Nope, he sure isn't. Not when it comes to cheating on a paper.

Yes he is, because unlike you, every day this goes by for him (especially game days) it's likely costing him serious $ on the next level.

You could wait a week and all it was going to cost you was some heartburn. Davaris is losing national credibility and 2/13ths of his potential stats. These are stats that will determine his pay grade for the next 3 years. The fact that you think you're in the same boat is laughable.

I agree with this fully (although I might have put it more delicately ... wizards makes his point with his characteristic, um, enthusiasm)...
I'm a treasure and a delight. I only get angry in politics threads (which I now stay out of) and this one. I even get along with koon usually!

I didn't say the consequences were the same, I said the treatment from the University is the same. I don't think Notre Dame gives a damn about Daniels' draft status and I sincerely hope it has nothing to do with their consideration of this issue.

They should give a damn about their football program and the piles of cash it brings them. You know, to pay their salaries.

Holy shit koon (and everyone else), the Notre Dame faculty and administrators don't owe you a damn thing. They have full time fucking jobs that don't involve dropping everything they do so that a couple of jackasses can play football on Saturday. It doesn't work that way and I'm so fucking glad it doesn't. DaVaris fucking Daniels can go through the same process I went through because he's no damn better than I was just because he can catch a ball.

Haha... what a joke. You really don't think that these players are more important to the University than you are? You're kidding, right? How much money do you make for the University? Now that you are graduated, how much exposure do you bring to the university? Other than tuition and donations, what do you accomplish that puts you on the same level as some of the most recognizable and marketable players in the football program?

I bet you also think it's bull$hit that pro athletes make so much, don't you? The reality is that Davaris and KRussell DO mean more to the university. They should get priority and guess what... they DESERVE better treatment than your run of the mill student. The whole reason your degree is so recognizable, that the facilities you enjoyed were so nice, that the school can employ such expensive/renowned professors... was because the school was in part put on the map with football. Tell yourself whatever you want, but in WWII, the damn school almost closed because of lack of enrollment. Navy came in and saved the day by sending the Navy ROTC units through the university. How do you think they built that relationship with Navy? Through football... that's how. There are tons of examples that show the massive impact that the football program has had on building the Notre Dame brand you enjoy. So to act like these kids don't deserve to be treated any differently is a fairy tale. It's a dream world that the rest of us don't live in. This is the real world, not Neverland. People get treated differently, that's life. Grow up, Peter Pan! Count Chocula!

Totally right. Harvard and Yale have a ton of trouble recruiting qualified faculty and administrators without profitable FBS programs.

Seriously, you're making the argument that Notre Dame should deviate from their SOPs around academic dishonesty because cash? It might be time to pick a different program if that's how your priorities fall.

Not a lot of comprehension of a nuanced argument around these parts, eh? I didn't deny any of the facts that you presented. I simply stated that within the context of an honor code investigation, all of those things are irrelevant. I'm not complaining about training table, athlete-only workout facilities, or financial assistance. BUT, within the context of an honor code investigation these players are no different than every Tom, Mary, and Jane that walks through the doors of DeBartolo every day.

Why are many equating speeding up the process for a resolution & special treament?

Football players are different than the rest of the student body. They are highly coveted and they participate in almost year-round training for a small window of showcasing their talent and representing the university. On top of a full academic workload, they also carry practice schedules, training tables, workouts and film study.

They are a special case. Not more important, per se, but special. With such a small window closing week by week, it only seems logical that the school would attempt to expedite this process to benefit all parties involved, including the university.

People can stick their necks out for the university and I get it but it appears from the outside that things are dragging on without reason. Let's hope they have one.

The girl in the bottom left has to be a Bama fan, right?

I was sitting with 3 friends during the game. 2 girls and a guy. All 4 people in that gif look similar enough to the 4 of us to make me look at that 5 different times.

I will say I looked considerable more drunk than that guy.

I can totally see ND turning into the Harvard or Yale of the midwest without a football program. Excellent point.

When it's not about the money, it's about the money.
