Yeah. Michigan is more likely to win a title in the next few years IMO. And FWIW, they made the "top 14 teams who can win it all in modern CFB", ND did not.

Gotta disagree. No way in this universe will Mich win in the next few years. The culture at Mich is not anywhere near that hardnose and do what it takes to win it.

I truly believe Mich won vs ND this year because they have had years of shame and anger built up after ND tbagged them their last game so bad. So they came into the game with a hard on and ND didnt. Mich jumped ahead and didnt let off the gas. ND flopped.

That wont be the case next time they play. ND will remember that game.

Mich vs anyone with a pulse means a Mich loss. That wont change.

The hard butt culture just isnt there and wont be with hairball.

I realize it's very unlikely Mich wins a title. But some say it's impossible ND does. In either very unlikely scenario, I'd be less shocked if Michigan did.

I suppose you could argue PSU/Franklin are closer.

Either way ND/BK is right around 8th most likely.

Dude, they can't even win their own half of the B10, let alone the conference, LET ALONE A NATTY!

And regarding some random list...who gives a flying f***? Lists are dumb and if you're hanging your hat on em then you're a bigger fool than any of us realized.

Solid post. You must be having a lovely day.

This should be a post that warrants a warning before a ban.

I mean it's solid in that it's true that Michigan can't even rep their half of the conference in the B10 CG...

As for the 2nd part, are you really going to argue against it? lol

Either way, feel free to report or whatever helps you sleep at night.

Yeah, Michigan is much further away from winning a championship than ND. They are 3rd in their half of their conference. They have a 20% chance or less of even representing their division in their conference championship game... which they'd then need to win, and then win two playoff games. Michigan has about the same odds of winning a title in the next 10 years as Texas A&M.

None of this is remotely relevant to Tommy Rees, so of course Koon is talking about it in this thread.

5 foot nothing brought up how BK isn't going to win.

I'm making the point he's closer than most think.

Not surprised you'd pile on though and support the negativity.

It's negative to think Michigan doesn't have much of a chance at winning a title anytime soon? Mmk....

In case it's not obvious, I'm referring to this: "And regarding some random list...who gives a flying f***? Lists are dumb and if you're hanging your hat on em then you're a bigger fool than any of us realized."

Stuff like this wouldn't be allowed anywhere else other than some SEC junk site.

Like, who responds to this because they disagree with a fair opinion? That has to be some special kind of something.

I just want to use this as an example.

I have given ThePiombino a warning because (whether you like him or not) Koon is right. There has been greater leniency on insults than there was in the past, and I don't believe that has been for the better.

One of the rules of the site is to avoid insulting posters (again, whether you like them or not) and instead just respond to posts.

Do not be surprised if more warnings (and potential further actions) are given out more in the coming weeks/months as I'll be keeping my eyes out for more stuff like this.

I'm all for arguments and disagreements on our site, that's what a forum is all about, but we should avoid insults even when those disagreements get heated.

This is just a worthless post. Not only does a good chunk of conversation on this board begin with some sort of list/ranking/comparison, but to resort to calling him a fool for bringing this topic up is just lazy. I agree that we are probably closer than Michigan is, but I also think that Michigan can reasonably beat OSU in the next few years and that probably puts them in the playoffs.

In order to win a natty, you have to make the playoffs. scUM made it a little over a year ago. Oh wait.........

Calling my post worthless? Oh no, my feelings are hurt! Hey, Beau, does he get a warning too? Right...

Anyway, as to your (equally) worthless and lazy point -- lists based on fact are definitely worth being the cornerstone of most of our EDUCATED conversations. Arbitrary lists that somehow say MICHIGAN has a better chance of winning a national championship over us, based on what I don't know, is foolish to believe in because it is not based in fact, but rather one "journalists" opinion most likely.

Anybody that thinks scUM is closer to winning a natty than Notre Dame does not follow college football. I don’t even see them winning the Big Ten conference in the next five years. I know this is a discussion board and love the information out here, but these kind of hot takes from certain posters just promote controversy and not discussion

Shouldn't have taken the bait man. That's the second thread Koon mentioned Michigan and this list in on his own. He clearly was looking for reaction.

One of my favorite College Football Facts is that Michigan has never played in a Big Ten championship game.

Hard to see that happening in the next couple years either. So, yeah, Notre Dame is closer to winning a national title than they are. Even if we’re not close enough.

I'm not looking for any sort of reaction. I think Michigan is more likely than ND to win it in the next few years. Neither team is truly likely though, they both have significant hurdles to get past.

Like I said, if you think that's not true that's fine. The athletic has a premium article that includes Michigan and not ND. I'm not basing my opinion on that, but I agree with it. If you're upset about that opinion, it's not just mine.

It's a crap shoot because the top 5 are really the ones that are realistically in the race. I didn't report that post FYI, but kudos to Beau for putting a stop to that. If opinion lists are going to be met with that crap, going to be a long, miserable off season.

I also think it's funny that I'm allegedly "Mr. Negative" but I'm saying ND is one of 8 teams that could possibly win it all in the next few years (Athletic has them outside 14), and I'm getting shit for even that.

I also stated say what you want about BK, but he's made this a top 10 program when he leaves.

But these posts don't fit the narrative i suppose.

I believe we are closer to a title than we have been since '93.
Michigan beat us and they beat us down. We didn't come prepared and we deserve all of the disparaging commentaries that follow.
In my opinion we are a better more fully managed and taught team than Michigan.
They came and gave us their once in a 10-year game and that was at their house.
They had us circled on their calendar since we shut them out and told them to get off of our schedule, and they played with a fire we couldn't match that night.
They then went and looked like the team we have grown accustomed to knowing under Hoke/Harbaugh for the rest of the year.
We, on the other hand, pulled our big boy pants up and finished the way we know how.
We win that game 10 out of 10 times on a neutral field. and we win big.

Michigan's recruiting has been down the last few years. Their real issue is the talent gap between them and osu is growing and without that win they can't ascend to the next level.

OSU is their elephant in the room, and why they have about 1% shot the next few years.

But their recruiting for the years that will matter in 2020 is very similar to ours, according to 247.

2017: UM 5, ND 10
2018: UM 22, ND 10
2019: UM 8, ND 16.
2020: UM 12, ND 13

UM average class rank: 11.75th
ND average class rank: 12.25th

Only reason Michigan’s recruiting classes are close to us is they have been taking full classes of 24-28 recruits. They have had tons of attrition unlike ND recently. On the most recent 247 evaluations they have 1 recruit in the top 100 and we had 3. OSU is DOMINATING them head to head and in development.

Gotta keep in mind that go extremely heavy on numbers. UM is one of the worst offenders of over recruiting. They've added 102 players over the last 4 (17'-20') while ND has added 88. And it's not just the total as much as it is they've went 25+ in 3 of those 4 years while ND has only done so once. There is no way anybody would trade our class for theirs this year but they're ahead of us in team rankings because they have 26 commits to our 18. That matters.

Harbaugh struggles to get to 10 wins, can't get past tOSU, and can't even get to his Conference Title Game. He's not shown they have what it takes to win it all, let alone even get to the playoffs.
