So he knew Notre Dame was the better option but committed to OU because of a coach. lol. Basically we got out recruited

I read it differently.

He stated at one point a bigger wad of paper his mom picked out of a hat, he had thought was ND.

He said, damn I'm going to ND.

The he read the paper said OU and he felt a load let off his shoulders.

He didn't really really want ND.

He wanted OU. Or else he would have went to ND.

This. See Landon Collins and Gerald Willis recruitment announcements.

Agree with JohnnyCando. If you're heart is not into a school, you shouldn't go. The kids that are successful at ND are not scared or burdened by the great challenge it poses, they embrace it. Obviously, I'm not the kid so what I say should be taken with a grain of salt, but it sure does sound like the situation here. He probably took the best decision for him in this point in time in his life. Hopefully, he does not regret it and can have a successful and happy life.

He realized that he had better relationships at Oklahoma. They were recruiting him earlier, and he was more comfortable with the people there.

His aunt's question and Stoops' answer made him realize that.

Not sure we got out-recruited so much as we didn't get in early enough.

Yeah. That read like he really wanted Oklahoma at heart, because of his relationships there. Though of course he feels that way at this point.
Still, it's probably for the best. Like Aube said, Notre Dame's not for the kids with regrets.

I'm assuming our coaches got asked the same question wonder what their response was. Getting Kelly would have been nice but I like our haul at LB as is. I won't lose sleep over it. I think both Jones are going to be good players for us and I think Daelin Hayes will start off playing more LB than DE. Interesting fact we landed three players in this class with the last name Jones.

How much of that article do you take seriously? He is a drama queen. Everyone knew he was going to Oklahoma. He just loves the attention.

This is easily my biggest issue with distance learning, I feel like it would be absurdly easy to dodge checks for accountability. Seems very honor-system-ie. But what do I know? I went to a boring "traditional" university.

I was watching this game live, and I saw this interview as well. I didn't really see a problem with what he said. 'Online courses', and 'Virtual School' is HUGE in California.

Maybe he should have picked better words to say other than, "I have no classes, I take Online courses." But taking online/virtual courses is quite the norm in CA, I assume its the same in OK (everywhere).
Its becoming more and more commonplace, students going to traditional classes for most of the day, and taking 1 or 2 online courses. A student taking 100% online courses isnt so common right now, but it is definitely an option.

Online classes can be harder to cheat in if the instructor enforces it. Most times you have to go to a special proctored lab to take the exams using either a computer system that shuts out the rest of the computer besides the exam or with noting but a pencil and paper...again, all proctored.

The rest of the class is usually pretty easy from my understanding, but the idea of taking online classes while attending a university seems to take away the purpose of going there if you ask me. I can not stand the idea of not having an instructor who I can see and talk to.

I don't know if 'most times' covers it... I've seen online classes without proctored exams. It really varies from school to school, teacher to teacher or even course to course.

My roommates took some online classes. We'd sit in the living room, drink beer, and take turns googling the questions. Easy peasy.

If its proctored and stuff I have no problem with it. If its like what I described above, its a joke.

I meant most times IF the teacher enforces it. Sorry for the confusion fellas.

Like I said, I am not a fan of online classes. Take into account thought NorthDakota, that you weren't even a student athlete (I assume) and these cakewalk classes were available to you as well.

Most of the online tests aren't proctored but what many teachers fix that by just giving less time to take it. If you have 120 questions and 45 minutes it makes it hard to look up every answer (sure you could look up a few).

I have done IT exams for my job using ProctorU and it's well wierd, you basically sit in the front of your laptop doing the exam while a Filipino person watches you the whole time via your webcam haha :D

Watched the highlights of the OU/WVU game and on the scoop and score by Caleb Kelly they mentioned that this is only his second start this season. I remember being disappointed when he went with OU since it seemed like everything was trending toward us. I wonder how he would have done her, particularly if he would have played more. Maybe a rover or something and then a move inside? Idk, seemed like a kid that could have helped us in someway, shape, or form.

He’s having trouble finding playing time on a defense that gave up 700 yards of offense and is one of the worst defenses in the P5. Can’t imagine he’d even be in the 2 deep in South Bend.

On the other hand that was a hell of play on the scoop and score. He blew over an O lineman, forced a fumble, recovered it and ran it in all by his damn self. Maybe they should play him more.

You might be right. But that staff sees him practice everyday. Maybe there’s a reason he’s not a starter.

There probably is. I have no idea. Have only seen portions of a few of their games this year.
But given the talent on that roster (45 guys recruited with 4 or 5 stars, exact same as ND) maybe the problem with their defense begins with the coaching staff.

Edit: Oh, wait, I forgot Bob Diaco is now coaching outside linebackers at Oklahoma. Ha!

Hahaha this.

Looked up his stats last night along with Gary Jennings during the game. Looks like he's been hurt then actually lost snaps to the little played up until his 5th year Sr., Curtis "Heat Mizer" Bolton.

Kelly was getting beat all night in coverage. He was on Jennings at one point on 3rd and 18 and gave up a 35 yard reception to put WVU on the 5. It was embarrassing. He was off Jennings by about 15 yards and still got beat deep.

I wonder what he must be thinking about his decision now? Both he and Diaco. Not a chance he plays pro ball being part of that D’s Svhitt show. Could have been coached up and play rover for us. At
East he will graduate with a great degree.....4 year choice vs the 40 one.

Hmmm. I don't know. Maybe he's happy? Maybe he enjoys the relationships he is building with his teammates, coaches, and in the community? Maybe he met a nice girl or several? Maybe he likes his classes? Maybe ND wasn't the place he wanted to play at? Maybe his life isn't over because he chose a place other than Notre Dame?

I love Notre Dame, but using the 40 year thing to put other institutions and people down has always bothered me. In my opinion, depending on context and how it is said, it definitely comes off as arrogant and anti-ND. Notre Dame is special for more than just a tagline.
