I am staying in SB from the Thursday night until Sunday. I hope to do as many things as possible. I hope to take the stadium tour and attend the prep rally on the Friday.

If you have a few hours Indiana Dunes is nice time. I like to hit Corbys on Friday night and Linebackers around noon on game day. Post game it's packed. Walk around the tailgate lots with a couple beers, everyone is cool.

I sure hope ND isn't overlooking Wake Forest like many of you are.

Every game is important.

We can lose any of them.

ND should win by 20+ and look for our passing game to eclipse the 200 yd mark. No disrespect to Wake because I think it'll be much closer early. They have a seriously good team.

Every game is important and the staff knows that and has reiterated that to the team as mentioned in the above posts.

With that, I feel ND should destroy WF. This should be a good game where the team works on their mechanics and technique. Meaning, Wimbush and the WR's get some good reps in the passing game and hopefully, some backups get some good reps in. I feel the defense will shut them down, giving the offense more reps. I also would like to see the offense really try to pad the stats for Adams. So when ND is in the red zone I hope Long calls up a bias amount of plays with 33's number and not have Wimbush run it in. Every little bit helps for Heisman.

I'm all for the team and winning, winning, winning and healthy, healthy, healthy but who wouldn't want a Heisman along the way?!

I hope that we are "picked" (=bullsh!t, or meaningless number based upon bettor's emotions) by small numbers (or less) all the way out --- much better for the egos of the players.

By the way, WF is a team with a lot of pride --- they are very tired of being the ACC whipping boys for decades.

Also by the way: though I'd love it, I don't believe Josh has much chance of winning the Heisman whatever his stats are. Barkley is the poster boy, and if not him Mayfield. Plus Josh is "slightly" compromised by all the publicity about the monsters up in front of him. Our Big Uglies are bound to take some of the credit away.

ONly reason why I'm not worried is they just lost their star WR and GT ran for over 400 yards on them, run the ball all day and mix in a few throws, get Smythe more involved too.

I agree most of this (just not a big fan of Barkley and think he is overrated). However, with Josh leading the nation with average yards after contact, that will help show he is doing a lot of this on his own and defray some of the analysts saying it is because of the Oline.

S&P+ Rankings for Opponents:
Temple 98
Georgia 3
BC 76
MSU 21
Miami (OH) 61
UNC 102
USC 20
NCSt 35

Wake 24
Miami (FL) 14
Navy 56
Stanford 19

According to S&P+, Wake is no joke and two of our hardest remaining games are yet to be played. It's not the only ranking system in the world, but paints a different picture than the one I had in my head for how the rest of the season could go.

I buy most of those numbers, but always remembering that some of the early opponents suffer because they played US. (both for our game and the next one or two.)

Even though Miami and Stanford rank higher than some previous opponents, they don't match up well with ND. Stanford can't stop the run, at all, and Miami is sliding sideways into wins against average/bad teams (see 2012 ND). I think we can bully them.

S&P+ is great because it's so granulated that you can compare specific units against each other for a good picture of match-up advantages. But the downside of that granulation--of trying to measure the "success" of each individual play--is that it sometimes loses sight of the forest for the trees. That's why I generally prefer FEI for its predictive power:

ND - 3rd overall, 4th offense, 15th defense.

WF - 34th overall, 52nd offense, 33rd defense.
UM - 10th overall, 24th offense, 20th defense.
Navy - 32nd overall, 31st offense, 50th defense.
Stanford - 18th overall, 13th offense, 71st defense.

Furthermore, S&P+ rates our rushing attack as the 2nd best in the nation. The run defense ranking for our next four opponents is 45th, 84th, 15th, and 90th, respectively. So barring some fluke circumstance, I don't see how WF, UM or Stanford are going to stop us from running away with the game. Navy could be uncomfortably close, but I expect that Elko will pass the triple-option test with ease.

This. One of the thing I've been most impressed with this season is our ability to string out lateral runs from the LOS all the way to the sideline. It's been extremely rare that a team gets the edge on us.

According to this Miami U alum, S&P+ is so flawed it's comical. Any index that could rate my Mighty Redskins above the team they are running out at BC lately is stooooopid.

Agreed. It’s been impressive. To piggy back on Whiskeys point, I think Elko can draw up a solid plan against Navy. The two best things to employ against trip option teams are having supierior athleticism and playing assignment football. I think those two things have been abundant with ND’s defense so far this season.

The line for this game confuses me so much. I got ND at -13. Wake is without their best playmaker. Wake can't stop the run. How is this within 13???

Wake, BC and NC State are the opponents that ND and Clemson have in common. Both teams had comfortable wins against BC. Wake went to death valley and lost 28-14.

In the context of the BCS playoffs, I think it's important for ND to not only win but post a better final score than Clemson did (though the Clemson/Wake game wasn't as close as the score suggests). If NC State plays Clemson tough and the Irish look good again this weekend then that's a pretty nice argument to be in front.

You must not have watched the BC at Clemson game. The final score wasn't close, but that was not a "comfortable win" by any stretch.
