Saw him via a Scout tweet today where they gave a 4 star rating. Confirmed by my sources at Google and Twitter that there is an ND connection. Last name gets him a look as does the Konerko jersey he's wearing on his Twitter cover photo.

Same hometown area as Colin McGovern, Myles Boykin and PWO Logan Plantz. Plays big boy 7A ball.

One to watch.

There's a street in South Bend called Lincolnway East. Just like his high school.

What's his competition like?

Is it me or does he look out of place in his 3 point stance?

They are top division 8A in Illinois. one loss team ranked #17 in all classes by Maxpreps. Lost to the #8 overall team close on the road. Plays in a good football area where McGovern, MDT, Boykin and...Nick Setta played, among others.

He looks odd because he's 6-6+. He's a big time SDE. Stands them LT's up and tosses them to make the tackle. Against the pass, he takes them deep on the set up and steps inside with a nice row or that spin move he learned playing basketball.

He is aggressive that's for sure.

Did Cardinal Mooney have a Betamax when you played Circa?

This kid is a must pull. Elko and a new defensive line coach should bring some excitement on the recruiting trail.

No excuse to not dominate this kids Twitter feed already. They are literally just 3 gallons away from his house. He should have been offered in person after last season's Homecoming game, in front of his parents, coaches & teammates while the pep band played the ND Fight Song in the background and Bleacher Report was filming a doc vid about it.

If only I had Kearney's job.

This staff has been so lackadaisical on putting out offers to recruits they are favored for. It's happened for years and has come back to bite ND numerous times. Very frustrating in this particular case as well. I understand that grades and transcripts affect the timing but Jesus, just throw out an unofficial offer for shit sake.

Yeah, I've heard the BS line about how kids have to send transcripts and prove they are worthy... and then JT Daniels gets an offer as a freshman or we hear that Paschal or Calvin still need work to get accepted. It's all incongruent BS. Give the kid an offer and then let him prove his grades later. Some think it's good enough for the coach to be in contact with him on the down low, even when we know nothing but once you go public you have the hype aspect and the propaganda machine starts working. Nebraska, Michigan & OSU understand this. Kids love attention. ND can generate that sort of hype if they'd just go public.

Devin was named Illinois Defensive Player of the Year over 5 Star AJ Epenesa. by USA Today.

2016 ALL-USA Illinois Football Team | | USA Today High School Sports

The best junior in the state of Illinois was dominant from his defensive end spot this fall. On his way to Southwest Suburban Conference and Class 8A All-State honors, O’Rourke collected nine sacks and 19 tackles for loss to go with 95 total tackles, leading his team to the state quarterfinals.

Also, not sure if it was noted above but he has a wrestling background as well:

This is the kind of young man ND needs to pull. He looks like a beast in his film and with his size, he certainly has the potential to be a dominant force on the DL.

Must get.

I agree. It seems like he has good grades seeing how he has offers from Northwestern and Princeton. Offer this kid already!!

Just a random question. Do you think if ND let Isaiah McKenzie commit before doing the work, do you think he would have stayed committed. A little different because he was offered they just didn't let him commit (I could be wrong).

I can't answer that but I can say it would have been worth a shot. When you are committed to something you work hard to accomplish the goal. When you aren't, your focus strays.

It's really not incongruent BS based off how Notre Dame does things and much like Stanford, it is different than every major program in the country.

JT Daniels can get offered as a freshman because he's from a really good program and offers as freshman mean less in terms of commitment to the player than a kid in their senior year, who may commit if you offer him. At that point, you have to be sure about grades.

The best system for Notre Dame and Stanford (Duke/Northwestern) is to know their grades beforehand so you don't waste time on the bad ones and the kids who won't survive in an environment like Notre Dame or Stanford.

If you start offering kids without any grades, that is how certain junior defensive lineman that haven't played get on the roster because you offer them not caring about grades, the position or area coach thinks they can go all in on them, then you can't go back on your word. And Notre Dame's leaders don't give the staff any direction on that front so it's a free for all if you don't, as a recruiting office, prioritize grades early in the process and wait to go on kids till you know.

Then say you have a coach who doesn't know what he's doing and he will offer 20 kids with a 1.8 GPA and then the media/fans think they have offers when NDs recruiting office knows they won't make it. But if you let that coach offer them, he will think he can recruit them, even though he doesn't realize they have no shot.
