One bad game against Clemson, I'm not ready to throw the towel in on Tommy as OC. If anything he fared a bit better than Long had in the playoff game, and that was despite shooting ourselves in the foot a number of times today and missing key OL players. I think we need to be realistic and expect to have faster, better horses if you want to really compete with football factories every game. I love the heart of our WRs, but the talent and athleticism gap between our WRs and Clemson's is striking. I think our guys would probably be 2nd string at best at Clemson.

Hard to say the receivers are a problem when Book literally doesn’t throw to anyone who isn’t “wide open”. Dude has horrible anticipation and makes literally zero plays within the confines of the offense. Hard to be a good play caller when your QB doesn’t give the called plays a chance.

There were numerous plays today where receivers were going to come open and an anticipatory shot should have been made. Book just isn’t comfortable with those plays for whatever reason.

Clemson's receivers were wide open, a lot. They're also ridiculously fast. Our starters are not in the same league.

Book was under heat all night... Our o line was trash in pass pro.... We really really really miss Patterson

Hiestand...bring him back! He's not doing anything right now. Unless he's enjoying retirement, pass protection was his forte.

Clemson has better receivers that is for sure, but that isn’t why the game was lost. Inept offense today started and ended with Book. There were multiple plays where Book had receivers open and didn’t make the throw, but held the ball and danced in circles.

I’ll be really curious to see what Rees could do with the types of offenses we are set to field in the next 2-3 years. We are loaded at QB and every skill position with high 4 star players.

During the next 3-ish years we will be working with:

QB - Buchner
RB - Karen / Tyree
WR - KA (lol) / JJ / Colzie / Styles
TE - Mayer

If Rees is the real deal then he should get it done with some combination of that group.

Buchner hasn't even taken a snap as a HS senior, let alone in college. We have no idea what we have with him.

QB is definitely a worry and next year is where we may feel the loss of Phil. Drew Pyne looks like a poor man’s Book and Tyler has played one season of high school football the last 3 years and that was against weak competition. I hope we look for a grad transfer. The rest of the offense looks good.

Also, forgot to mention Ron Powlus who will be one of the all time greats.

The Oline not being able to run and WRs not getting open isn't on Book. Get a grip. Book was in shit every time he took a snap tonight.

Book is a three star player that has played above his potential often. Need to be looking at the players that have failed to live up to their potential first before you criticize the guy giving 100%. How about the QBs before him that have transferred out? How about some other positions that are lacking in speed and athleticism? Some of that is on recruiting, some of that is a failure in developing talent, and some of it is a lack of motivation.

Rees' future looks bright. He's running a system that has proven to be successful on the field and proven we can recruit to its strengths.
Give the kid a chance. If they don't miss that chip shot and Avery can hold on, this is a different game.

You are right. There were no plays to be had, and Book is the victim in this whole charade. Also, there were WR’s running open on numerous plays Book just doesn’t pull the trigger when they are. The plays require rhythm throws where the QB anticipates where his receiver will be. The plays are called to beat the blitz based on timing. Book struggles in that area and as such played a large part in the loss. Sorry, I’m not blind. The run game was abandoned too early though in my opinion. Either way proud of him and this team this year, just disappointed today.

Grade school coaches could easily see the need for screen passes and be puzzled by the tireless failures of end arounds on good teams.

Rees failed epically today.

Team looks like they are home sick. No need to be boat raced by Bama.

It was a bad game, but you've been rather disrespectful to the players at times tonight. It isn't necessary.

They game changed when they called the second down run and it got blown up. This is after the long run by KW.

Reality of poor performance should be open conversation though.

I've got no problem saying we played poorly tonight, but just be respectful about it. No sense slighting the guys playing for us when they're probably hurting more than the fans are. This is a common theme with your posts after a loss.

It’s ok to praise them when they do well but you can’t be critical of them and be brutally honest about their performance?

I’m sure you are correct. Thanks for the thorough look back on your observations

Agree somewhat.
I was screaming for a play action roll out there. But if they score three it would've resulted in keeping the momentum after the pick. The kicker can't miss there.

Being critical is one thing. Saying multiple times our players are crying for mommy, and that they're crawling back into their "loser shell?" That's disrespectful, hardly classy criticism.

The players have bled for the team we love. Bled for our amusement. Win or lose, they deserve our respect.

Absolutely. These are student athletes that play for our university. They don't play for money, and most of them came to get an education first and play football second. If a fan is going to shit on them, they can take a lap.

Tommy and co need to make the recruiting class they just signed successful. Buchner, Styles, Colzie, Thomas, they have to hit can’t have the same trajectory as Keys, Lenzy, and Austin.

All derailed by injury. That's just dumb luck.

Call it what you want doesn’t change the fact that none of them are household names. Can’t come up empty with the class you just signed. Austin’s last year has nothing to do with injury. Keys and Lenzy’s first 4 games this year had nothing to do with injuries
