I really like Parker. The article was great! It will be nice to have a bit of a dandy on the o-line. Especially when you consider what an assassin he is. What is the term? Controlled sociopath, when he is on the field?

Parker Boudreaux can gargle bread

That is French bread!

pain {noun}

pain {m}

bread {noun}

e.g., La production de pain artisanal était très supérieure à celle du pain industriel.

The quantity of traditional bread was far larger than that of industrial bread.

Parker Boudreaux sleeps with a night light. Not because he's scared of the dark, but because the dark is scared of him.

Fear of spiders is called arachnophobia, fear of tight spaces is called claustrophobia, and fear of Parker Boudreaux Norris is just plain logic.

290 is a substantial amount of weight. But put this in perspective Saquon Barkley from PSU just 2 days ago who is a RB, power cleaned 390, and he is much smaller than Parker and weighs only 222. That kid is a freak! Heres video

Lol, thanks. More of asking how unusual this was compared to other 4 :s: linemen coming out of high school.

Saquan Barkley recently cleaned 390, which is insane: Watch Penn State RB Saquon Barkley power-clean 390 pounds « Big Ten Network

However, there are some differences between that and what Parker does. Parker power cleans, meaning he got the bar way up to his chest almost standing (versus Saquan nearly getting into squat position). (Power) Clean + (Push) Press 290 is also impressive although I'm not sure how this compares to college lineman / other top incoming linemen -- But, (push) press means he is using his legs + shoulders to push the barbell overhead (compared to a jerk whereby you're mostly using legs to get the bar overhead).

To give you a reference point, I could probably C+P about 210 and can C+J about 230 (I'm 5'8" 185). In the video, it actually looks like he does something between a push press and a jerk as he both gets himself under the bar and appears to use his shoulders.

BAD FORM - DON'T WANT

Impressive as heck, but completely different lift. Saquon sure as shit isn't going to put that above his head.

I was going to comment that Parker did more of a jerk motion, but I see you have that covered!

Power cleans and squat cleans have damn near become the same thing though. In fact, what I was always taught was a power clean is a squat clean, and to most I know, they are one in the same. You still catch the clean in the same place as a power clean (although some catch the bar very deep, a true squat clean in that case), but then complete a full squat with the weight.

Saquon's video that's labeled a power clean is kinda odd. He catches in a squat clean position and then does not complete a front squat. Some would argue it's a squat clean, but the two are either pretty similar or one in the same in many circles. It's overall the most athletic lift in the biz though. (And I've got a kid who is 6'5" and can get over 300!)

SecondPull_PowerClean_SquatClean.jpg

Pic to explain original differences between the two cleans. Power clean you catch in a power position, squat cleans you catch it deeper, or you catch in power and ride the weight into a full frontal squat.

Pic is definitely not me. I can't grow that sweet stache mullet combo.

He's already a fan favorite. ND fans got a weird thing for this kid, maybe because he eats it up. Still more excited to see him on the field even though he's different.
