You know I am no feminist but I do find cat calling to be really awful and if this cuts down on that I don't have that big of a problem with it.

Obviously this goes over the top but it is well intentioned.
Give me a break. Being a douchebag is not a crime.

The thing is, if they made a "harassment" law where you could get a ticket (like a noise complaint, basically)... I'd be like "meh, makes sense."

Whistling at someone is a HATE CRIME!?!? Great Britain is on some shit lately...

Like I said, it went over the top, but I think making cat calling some sort of punishable offense is not an inherently bad idea.

The punishment should be your buddies calling you a creep.

Should we make heckling at sporting events punishable by law too? Or should your buddy slap you let you know you look like an ass?

Feminists have such lack of respect for the women they supposedly support that they believe they cannot handle words.

I'm fairly confident people who do stuff like that don't hang out with people who disapprove of it.

I think heckling is pretty stupid too. There's definitely a line that should not be crossed.

I saw this...

I think if progressives want to do things like the bathroom pick'em, they need to be willing to up the ante on people like this.

Will probably get parole and community service (ie more opportunities)....this needs to be a crime that ends with this person being tagged a sexual predator....after some jail time.

Can't say I've got a problem with Twitter taking action against a guy that was directing such targeted, hateful, and pointless abuse.

That's not to say that I'm standing up for the "death to cops" people, because I think those people should all rot in hell... but they aren't spamming an individual with targeted racism. They're just being general blowhards.

Meanwhile, not a single one of the activists shouting "death to cops" has been banned for "hate speech."*

*As far as I know.
What's even worse is that Milo didn't even DO anything. I'm anti-ban even if he DID something, but from what I can tell he had nothing to do with some of the racist stuff that was being thrown at Leslie Jones.

BTW, Leslie Jones is a giant racist.

He wasn't, though. There was hateful abuse pointed at Leslie Jones, but Milo had nothing to do with it. All Milo did was say that Ghostbusters was craptastic, then LJ went after HIM.

C'mon man... it's like when Clay Travis picks the easiest target on Twitter, aka the most burn-able guy on Twitter that sends him a dumbass tweet, and retweets that person with a not-funny retort.

He's not doing it to engage directly himself. He's doing it because he knows exactly what follows: his troll contingent harasses and spams that person until they have to leave Twitter for the day (or sometimes more).

They are the puppet masters, controlling and leading the troll hoard to their targets.

Except when your troll hoard consists of a bunch of racists and people who target someone with aggressive pornography and fake accounts, it's a little different.

Is Milo responsible for those users? Not directly, of course. But he knows exactly what's going to happen when he decides who to go after. I have no sympathy for him in this case.

I'm not saying that Milo is an innocent victim. He's a self-described provocateur, essentially a professional troll. That doesn't mean Twitter's selective enforcement of their terms of use policy is appropriate. Milo is, at worst, guilty of having racist followers. Leslie Jones is, herself, a racist. Which is worse?

You can be a professional troll? What kind of money is there in that?

I'm asking for a friend.

I don't think a bunch of "SMH White People" tweets makes someone a racist. She's a comedian, and her shtick is to be the loud, aggressive black woman.

That's like calling Dave Chappelle a racist against black people because of his routines.

But that's besides the point.

I agree that Twitter is selectively using their policy, I can't dispute that... but I've personally got no problem with it in this case, because Milo knows exactly what's going to happen when he picks his target. Thousands of racist, mentally-unstable shitbags are going to be the worst they can possibly be towards someone. And I don't think Leslie Jones deserved it, just for making a crappy movie.

*I also want to note that I generally agree with the things Milo chooses to call out, and I think it's awesome when he makes "safe space" people uncomfortable. I don't have a beef with him that I'm sitting on haha. I just see the "troll hoard" in action almost every day on Twitter in a very small way, and I can't imagine someone having to deal with that on a large, seriously racist scale.

She's not doing a "bit." She literally has tweets saying things like she's mad at someone for sitting next to a white person. That makes her racist.

I wish people would go after the other annoying lardass woman in that movie. She is awful.

She is one of the same as this Jones chick. Loud mouth, crude, rips on everyone mercilessly, then cries when someone calls her fat.

*Im truly not a hateful person, but am a firm believer in "STFU unless you can handle it coming back your way." These windbag bullies are so thin skinned.

On record...I think the movie looks pretty good. That surprises me. Will reserve judgement until I actually see it.
