Good point about UCLA having 41K, but since it is a public university, ADA kicks in with a few other things and the state pays for extra assistance. This is actually not the case at ND. I did some serious research for a project in '06. Assistance was allowed and encouraged, but what UND offered at no charge was a drop in the bucket compared to what a public university offers, including optional private housing. I believe dorms are the only option for Freshmen at ND. So I can see where the conflict came from if that is truly the case. That is why Stanford (nearby) was not a good option as I believe it is private also.
