So Musk apparently rebuffed a settlement with the SEC which would have allowed him to stay in his role. Predictably, the SEC goes for the corporate jugular. Will be interesting to watch this unfold publicly.

Price is in the rumored margin call range.

This is why it's dangerous to play the stock game. I put money into TSLA and it's been a losing affair for me. I was closing to putting it into AMD instead but their stock had gone above $14 and I thought it was too high for a purchase so I grabbed TSLA instead.

Huge mistake. Should've just put all the money in our vanguard funds.

This is where I land. I'm sure somebody on here will tell me why it's a bad idea, but I have too much going on in my life to watch the markets with any sort of sophistication and have no insider info. So many of my buddies are Robinhood wallstreetbets types and I feel like they're just using it to gamble on something that seems less degenerate than sports.

I almost think that was planned. It's gotten a lot of publicity. I love the vehicle, too. A lot of people buy trucks for the attention---I think this will get it done even if it's not the same niche as an F150.

The whole thing doesn't seem real to me... that design feels like a bad inside joke.

I generally like Elon and I love what Tesla has done to push America into the EV market, but damn is that thing fugly. Maybe the only good thing about that is the hype around it had already pushed Ford into making an investment in Rivian that will likely result in an electric F-150 and now they will probably have an even greater market share than they thought because I don't see many truck people buying that thing. Maybe that thing will find a market in rich people who want to drive something that makes people look at them.

I think they wanted to legitimately dip into the pickup truck market, which is the biggest market in the industry (right?)... but 99/100 dudes driving standard pickups right now aren't going to switch for THAT design.

It's ugly as hell. Laura-Croft-Pointy-Ass-Titties-Lookin-Truck.

(I will say that I don't totally hate they way it looks when it has the camping setup mounted on the back. I think the truck would look better with a hard top on the back that takes away the downward plane.)

I also think that maybe this is totally an elaborate joke, and the truck was designed and produced to generate hype before they announce that it's actually a vehicle model from Cyberpunk 2077, and isn't actually a consumer model. Tesla will then unveil a more 'traditional' model for a pickup that resembles the S3X line.

I feel like I'm crazy because... I like it? I'm just as shocked as you.

I wouldn't buy it. But I think it's pleasing to the eye. It was definitely ballsy as hell to stick with that design because you know there was probably pushback.

Maybe they did some pretty deep-dive/heavy market research, and they found that all of the older dudes in the country with enough money to buy an electric truck will actually think highly of the design for some reason.

It kind of reminds me of what you would get if you told a 12yo to design a futuristic model of a Hummer that was supposed to be a bit less boxy and capable of driving on the Lunar surface.

That's pretty cool. It looks like they have a ways to go with full EV stuff, but they have the kind of commercial might to make up ground quick. Hopefully they are able to get it in consumer trucks too because besides the monstrosity that is the cybertruck, the only other electric trucks I saw were Rivian (which looks amazing), Atlis XT (which looks too good to be real), and Bollinger (which looks like an expensive deathtrap).

I will say that one interesting thing about the cybertruck is the highest variant. It says it has a 500+ mile range, up from the 250 mile range of the base. I wonder if that top variant is going to have the Maxwell battery. I think even the mid variant only has 350 mile range, so a range of 500 miles on in the same volume would mean we could see ranges increase by 50% pretty soon and reports were the new battery tech could even further improve. Between that and the supposed Toyota solid state battery coming out at the Olympics, we are about to be in for a fun couple years.

Something's up.

Below is the rendering that was circulating within the blogosphere. And it's a highly evolved example of Tesla's design language. This thing today and the glass fail just seems to be a complete Elon being Elon.

BTW, I got out of Tesla a week and a half ago. Kept the first 50 shares I bought. Been a good ride but it's time to flip some houses while the market's still Trumpin'.

Give it time, Cummins will market when the times right. Nothing moves quick around this world. It’ll pop and you’ll be like wtf. Patience

Or their research told them it didn't matter what the truck looked like that older generation wasn't going to buy an electric pickup either way. So instead they go the viral marketing route and try and sell to younger consumers exclusively.
