Because recruiting is only part of the equation. If we learned anything from Ron Powlus, James Aldridge, and Dayne Crist: it should be that recruiting services can be, and regularly are, wrong in their ratings.

What is your point? Someone asked why Stanford has been better than us and someone else tried to explain it by citing Harbaugh and Luck making the program look more attractive.

So you say Stanford's classes were underrated? Not sure where you are going with this.

“I just want to get into Stanford, because I have been working towards it,” Robertson said when asked about his decision to not sign a letter of intent last week on National Signing Day. “I know how it’s a prestigious school for academics and I know they have a good football team. I just want to see what’s out there.”

“If I get [a 1500] than we will start the admissions process and take a visit out there and see how it is,” Robertson said.

“I know if we make the score we’re probably going [to visit] Georgia this weekend,” Robertson said. “But if we don’t make the score, we’ll probably [make a decision] sometime the week after or the week after that.”

“[Tight ends coach Scott Booker, running backs coach Autry Denson, associate head coach Mike Denbrock and offensive coordinator Mike Sanford] — all of them are hitting me up,” Robertson said.

“Notre Dame is probably the only one who pushed me to sign on signing day,” he added. “They were just like, ‘If you feel like signing on signing day just go ahead and do it.’"

so if he gets the scores needed to apply to Stanford then he is going to visit Georgia?

If he doesn't get the scores to Stanford he is going to make a decision with no further visits?

Why only visiting UGa if gets the Stanford scores?

Why do you think they are a better team? We play them within a point or two every year.

If you are talking about their record vs. ours, its apples to oranges. If you are talking about their recruiting vs. ours, I's also say its apples to oranges. If you are talking about getting to 10 wins, rather than 13, its hard to say who has had better recruiting. You only play a certain amount of guys, and they seem to have had less major defections or roster hits than we have.

All you can do is look at the 10,000 foot picture. I'd say they've had excellent coaching and got good players for their system. We have had sporadic coaching, lots of misses on the recruiting trail and distractions off the field, and a serious injury bug. The results have been mixed.
My initial post was about results. They've had better results. It's not even arguable. I really don't care about the head to head when they are 1 or 2 wins better than us every year.

Wait, so you're saying they're beating us at the other parts of the equation then? Like coaching and player development.

It's pretty clear their S/C program dwarfs ours. As do most in the country.

I'm surprised no one is talking about the potential that he doesn't even sign an LOI but instead financial aid paperwork. This saga could play out over the entire spring if he goes that route. To me, the biggest news of the week, is that this under consideration.

why would we want to talk about that in this thread.. We would rather talk about Stanford Vs ND and why BK is an underachieving coach

Let's be honest here fellas.. Do we think this kid is gonna come here? As its been said before, it looks like from the outside that he's straight up looking to go somewhere else other than ND. If he chooses ND awesome.. but, I anit holding my breath.

Wrong.

I read that as if he didn't get the scores, he'd wrap it up and commit to Notre Dame in short order. If he does get the scores, Stanford would start his admissions process; thus his recruitment being prolonged and a visit to Georgia not hurting [him]. He only gets to do this once.

Exactly, its fairly bizarre.

Maybe he's outed his true intentions... if he doesn't get Stanford, he's going to Georgia.

If he DOES get Stanford, he wants to visit Georgia to make sure he still wants Stanford first.

He's only using ND as a backup option.

I think where ND could get hurt in all of this is by getting defined as the Stanford back-up. If he doesn't get into Stanford, he might feel dejected and want to just go in an entirely different direction by either choosing the best football factory, or the home team, rather than the #2. ND staff has to make clear that we are not a back-up plan!

The best case scenario is that he gets into Stanford, and then realizes ND is the best choice anyway.

FWIW, Stanford did not beat Notre Dame for a single recruit this cycle that 1) Notre Dame actively recruited and pursued + 2) wasn't from California.

Notre Dame, on the other hand, beat Stanford for multiple players. Robertson being so pro-Stanford despite not visiting and having no connection is much more the exception than the rule.

because he didnt have the time to visit Georgia at any point before these scores come in?

Mike Frank has alluded to this many times on his podcasts. He reckons Stanford has systematically doped their athletes using techniques developed in-house to give them unfair advantages.

It would certainly explain a lot. Does he have any basis for his suspicions?

It actually sounds reasonable to me...

The way I read it is:
1) I worked really hard to get into Stanford, so I'm not going to stop now just because of some artificial deadline
2) I may not go there even if I do get in...
3) But, if I do get in, it's going to be a couple of weeks minimum before I can go out there, so I'll use my time well and check out UGA just to be thorough (since my recruitment will still be open)
4) However, visiting UGA is not a priority. I've got a good idea where I'm going if I don't get the score I need, and so I am not going to draw out the process artificially.

I think he's drawing his own conclusions a little, but I mean, go look at the amount of injuries they have. Plus this year and they were playing with little to no depth.

Need some more details on alleged doping. They get drug tested and HGH tested. Maybe they use cutting edge supplementation?

I can't remember who, but somebody claimed that Stanford's "air rehab" machine that's supposed to make bodies recover quickly was developed solely to hide the doping. Of course, there are no sources for it.

Let's turn the heat up.

If I'm ND I'm calling up Demetris and telling him... "We gotta tell you this before it drops. Gehrig Dieter who's from here in South Bend is grad transferring and it's down to Bama and us. He had 90 something catches for over 1000 yards at BG and the last guy this good from the MAC was Antonio Brown... so we are gonna give him your spot" Now, if he starts crying tell him to sign right now, if he doesn't cry ... he was never coming anyway. Oh how I'd love to turn up the heat on him.

Sounds like an absolute awful idea lol

How about we talk about Michael Floyd, Golden Tate, Tyler Eifert and Thrill Fuller
