This'll definitely be an interesting one to monitor. Especially with Nelson supposedly close to deciding and in solid position with Braden Smith.

His ratings might not be as great as some might like but "dat offer list" is outstanding. He is a big young man as well. Would love to have him aboard.

I completely agree. I think TremendousUM has picked every kid in the Top 247 to go to Michigan and the same applies to the writers for the other individual sites.

I've noticed the same thing. I just disregard those program-specific analysts now.

Man, I hope so. I'm a terrible talent evaluator, but besides Braden Smith, Bars is my favorite OL that ND has a shot with, and that's including Nelson, who by all accounts is a stud. I really liked Bars's tape.

Bars is a better OT prospect than Braden Smith imo. Smith will play guard, Bars is a pure tackle all the way. Bars' rating is just fine, #107 player in the nation according to the 247 Composite, a 4* to all four of the sites, and a top 50 player to Rivals and a top 60 player to ESPN. His ratings seem just fine to me.

I think his ratings are good and is still early. And complaints on a four star offensive lineman would be silly.

Oh, maybe I worded that wrong. I could care less about any ratings. I was just saying that what is listed on the front page might not be up to par for those who are ratings guys. I personally just want our coaching staff to get the guys they have on high on their board, after that I look at offer lists, and this kid's is very elite.

The rivals update says that he hasn't decided where he's going yet but is going to sit down and decide soon. Wouldn't answer what schools he was deciding between but the writer speculated it was between the schools we already know. PSU, Tenn, Mich, and ND. It was a Vols writer doing the interview so Bars talked about why he liked Tenn so much. Impressed with Tenn fan base. Vic Wharton is doing some recruiting for them and Alex liked that. In the article he doesn't talk about ND that much. However I'm not sure that means much. He plays his cards close to the vest and if everybody I follow thinks we are in a good spot I'll follow.

my ann arbor buddy is echoing what we're hearing...his sources seems to be pointing him toward ND as well for what it's worth.

idk it's always nice when you get good news from other fan bases

It's hard to be very confident when you're still looking at ~1 month until a decision and it could go three different directions. Not that I doubt these unnamed 'sources' but it's not like we really have anything concrete to go on right now.

My theory is, and it's a wild one, that Bars has silently committed to ND coaches. This is the reason Hood hasn't beet 'tweeting' at him to commit. Book it!

I don't think Bars has twitter, actually

Edit: He does. Doesn't use it much.

Or the staff asked Hood to recruit only a few guys at the top of their board. If Nelson > Bars, that may be why we're seeing #QtoND but nothing for Bars.

We get Bars and Nelson soon. Closes out OL recruiting until Braden Smith decides something which won't be until January.

By that logic, the staff wouldn't have Braden Smith on the top of their board. Possible, but very unlikely. My theory stands! Lol.

IIRC, the staff projects Braden Smith at OT, but Nelson still seems to be the top OT on their board. It makes sense to ask the current commits to work on only a handful of top targets at various position groups; having a high school kid recruit multiple targets from the same position group could backfire in a number of ways.

Hood only started recruiting at Nelson because of all the activity with the #QtoOSU thing and Frazier because he tweeted about ND. Hood was tweeting at prospects yesterday because NDFister/Star69 told him too.

Fairly sure Braden Smith does not have Twitter.

Are you sure that Smith is not a OG? You don't have to dig for a source, but is this what you've heard? I have to believe the staff would not take all of Smith, Bars, and Nelson, no?

how is 3 OTs different from 3 OGs?

Braden Smith is a take regardless

Ugh. I had hoped his recent flurry of activity was guided by the staff, but that's a more plausible explanation. Was just spit-ballin'.

I'm sure it's in his thread somewhere. Probably someone's summary of a past TV. And yes, I think we'd take all three, but Smith isn't close to a decision.

Well Christian does seem confident... hopefully he decides sooner rather than later.

It's just not Christian who is confident either. Even Michigan fans know we are getting Bars. So does Sam Webb.

i love your confidence, but as I told my buddy we were supposedly the landing spot for bunting too and that didn't end the way we hoped it would, let's hope this one is a different story.

what does everyone think?

personally I think the 3 guys on the OL that we are supposed to be in really good shape for (Bars, Nelson, and Smith) are all takes no matter what the numbers game is position wise. Gotta keep building on the OL just like Bama has done the past 5 or 6 years.

Bars situation isn't the same as Bunting, Bunting visited Michigan before he decided
