Don't get me wrong, you're probably right. If I were a betting man I'd guess we don't hear anything, but it wouldn't totally shock me either.

Although I do find it strange that DD's father deleted his tweets. Either he came to his senses, he got good information, or he came to a realization that his son was guilty. Time will tell, I guess.

IF the decision has been made and IF we are getting some players back for Saturday, you make the announcement as late as possible.

And resort to gamesmanship? I don't know that the university would do that....although, one can argue that the OSU announcement can be categorized as such.

Yes. I would wait until 30 minutes before kickoff to announce that any of the suspended players are back. Buts that is just me.

Knowing this, and this is just an opinion, I wouldn't be looking for any announcement from ND today. The DD tweets were probably about going out and had nothing to do with the situation. Just a guess, and I hope I'm wrong.

The positive tweets started before 10pm. Seems early for the club, but what do I know.

And yes, I realize it's beyond silly to be obsessing over the nebulous tweets of a college student ...

You say "resort" to gamesmanship like gamesmanship is bad. Gamesmanship is the best. Gamesmanship is not beneath anybody; it's an essential ingredient to competition.

So ... it will be revealed at halftime when the Honor Committee is recognized for their work?

You make the announcement right before practice today. I think people would notice them on the practice field.

Man you want to talk about things that kill the stadium atmosphere...

Dear Notre Dame Stadium,

Nobody cares about the really super awesome omelette lady from South Dining Hall. Recognize her in an appropriate setting, i.e. a dinner or some such thing with her family members and others who might GAF.

Kthanks,

Obvioiusly the Tweets are not definitive of anything, and you interpret them at your own risk, but he is not posting casually right now--and hasn't been for days.

When asked how he was doing he specifically mentioned " . . . not doing nothing with my fellow 4." So he's not pretending that the is not thinking about the honor code meeting.

So then the night the meeting is supposed to happen he posts some cryptic super smiley faces and a "so hyped..." message.

That does not point it being about something else minor. Maybe he is just blowing off steam, but there is nothing to suggest he is just casually positng about his day at this point. Add that to his father's erasing negative Tweets, and you have something.

We'll see! It is certainly better than a cryptic negative post.

Man you want to talk about things that kill the stadium atmosphere...

I'm in the camp that believes the process is the process and shouldn't be expedited because football players are involved. None of these guys are "innocent". They are all guilty of varying degrees of honor code violations, so I'm okay with that part of it.

But what's confusing is the uncertainty regarding the date/time of the hearings. I read the honor code yesterday and it states that after the investigation...
"The chair may decide that a hearing would be warranted.... the chair will then write a letter to the student(s) suspected of the violation. The letter shall describe the possible violation, state the known evidence (including witnesses and documents involved, if any), and state the time and place of the hearing."

BK said yesterday that hearings haven't taken place, but also seemed agitated that they hadn't. There are confidentiality rules re: the Honor Code process, but I find it hard to believe BK hasn't been given information on date/time of the hearings. One thought here is that the hearings were scheduled and then postponed due to any number of reasons hearings may be postponed listed in the Honor Code. Another thought is that even though the investigation ended last Thursday, it's taken seven days to organize all of the individual letters with evidence, witnesses, etc, and schedule all of the hearings. I think we've heard 20+ students involved, but who knows how wide spread this is and how many are actually being called in for hearings. It's certainly possible the players have not even received the "report" on their violations yet.

What I also find confusing is who is handling the hearings? The Honor Code seems to put all of the hearing onus on each departmental/school Honor Code committee. The traditional role of the University Honor Code committee is not to hold hearings, but to review departmental/school committee hearings/decisions and generally provide support/education/resources to the various departmental/school committees.

Did all of the academic dishonesty happen in the same department/school or was it spread out over multiple departments/schools? Does each department/school need to conduct their own hearings? I didn't find any language in the Honor Code that would call for the University HC committee to hold hearings, but maybe they step in when the incident encompasses multiple departments/schools?

I wish the process was more clear. The whole thing is confusing and I just want it to end. #BeatMichigan.

I'm surprised that no other fb players were there. Thursday night of game week is usually when the fb team goes out to club fever. However, that is usually further into the season and they have the itch to go out

It's called focus. They are dialed in and ready to Fock Michigan.

I think the key may be that they are treating it, in some ways, like one big "conspiracy," rather than a bunch of isolated cheating situations, in order to ensure the institutional control element.

You don't make any announcement and when they come out of the tunnel with the rest of the team the stadium will erupt. Crowd will be amp'd and scUM will suffer the consequences.

Indeed.

Upon arrival at Ft Bliss, back in the last millennium, we were shown a black and white 1950's training film on STD's and we were warned of the perils of Juárez.

Then a chaplain gave us a brief fire and brimstone morality sermon about that den of depravity across the river. He closed by saying,"I know a lot of you young men, particularly when under the influence of alcohol, believe you are immune to the horrors of disease. Well you aren't, so at least think of your wives or girl friends. When you venture into strange, dark, wet places wear a raincoat and galoshes."

I laughed aloud at the minister's double entendre. My reaction drew scowls from the powers that be and puzzled looks from those seated near me. One 18 year old next to me quipped, "Stupid fool, ... raincoat, galoshes ... everybody knows it doesn't rain in El Paso."

But it definitely was moist in Juárez.

The first weekend 3 guys were scratching like crazy. They were deliced and restricted to the use of one designated toilet which was marked "OFF LIMITS" to the non-afflicted.

One 18 year old flew home over the 4th of July weekend to marry his high school sweetheart. We threw him a bachelor party entertainment the night before his flight. Even gave him a live present. Sunday night about 4 am he woke me up complaining it burned when he peed. I told him not to drink anything, skip breakfast, go straight to the dispensary, and then to the chaplain.

"Why should I see the chaplain?"

"Do you really want to call your wife of two days by yourself ... to tell her you have The Clap?"

Turns out he did. Her lawyer proved her premarital blood test showed she didn't before the wedding.

Of the 27 guys I was stationed with at Ft. Bliss, 24 had one form of STD or another.

Three guys, me and the two married guys accompanied by their wives were the exceptions.

That was experience enough for me.

That's awesome. When I got there in 2012 they showed a slick video touting Fort Bliss as the premier installation in the Army, and then the CG and CSM both spoke and stressed that Juarez is strictly off limits, but had high hopes that someday Soldiers could visit that fair hamlet again.

That would be wonderful, except the blue hairs will have no clue. "WHO!? Who's Kevin Russell?"

Interesting angle, maybe ND's just been playing this card the whole time in response to Fred Flinstone and his non disclosure of injuries?! Think the committee is in on this? haha

True but the blue hairs are a minority and once they ask why the rest of the crowd is going bonkers, they will react with a solid, "Oh good!" and clap politely

I wonder about that... I think a lot of non-blue-hairs have been priced out of this game.

My experience with NFL games suggests that the common folk can ussually afford one game. Its the season tickets that aboslutely kill.

I think we'll see a rowdy crowd. It ussually isn't rowdy when (a) the game is small time or (b) we stink.

hearing Holtz going to be there can we confirm?
Confirmed.

Come out and support the Fighting Irish as they prepare to take on Michigan under the lights! The pep rally will kickoff with the Leprechaun, Cheerleaders, and Marching Band. Special guests include Coach Lou Holtz and the Golf Channel’s David Feherty.

Make sure you arrive early to hear 2010 Alum Pat McKillen perform hits from his album, the Red Headed Enemy, at 5:00 PM!
