Just because the average person in my town drives a truck jacked up on 35's and doesn't work because they are too high on heroin does not make this a redneck area.
That's Juniata and Perry County.

I can attest that the good ol' boys of oil city,pa as well as most of Northwest pa is predominantly red neck as hell. Heroin is as accessible as iron city beer. Lots of government assistance, non working or don't want too work too many hours so that it doesn't affect my low income benefits ass holes out here. Tax season is like Christmas out here and the knock kneed hogs that I see in this area are dropping kids like their snatch is a water park slide just to get that extra couple of grand to blow on TV's and game systems. Can't feed the family but they always have a fresh carton of heaters to fire up while holding their new Borns. All class ya'll.

But trailer meth labs DO make it a redneck area. Welcome to Luzerne / Columbia County.

Whoa. I'm gonna let you finish, but Delaware County had the most amount of meth busts in Indiana...which in turn had the most meth busts in the entire nation ever this past year.

I did my intern year at Ball Memorial so I can confirm this. Pretty sure Delaware County also has the highest smoking and obesity rates in the state as well. Opioid abuse is near or at the top too.

But what Did the census say about the growth of the Hispanic population and the correlation of Little Caesars $5 pizzas in the area?

Easy Sir!!! My family is of Scandinavian decent and we ate a $5 pizza yesterday! Not to mention we only use pharmaceutical grade meth with a valid prescription of course. We don't even take the full amount. Blaise is it....hum?

Sorry...back to Parsons!

Remember a couple of months ago, when people were telling us that we HAD to fire Kelly, or our recruiting would be ruined?

To be fair, our police force also says that a greater emphasis was put on making these busts than ever before (across the state, I guess?). Delaware County does have a problem though. Our population is dropping and has been since the 1980s as we have lost most of our big business (Chevrolet, Borg Warner, etc.).

Agreed. Sounds like he's being raised by a single mom as we never hear/read about a dad, uncle or full-time male role model. Without that fatherly influence, there comes insecurity. He wanted to be shown "more love" whatever that amounted to. And Lyght doesn't sound like the recruiter who is going to cater to that. If so, he may want to rethink being a CFB coach b/c approx 70% of these kids have no dad or father figure in their life.

I love when people throw out arbitrary numbers to support an arguement

Well shit... Tip of the cap to ya!

But to be fair, when you said, "approx 70% of these kids have no dad or father figure in their life," I thought you meant all CFB recruits, not just a specific demographic. Nonetheless, still impressed by the stat.

I gotta say I did not expect a clap back with actual data and links that validates your number. Color me impressed and reading your post in a completely different tone now lol...

Facts don't care about tone. It's an epidemic in America. Just anecdotal, but a medium security prison I visit to help facilitate a course, I'd say the fatherless rate is even higher regardless of race.

Gotta be careful when describing statistics as facts! Setting aside difficult to deduce assumptions and sampling errors, they also have to be used narrowly.

Does 72% of AA kids being born out-of-wedlock = 72% of AA football recruits "having no dad or father figure in their life"?

Possibly, but I guarantee you others will argue that you can't conflate the two anymore... new forms of family arrangements and so forth.

This. Macro sample statistical facts being applied to uninvestigated micro samples is not scientific, unfair and ammunition for agenda drivers. And btw, I am the antithesis of a safe space snowflake.

Yeah, I figured it was a done deal. The Valley needed a good program over a market so that eliminated UNO and UWM. Valpo's historical rivalries with many of the MVC teams and being Chicagoland-ish beat out Murray's bid. Conferences like to have travel partners so Valpo and Loyola are now a road trip.
