Quote:
Baltimore Calvert Hall receiver Lawrence Cager is no longer making an official visit to Alabama during the weekend of Dec. 12, but he told Scout he could be on the Alabama campus for an unofficial visit this weekend.

In addition, he no longer will be at Notre Dame the weekend of Dec. 5. Instead, Cager will make an official visit to Virginia Tech that weekend and visit Notre Dame the following weekend. He already has trips set to Wake Forest (Nov. 21) and Ohio State (Nov. 28) and Rutgers continues to push for an official visit.

Cager is headed to Bama for the Miss State game this weekend. I would rather have his passenger than him however.

Per BGI, Bama's selling point is that they need a big body outside WR. He most likely wouldn't play as a freshman but would start as a sophomore and they'd have him ready for the draft by his junior year.

Sounds kind of like Corey Robinson to me.

Plus the fact that Foster has been a big disappointment for us. Word is his work ethic isn't getting it done in practice. Rumors have been out there for a while that Foster is unhappy because he isn't seeing the field and may look to move on at year's end.

Foster should have stayed home and played with Tyler Boyd.

Yep. Boyd is a solid WR for sure. Don't know why Foster hasn't came on but for now, he is up there as a huge bust. Maybe a change of scenery would get him going. A lot of talent that hasn't materialized yet. I am still holding out hope that the light comes on for him but I guess we will see.

Is he one where his talent allowed him to dominate in HS and thinks he should automatically be a starter?

Probably. He reminds me of a young K. Drake. Thought he could cruise and get on the field. Biggest difference thus far is Drake took it to heart and worked his way on through the practice squad. And once he committed to hard work, Drake became a dynamic player for us. For now, Foster doesn't seem to want to work for his. Too much talent to be wasted... but that's up to him.

He was a big fish in a small pond....his hs was always a power house but it was really small...he also wasn't or isn't the sharpest tool in the shed or just didn't want to apply himself...so either way they aren't good qualities

He is def a great football player but never understood his rating.....way too high

Thanks. Hope he gets it together. On the field and in the classroom. But he has to want it... and right now, it appears he doesn't.

This is the pitch? The three-year plan with a redshirt freshman year then starting as a sophomore and drafted as a junior. Does Bama have no other receivers? Or do they just blow smoke up the ass of every four star who happens across the transom?
Either way, if that's what Cager's after, he might as well skip Notre Dame.

"I love Bama," said Cager. "It felt like a second home to me. It felt like a place where I can see myself.

Scout: Cager 'got that feeling' at Bama

Baltimore (Md.) Calvert Hall wide receiver Lawrence Cager has a busy month ahead for official visits, which he’ll cap in Tuscaloosa next month, but he spent Saturday in town on an unofficial visit as Alabama defeated No. 1 Mississippi State.

“It was a great atmosphere, the fans, the walk, everything,” he said. “The fans were into the game every second, it was a great game.

“It was time well spent with the coaches and players, too.”

The 6-foot-4 ½, 195-pounder spent time with plenty of staples within the program, including Nick Saban, Lane Kiffin, Billy Napier, Blake Sims, Amari Cooper, fellow area-product Cyrus Jones and more.

“Blake was really selling to me,” Cager said. “He was telling me how I have a great opportunity to play early, as a freshman, and be a great wide receiver at Alabama. He was saying there’s nowhere you can do that and compete for a national champions. With Cyrus, talk to him a lot, he was just reiterating me to come on with him.

“With Coach Saban, we were talking about how Coach Kiffin and Coach Napier saying I have a great opportunity to make an impact as a freshman, and he wants me here a ‘Bama. He compared me a little bit, to Julio Jones, he’s a big receiver that gets out of his breaks fast like I do.”

Related Story: Down goes No. 1

With other top programs like Ohio State, Ole Miss, Georgia, Virginia Tech and others on his list, there are specifics about a future team the Scout.com three-star prospect is looking for and he learned plenty about the Crimson Tide despite it being an unofficial visit.

“Alabama sells a lot to me,” he said. “It feels like another home. I like a team, not a group here, a group there; I like it when everyone is together with one goal, winning a championship. That’s what I saw at Alabama.

“I’m looking for a school I feel in my heart, that I can really see myself at. I have to take more visits, but at Alabama, I really got that feeling. That’s what separates them from other schools.”

Cager plans on taking all five of his official visits and then making a public commitment in early January at the Army All-American game in San Antonio, Texas. A return trip to Alabama, for an official visit, is likely for the third week in December, which would be his final trip before declaring.

Recruiting Week In Review - Irish Sports Daily

Even though he’s a member of the Class of 2015, Lawrence Cager, WR, 6-5, 210, Calvert Hall, Baltimore, MD, isn’t quite as far along in his recruiting decision as Kraemer. For Notre Dame that’s a good thing. That means the Irish will have an opportunity to impress him when he visits campus for the banquet on December 12th.
“Coach Kelly told me about the banquet,” Cager explained. “I have a couple friends going up there in Ashton (White), Nicco (Fertitta) and Aliz’e (Jones). Those are the reasons and Coach Kelly told me that would be the best day to come up there.”
Cager will need to reschedule a visit to Alabama to make the Banquet but he is planning to do that. He also had to cancel a visit to Virginia Tech earlier after suffering a concussion.
“I’m feeling better,” Cager told ISD shortly after the injury. “I’m just getting back into the swing of things.”
Cager, who received his Notre Dame offer last month is excited about his visit to South Bend.
“Just seeing how things are at Notre Dame,” he said of what he’s looking most forward to. “This will be my first time being there, so really just seeing how life is up there, how the facilities look, how the school looks, how they treat football players there; just the basics of how you check out a school.”
Cager was honored to get the opportunity to speak to Kelly personally.
“He was just telling me how they really want me,” he recalled. “They want to use me how they use Corey (Robinson). You can never have too many big receivers on the field. I have the potential to play my freshman year and really be a great addition to the offense and having an impact at Notre Dame quickly.”
Cager has friends committed to many different programs across the United States, including Notre Dame. He sees that as a positive.
“It’s a really good thing to build a connection with all the recruits from a school,” he shared. “You really want to have friendships with to build that bond early so you know you’re coming in with and that you’ll have great guys with you.”

Ohio State Buckeyes Football, Basketball, and Recruiting Front Page

Baltimore Calvert Hall receiver Lawrence Cager’s official visit to Ohio State ended late Monday morning, and he made it to class.
Of course, it was an English 101 lecture at Ohio State, which gave him a glimpse into a college classroom and capped his weekend visit.
“It was kind of interesting because it was English 101 and they were teaching some stuff I already know, so I was able to follow along,” Cager said. “It was something that was cool.”
The class wasn’t the focal point of the weekend, though. For Cager, it was the Michigan-Ohio State battle and it left an impression.
“I went to the game, it was a great game, great atmosphere and the horseshoe was rocking,” he said. “I spent time with Jalen Marshall and some of the commits, including Matthew Burrell. It was a good time.”
With Cager not starting his visit until just before the game started, it meant Sunday’s focal point was spending time with members of the program.
“Sunday was really with the team in the whole facility and the coaches were in a lot of meetings, and we were eating a lot of good,” the 6-foot-5, 195-pound Cager said. “The message was the same as always. They said I’m wanted there and can have an impact as a freshman and they are not really recruiting a kid like me, a kid my size and my demeanor and things like that.
“I was really with the team a lot. It’s a group of great guys. They believe every guy can get the job done either of special teams or the next guy up.”
Cager grew up liking Ohio State a lot, and it meant his expectations for the visit were very high. But were they met?
“I think it did,” he said. “As a little kid, you always have these big dreams and think the place is like Disney World. It’s not Disney World, but it’s a great.”
Cager already made an official visit to Wake Forest and he has trips set for Virginia Tech (Dec. 5) and Notre Dame (Dec. 12). He plans to announce his decision Jan. 3

Kelly seems to be visiting current commits first and foremost. I imagine he'll start using in-homes with the current targets a bit later.

That would be my guess as well. They probably want to get through this weekend first and then try to identify who left on the board is most important and then schedule those visits from there. With that said I would like to see Kelly out recruiting more or at least the staff as a whole.
