I like Sam a lot too. I picture him as our next center. He just seems like he has that edge that inside linemen need.

Good Counsel: Notre Dame is getting a guard with the physical tools to excel and a frame with a lot more room to fill out, but Mustipher needs substantial work on his technique before he is ready to step on the field at the next level. Mustipher plays a little high, but the most troubling thing about him was his hand placement. He was always punching way too high, and he was caught holding multiple times. Because he can play too high at times, Mustipher is vulnerable to the bull rush.

I am actually glad to hear this. It makes some sense. It ties together good ratings with a few not so good reports.

I bet Sam works on this immediately. We will see how much better he looks in his senior season.

I actually am glad to see reports like this......my reasoning behind that is the fact that is when kids are technically sound in HS, its almost as if they've peaked, and have nothing more to learn. Sam has been beat at some camps by some highly talented kids, which is fine, it shows him what he needs to work on and needs to improve!!

Don't know if Sam is considering EE, but if he is, a spring and a fall camp and he will be planting most of those same guys on their backside.

Absolutely. Have zero doubts that HH will polish up SM in no time. Him getting abused a little during these camps are a good eye opener for young kids who perhaps lack self awareness. Just makes them more eager to recieve coaching.

The other thing to remember is that Big Sam is a weights warrior. He is already up to or above the average college lineman strength and that is part of why he shines even with lousy technique. When Hiestand gets his levers at the correct force-delivering angles --- WATCH OUT!!! I noticed that there was no picky concern about his feet. If they are athletically nimble, he's going to be better than I hoped. [which was already high].
