Glad to see no one was banned last night. Hopeful for some great news today. We have to get news today, right?

Would you rather have rusty DD and KR or she'll-shocked freshman justin Brent and Nick Watkins (EDIT) when the game is on the line... No contest, IMO!!!!! They don't start, but you play them if needed!
That's a red herring. Justin Brent will not be seeing the field "when the game is on the line." That would be Prosise, Fuller, Carlisle, Brown, and Robinson. As much as DD would be an upgrade to that list, it's a bit disingenuous to paint the choice as one between "a rusty DD versus Justin Brent."

Knowing this, and this is just an opinion, I wouldn't be looking for any announcement from ND today. The DD tweets were probably about going out and had nothing to do with the situation. Just a guess, and I hope I'm wrong.

Maybe it's not accurate, but Im not sure how you can say I was being disingenuous. I'm not sure how far-fetched it is to say Brent will play considering he and Robinson are our only big-bodied outside receivers (Brown is still pretty slim vans Procise is a slot guy). I was responding to a post that said that they should hold DD out altogether. My point was that if something happened (say an outside receiver broke his already broken thumb) and you needed to use a depth guy, I would much rather have a talented vet than a newbie.

Disingenuous was the wrong word. Misguided? I think there's 0% chance that Brent sees the field tomorrow with our without DD.

There's no way they'd make an announcement on the suspended players a day before the biggest game.

I question anyone who goes to the "club" past the age of 20.

I'm surprised that no other fb players were there. Thursday night of game week is usually when the fb team goes out to club fever. However, that is usually further into the season and they have the itch to go out

Stepping beyond arbitrarily holding him out altogether... If we are down in the 4th quarter, or if someone is not playing great, I don't see how you keep DD out.

And maybe KR doesn't take over covering Funchess (unless Luke and Riggs are getting killed), but it seems like a rusty KR is a pretty good matchup against a third receiver!

And if Ishaq were back, you could stick him in on third and long, and tel him to try and kill the QB.

Kelly seems to agree.

but this is 'merica, we have freedoms. They can do as they please

We will definitely have a press conference called to reveal the findings right? Or will ND just release the findings on it's website and walk away?

I think we agree, we're just talking in circles. If DD and KR are cleared, I think they should both play. I just disagreed with your comparison to Brent as the "DD alternative," because we have lots of other DD alternatives on the roster before we'd be forced to go with Brent.

Experience talking here? :)

Indeed.

Upon arrival at Ft Bliss, back in the last millennium, we were shown a black and white 1950's training film on STD's and we were warned of the perils of Juárez.

Then a chaplain gave us a brief fire and brimstone morality sermon about that den of depravity across the river. He closed by saying,"I know a lot of you young men, particularly when under the influence of alcohol, believe you are immune to the horrors of disease. Well you aren't, so at least think of your wives or girl friends. When you venture into strange, dark, wet places wear a raincoat and galoshes."

I laughed aloud at the minister's double entendre. My reaction drew scowls from the powers that be and puzzled looks from those seated near me. One 18 year old next to me quipped, "Stupid fool, ... raincoat, galoshes ... everybody knows it doesn't rain in El Paso."

But it definitely was moist in Juárez.

The first weekend 3 guys were scratching like crazy. They were deliced and restricted to the use of one designated toilet which was marked "OFF LIMITS" to the non-afflicted.

One 18 year old flew home over the 4th of July weekend to marry his high school sweetheart. We threw him a bachelor party entertainment the night before his flight. Even gave him a live present. Sunday night about 4 am he woke me up complaining it burned when he peed. I told him not to drink anything, skip breakfast, go straight to the dispensary, and then to the chaplain.

"Why should I see the chaplain?"

"Do you really want to call your wife of two days by yourself ... to tell her you have The Clap?"

Turns out he did. Her lawyer proved her premarital blood test showed she didn't before the wedding.

Of the 27 guys I was stationed with at Ft. Bliss, 24 had one form of STD or another.

Three guys, me and the two married guys accompanied by their wives were the exceptions.

That was experience enough for me.

So its almost 9:30 EST, should we just assume that nothing will be released today? If the meetings did not occur last night, then there is no reason to assume that they would convene today either....correct? Friday of a football weekend...not much gets done on campus.

It's EDT. EST won't come around until November 2.

I don't know why we'd assume that. The original press conference was on a Friday afternoon, so why would this announcement need to happen before 9:30 or never?

We don't know that.

Except maybe an announcement directly impacting said football weekend.

I find that one funny, on many levels. What would lead you to believe that the council actually met last night? I think people have misinterpreted DD's tweets.

I'll bet 1 billion vbucks that we hear something official today. No info, just have a feeling.

Don't get me wrong, you're probably right. If I were a betting man I'd guess we don't hear anything, but it wouldn't totally shock me either.

IF the decision has been made and IF we are getting some players back for Saturday, you make the announcement as late as possible.
