“He has history with Alabama because he committed to them a while back and I think that’s a school that he actually has in his heart,” Carlos said. “It’s not just him going to visit just to pass the time. He has them right there and he loves coach Saban and Coach Napier and they have a good relationship and he just waned to make sure that if he goes there that everything will be taken care of outside of football in terms of academics and his post-football career.”
Alabama has a plan for him to succeed both in football and in his desired major of engineering.
“They know how they will use him in terms of being a wide receiver and playing special teams, returning kicks and stuff like that,” Carlos said. “Everything about their engineering program is top-notch and we know it’s kind of hard to balance athletics, engineering and all that stuff but they have a plan for how to succeed as an athlete who is doing engineering at the same time.”
“They’ll let him run track and they know he’s a legitimate track guy,” Carlos said. “It’s not one of those things where he wants to run to stay in shape. He wants to run and try to compete with the best. They already have guys who run track like Tony Brown and Marlon Humphrey so he would be there right alongside them.”
“With Coach Saban he’s there until the end,” Carlos said. “He has a spot for Demetris, he loves him as a person and he said as a coach he said if that’s something you want to do, take the test again, he’s for that. He’s keeping a spot for him and he wants him there but he’s not pushing that envelope. He’s like, ‘hey, we’ll wait on you, buddy. We want you and you’re a high priority.’”
“We’re just sitting back and evaluating and all that good stuff,” Carlos Robertson said. “Now he’s wanting to go and take that test and see how it goes from there.”
“School-wise we pretty much have all the information we need,” Carlos said. “He wants to make sure he has all his ducks in a row. He doesn’t want to leave a stone unturned in making a decision and I think also his track and all that stuff is going to come into play.”
may not make a decision on his college choice until May.
“If that’s what it takes, we’ll probably go that route,” Carlos said. “But it could change. You never know, he might wake up one morning and be like I want to go ahead and get everything and get everything over with and that’s when we’ll make the announcement.”
