The stadium might be 40% UGA fans, and yet:

- If UGA wins, we're going to hear nothing but "ND can't hang with the big dogs, they're irrelevant."

- If UGA loses, they'll talk about how UGA is down or how they don't care about that, because they have the SEC championship to play for still

The irony will be wonderful.

The second one sounds MUCH more palatable.

Current weather report:

Upper 60's at kick off with light winds out of the east.

Might dip into the upper 50's by the end of the game.

0% chance of rain.

Perfect day for football.

That's chilly to us Southerners - they might be wearing long sleeves.

Seeing your last three posts tells me you're either an idiot or a troll. Maybe both like the guy in the Georgia video.

Quit being emotional. Some of us dont have time to sit on a message board 24/7.

How bad are D is? Against Temple three sacks, numerous hurries, 11 tackles for loss, and held running game to 2.7 average. That's bad? Hilarious.

Oh, so one game erases a putrid defense from the last few years??? Good Lord, you're emotional. If you are that easy of a sell. I can only imagine your reaction to BVG after the Michigan game that spawned a million memes. You probably started the meme didnt u?

Does anyone have any idea who Fromm's back up is?

To me, keeping him healthy has to be paramount for UGA. If he goes down, ND can probably put 8 men in the box for the rest of the game and pressure him and the RB's into submission

Brice Ramsey. Almost did a grad transfer, but decided to stay this year.

4-star, .95 rating in the class of 2013.

Take it easy, I don't think he's sipping on the Kool-Aide just yet. It's a new season, new coordinators. We appear to be improved, but we do need some more time to see how consistent we can be. Lets give this defense a fair shake and treat them as their own entity without going back to last season.

Word. This is a completely different defense. Each year is different but different D Coordinator and position coaches ensure this is nothing like we had last year. I'm sure people will reference last year anytime they can but it's probably in the best interest of our fandom to move on from the abomination from last year.

Brice Ramsey, who was 0-2 with 2 picks in mop up time during the last game.

I do to know what we held back against Temple or what, but with our line, RBs and tight ends, I'd pound them on the ground until they prove they can stop us. Go with our strength, take pressure off Wimbush and set up play action deep balls for later.
This is all predicated on not falling behind early by multiple scores, of course.

Don't know about anyone else but we are still 72 hours away from game time and I'm already tired of all the talk about this one. I'm ready for the game now. Let's play already.

I see a lot of play action coming this game if UGA is able to establish that run early

Honestly, this is a game plan of many, many football teams if the run game is productive early. Not really a surprise.

Temple isn't a Top 25 team but they aren't the Div 1aa fodder teams most of the ranked teams played this week, the teams that Power 5 conferences build there stats and rankings on in the early weeks of the season.

dwshade provided substance Irishize while your comeback was a BS deflection to avoid substance.

This was Game I in a new defensive scheme, with a new DC, several new assistants, and mostly the same talent of last year YET that mix group posted better numbers than BVG's setup did. BVU had 17 TFLs in 4 games last year. Elko's guy got 11 in his FIRST game.

I'm not comparing the '17 D to a Barry Alvarez ND D but Alvarez did have Vinny Cerrato, a FULL-Time, surperb, recruiting coordinator feeding him NCAA All-American talent. Mike Elko has to work with BVG's material.

ND's 11 TFLs ranks ND 7th among team playing 1-A opponents. When you consider that PSU scored 14 against AKRON and Auburn had one more than ND against Ga Southern, ND is realistically 5th. ND's 11 TFLs were made by 11 different players. Fans raved about Hayes but 8 guys had the same number as he did and 2, Coney and the much maligned Trumbetti had more.

ND's 3 sacks ranks ND 18th among teams playing 1-A opponents.

ND's 85 rushing yds allowed is 26th among teams playing 1-A opponents.

ND's 2.30 rushing yds/play is 13th

ND's 245 yds passing yds allowed is 51st among teams playing 1-A opponents but playing between the 20's doesn't count, does it?

ND's 54.3% complete rate allowed ranks ND 27th among teams playing 1-A opponents.

ND's 2 TDs allowed ranks ND 41st among teams playing 1-A opponents. HAD ND allowed 1 less TD pass they'd be ranked 21st.

ND's 29.4%, 5 for 17, allowed 3rd down conversion rate was 23rd among teams playing 1-A opponents.

ND's 50%, 1-2, allowed 4th down conversion rate was #1 among teams playing 1-A opponents.

ND's 3 passes defended was 64th among teams playing 1-A opponents. HAD ND defended one more pass they would have jumped to 46th, two more and they would be 34th.

CFStats , where the ranking above came from, doesn't report QBHs, QuarterBack Hurries, but UND does. ND had 4 in the first Elko game. Last season first game under BVG ND had 1. ND had 12 had year in BVG's 4 games with zero being recorded in the Duke loss that ended BVG's career with ND.

Actually watching the game I didn't see anywhere the volume of missed tackles, or bad angles on tackles, or players frequently out of position that I saw with past BVG defenses.

But then I wasn't drinking while watching the game nor watching or posting with a pre-disposition. I saw a marked improvement but a long ways to go to compare to the Alvarez days.

It was Game One of the Elko era. I have to agree with dwshade, Irishize. You're either trolling or clueless. Put some substance into your posts instead of glittering generalities and deflections.

While I appreciate your reaearch & name calling, I just want to clarify: Are you saying after ONE game, the defense can be announced as having arrived & it was just a matter of replacing BVG that will erase a 4-8 defense.

Come on man, i was as thrilled with the outcome of game one as anybody but let's not start penciling us into the CFP just yet. You're using stats from one game in an effort to show an apples-to-apples comparison to the BVG era? You're better than that. I'm thankful for Elko but I also am realistic that he is stuck with the platyer personnel he inherited.

I'll DM you for further follow up.

Does anyone know why Boykin, Sanders, or Javon Mckinley didn't see any action at all on Saturday even Finke?

I woulda thought Finke and sanders would have gotten a few looks

McKinley did not play as a punishment

Will probably be under 50,000 Irish fans at the game Saturday night.

77,622 is the new capacity.

Doesn't roll off the tongue like 80,795 or 59,075.
