Interesting couple of days spent in the Greenville, SC area this week being surrounded by Clemson fans.
Two topics that really stood out to me:
* They are not happy with the regression of Trevor Lawrence and the overall offense this season. They felt like even though they destroyed teams, the offense never really looked in sync. They also felt like Lawrence kind of mailed it in this season and couldn't just turn it on for the playoffs. It's funny to hear their perspective on this.
* They are scared of their game at South Bend next season. The game being in November has them really, really nervous.
Literally by every measure says otherwise. Maybe our defense was able to slow things down and keep us in it for a window of time, but it was like 20-3 or something at half. We had very little success on third down and with 250 total yards we weren't moving the ball. So even if Love stays in and the D was able to keep it close, there was no sign of offensive production that could win the game.
In 2015 Notre Dame played no where near a perfect game. If Chris Brown doesn’t fumble at the 2 yard line the history of Modern Clemson football would be a different narrative.

I’ll bite... was it meant to go to the outside? My memory is that he just didn’t have much of a chance on the 2 pt conversion if that’s what you were referring to...We had them beat and I agree with your statement 100... The eye of the tiger and Drogo was down for the count In hurricane conditions on the road.
Maybe... just maybe If Kizer wasn't so damn arrogant and ran the play the way It was intended... We win.

I have to say that merely stating our defense was "holding it's own" against Clemson before Love went down is being disingenuous. They were stonewalling them.
Lawrence was running for his life, Etienne was finding zero space and their tandem of Higgins and Ross weren't getting open in time.
It wasn't just Love going down, but Okwara and Gilman were also lost for a time as well. Lea backed off and Clemson took advantage of the lull and grew an insurmountable lead.
I do agree, that ND was probably going to lose that game regardless, but I imagine we'd look at things pretty differently with a 3-17 or 10-23 loss, rather than a 3-30 one.
I mean I get it - it will be cold. But the Irish haven't necessarily shown the propensity to take advantage of poor weather conditions. Clemson wouldn't really be at a disadvantage. I just want to see a good, competitive game.
To summarize........lots of "ifs".
Neither of those games will have a thing to do with this game. A lot of the players on the roster won't have even played against Clemson in the playoff game, but regardless now that they're experienced they should be better.
You will see almost all zone blocking from an O line that was considerably better than two years ago and will be intact and better this coming season. You will also see a different Book than what you saw in the playoff game. Our D will be stout again. Both of our lines will play Clemson to a stalemate which will keep us in the game.
Forget the snow or cold temps. This game is November 7. Highs in the 40's and 50's with lows upper 30's. Unless TD Jesus plans something special weather shouldn't be a factor.
last ten year average for 7pm on Nov 7 is 40 degrees, with wind gusts around 7 mph. Certainly not warm but not exactly cold by any means either. Typically next to no precipitation historical on that day either.

Unless we tank next season, the Clemson game will most certainly be a night game. I can tell you the Florida State game was cold as fucking balls in 2018, although not all November games are the same in South Bend. Florida State certainly couldn't handle it, even if they had been a good team that year.
What in the holy F is he doing. In terms of 2019 RBs, he was the biggest "freakshow".
Outside of Lawrence he's by far my #1 concern. I'd rather have Tee Higgins back in a heartbeat.
