Personally, I think Hood is a better player than Starks but Starks is also a stud and more versatile.

Yup, having both of them would be a great problem to have. Stark can also play safety, or slot. Staff will find ways to get the best on the field.

I'll say what I said early in the thread, this kid is an insanely special talent and would stick out that much more in any other year, it just so happens this is a ridiculously strong RB class.

They are two different types of backs. Think of Elijah Hood like a Jonas Grey on steroids while Nathan Starks is a better Cierre Wood

Sort of agree and disagree. Hood definitely has the look of your classic power back, while Jonas Gray was really a speed back that just happened to be 225 lbs. Doesn't look like Hood has the breakaway speed of Gray, but then Gray was supposedly the fastest member on the roster.

Looking back at Starks' tape, I can definitely see the Wood comparison....the principle difference being that Starks seems to break tackles and run with the authority that I never saw from Cierre.

Take 'em both!

awesome, awesome, awesome. This is great pickup for ND, he's the type of RB that they don't have as he is true power back that I would expect to play at about 235-240lbs.

The kid is a stud and pound for pound he's very fast.

As for Starks, well he's equally a stud and he's got some power running in his game but he's a different type of RB.

haha I was being sarcastic. I am pretty damn confident by saying Elijah just wanted to get his parents blessing. That's why he was set on ND than slowed things down. It's been a roller coaster ride for him but I am pretty sure he was set on ND the whole time. I never thought he was committed but I can STRONGLY say I won't name name's but there was a reason a couple backs were coming to ND this spring than all of a sudden canceled. there are reasons only Starks and Michel visited for RB's this spring. It came off as "hey look what I know and you don't" I apologize and didn't mean to come off arrogant even though I did.

Agree. Jonas was the best back we had in a LONG time. Unfortunately, he was not 100% committed to football until his senior year.

I don't think we (or anyone else) can replicate what Saban just did anytime soon. There's a reason it's happen only three times in the Poll Era (ND under Leahy and Nebraska under Osborne). Bama has a great coach whos been given essentially unlimited resources (cultural factors in the state/region AND $$$ etc). He also benefited from a period of time when every other top-tier historical power (ND, OSU, UM, USC, OU, Texas) was down, except Texas in 09, when he caught a break with the Colt McCoy injury and the "2nd tier" of blue bloods, if you can even call them that, weren't in real title contention. (Nebraska, Penn State, FSU, Miami, Tennessee).

IMO, you don't win 3 of 4 because you're that much better than everyone else, you win cause you're peaking when everyone else isn't. Otherwise it'd happen more often. Unfortunately, now that he has, it's a self-perpetuating phenomenon with his ESPN-fueled recruiting advantages.

Getting players like this can only help us start to reverse the situation. Beat him once, seize the media narrative, and either we take Bama's place, or settle comfortably into consistent top 5 status and wait for the right breaks to win our NC's.

Oh I totally agree. Saban has 4 titles and IMO a living legend. I think Kelly will get a big W against him within the next few years. That's what I meant. If Kelly can get us 3 titles in 4 years he'll get more than a statue, I guarantee that!
