Thought it was pretty obvious I was satirically relating how liberals view whites as privileged since they are on average wealthier than minorities and therefore must be institutionally oppressing them (even though asians disprove this) to Jews being wealthier than the average Christian in the US so they must be oppressing them. I just think their whole reasoning behind "white privilege" is flawed.

For about half of what I read on twitter, I would change "laugh" to "lose their collective minds in blinding white rage".... but otherwise I completely agree. Some mocked the ad in a comedic way, others just got super faux offended.

The irony is that this seems like what it would be, but is almost surely the opposite of what happened. My wife is an advertising account supervisor for a major brand (that will remain nameless for the sake of this post) at an advertising agency here in DC. Advertising/marketing is a female dominated industry, my wife's team doesn't have a single male working on it. All in all, her agency skews about 70% female and it'd be much higher were it not for their programmers in their web development department.

What generally happens is the "old white guy" (CEO, Board of Directors, etc.) on the client side doesn't get input until near the very end... and, as you'd expect, a lot of times he hates or "doesn't get" what's been put together. Then the CMO and/or whatever marketing manager was in charge of the project walks him through how he's "not the target audience" and how they're experts and "trust us, we've focus grouped/tested/researched/whatever and it's great." Then the old white guy shrugs his shoulders and signs off on it.

In this case, I'm sure the marketing team wanted to do something "current" and probably saw the very good Nike campaign and said "let's do that + a Kardashian." Where they failed was in the execution, and I could write paragraphs on how they could've done the same ad with polar opposite reaction. And for that, a lot of people are going to (rightfully) lose their jobs.

They are inspiring and good technically, but Nike trying to talk about "equality" while operating sweat-shops is laughable.

That's the rub. It's great brand management for a company that has a deplorable record of exploitation when you start peeling back layers.
