.
Step 4: Wait for a dumb reactionary MINORITY of the opposite political spectrum to retaliate and/or make themselves into martyrs.
Step 5: Both sides are further convinced that 50% of the country is crazy. Well-informed citizenry is dwindling and basic humanity is further eroded.
Step 6: ??????????
Step 7: Media Profit
Step 8: Memes
Step 9: Pseudo intellectuals on football message boards use this fabricated nonsense as evidence of their viewpoint's superiority in an echo chamber.
Step 10: Grey considers unsubbing from this thread but decides the schadenfreude is worth it.. barely.

White Restaurant Owners Served Burritos, So SJWs Forced Them Out Of Business | Conservative News

This stuff never impacts people's lives in the real world... never, ever...

but seriously.... L.O.L. at this from so many angles...

Too bad wooly not around to read this.

Also, two questions:
1. Do they have a problem with "POC" cooking "white" food? Like if a black person owned a hot dog stand is that a problem?
2. Do they know that there are a bunch of "white" people in South and Central America? Are they allowed to cook "Latin" food or not?

You guys are more triggered than the morons who complained about them in the first place.

Thanks, I laughed at the story on whole as I stated... there was no triggering or cliff jumping... but the community reaction made it worth sharing here imo.
