FEI predicts a 16 point Irish victory with an 83% chance of at least winning outright.

This Syracuse team is a bit overrated which is largely a byproduct of the dearth of 2 loss teams from power 5 conferences. The committee is getting so desperate to find worthy teams to rank they are taking multiple 4 loss teams in the late teens and 20s. We have more undefeated and one loss contenders than usual this late in the year which also secondarily creates a wider gap between the haves and the have nots in the top 25.

Consider this a gift resume booster for ND with a win and a rare bad-loss-that-doesnt-look-so-bad if they lose. ND needs to dominate this one to continue building playoff momentum and I think the right combination of variables are in place for them to do so.

The crazy thing to me is that while people love their offense and Dungey their stats are more a product of tempo than efficiency. They're not top 25 in adjusted offense, and Dungey is #52 in QBR. Book, for comparison, is 8th. The reason they put up points is tempo + turnovers + special teams... not a super-skilled, super-potent offense. If this game was at home I'd pick us to win handily.

Yup. Dungey is scrappy. More BW like, then an accurate and efficient QB. He's got some RBs and WRs that are skilled though. No superstars, but solid. I'm more worried about his legs, and the overall tempo than I am of his passing skills. Our experience with big/tall WRs should help keeping Custis in check. I do worry a little about the small WRs crossing.

If ND can get that run game to be productive for the second week in a row (a tall order based on the previous up & down performances), SU doesn’t have the front 7 depth to keep the dam from breaking.

I suspect SU will load the box to take away the run. If Book can be surgical in the short passing game it won’t matter. Win the TO battle, win the LOS & “do no harm” w/ ST.

Syracuse gets a lot of INT's and sacks, so preventing negative plays will be paramount to keeping our distance from them. I'm firmly confident ND will be able to stop them enough times defensively.

I took a look at their numbers though:

Andre Cisco leads Syracuse with 5 INTs on the year. However, all 5 of them came against Western Michigan, Wagner, UConn and Louisville. The latter two rank near the absolute bottom in terms of turnover margin and total giveaways per game and WMU isn't far behind ranking 111th and 98th in those aspects.

Have to watch out for Coleman and Robinson, their DE tandem. They're not good run defenders, but they have been able to get in the backfield quite a bit (though they haven't played an OL as good as this all season minus maybe Clemson).

Looking all this up, I was disappointed to see that Tillery has only had 1 TFL and no sacks in the last 5 games.

I do wonder if he might be dinged up a bit. He hasn't played as many snaps recently and his production is definitely down.

Andre Cisco = the other starting safety at IMG last year next to Houston Griffith.

Kendall Coleman = Overlooked prospect out of good ole Indy Cathedral. Poor man's K Kareem from the 2016 class. A lot of local B1G programs missed on him. Has been a producer all three seasons.

Let's say Notre Dame gets a blowout over Syracuse. Not saying that will happen, but in the hypothetical that it does...

...is there any grounds for Clemson being #2 over Notre Dame? Notre Dame would have better SOS, better wins, better performance against their one shared quality opponent, and be undefeated. The only argument I can think of is that Clemson beat Wake and FSU by larger margins.

Since I'm driving during the game, I'm looking into how to listen to the game via radio. My buddies recommended either SiriusXM or an app called TuneIn. Does anybody have any experience using either for ND games?

No, the committee has never had the balls big enough to make a change in the ranks based off SOS and quality wins. If Notre Dam blew out Syracuse, wins over WF and FSU wouldn't be enough to rank Clemson over ND; Notre Dame blew those teams out too, a blow out is a blow out.

I am sure people will make up some excuse like the "eye test" being different or something like that.

I was thinking about that last night. Provided they take care of business, ND is gonna get more credit for their win over Syracuse than Clemson did at the time based on rankings... but I don't see the committee having the guts to move them ahead of Clemson, despite the fact that ND's resume and SOR would be better at that point.

Everyone loves Trevor Lawrence and Clemson's DL too much, and they've already written into history that Clemson is on a collision course with Bama.

Dabo would love it if ND jumped ahead, though, as he could start playing up the "disrespect" angle.

Pretty sure TuneIn wont work for the game. Black-out type of thing.

But Clemson's win will be better because they had to use their backup QB and that matters to the committee...

I see your point, but does it really matter? The only thing I can think of is who will be called the home team in the playoff. I assume the higher ranked team is considered the home team? The thing I would like about ND being the home team is we could wear the Blue home jersey and not the awful away whites.

I have used Radio.com to listen to ND games before.

EDIT: They have a phone app (which is what I actually used).

The Catholic Channel on Sirius carries the games. It’s the ND raidio broadcast.

We’re headed to FL on Saturday to spend Thanksgiving with one of our sons and family. Trying to decide whether to leave after the game or earlier and find a place to watch it somewhere down the road.

It matters in terms of protecting us from getting bumped to #4 in the "chaos scenarios". I still maintain that there is a 0% chance in any remotely objective system that ND gets left out entirely if undefeated, but being the #4 seed and playing Bama in the first round is a death sentence and stops us from having a chance at a major bowl win.

I think the talking heads and committee put a disproportionate weight behind the eye test, which can be very skewed depending on one's leanings. Clemson has certainly looked good against bad competition.

They struggled with Syracuse but to be fair, they were playing with an inexperienced backup. I think the committee will give them a pass on that game so I don't think it matters how much we win by (unless we boat race them to 70, which ain't happenin).

I think the eye test is used to justify Alabama's #1 ranking despite poor competition. They smashed LSU but the jury is still out on them. I definitely think the eye test should have some merit because nobody really wants to play Bama. They are destroying lesser teams.

I'm less worried about Clemson. I'd try to enjoy the game for what it is: A great match-up between two quality teams. I think Clemson would be a 62% favorite to win and I'm guessing they'd get 7 on us. I really hope we don't stumble in these last two weeks because it'll be a lot of fun to watch. I ultimately don't care if we're #2 or #3 when the game is set.

We won’t jump Clemson unless we beat SU and USC by by 50 or more. Everyone is talking about Bama clearly separating themselves, but they also talk about Clemson being a clear #2, then lumping ND, scUM, UGA and Ou in a group.

On Sirius XM, if you have it, the catholic channel 129, carries the ND radio network.

Tune in may or may not work. Sometimes even if a station is "the voice of ______ (insert team here)", they may or may not broadcast a special event thru their streaming service because of rights

Thus far, Syracuse has played three opponents ranked in the S&P top 75 - Clemson #2, Pitt #62 and NC State #45. They're 1-2.

The rest of their schedule:
#87 FSU
#95 North Carolina
#98 Western Michigan
#104 Louisville
#130 UConn
FCS Wagner

Cuse is a good team - they put points on the board and it's more than possible that they beat ND. But given their record against teams worth half a shit, there is no reason ND shouldn't take care of business.

I've used TuneIn before when driving during the 1st half of the Vandy game and while at a wedding for the Pitt game. It was tough due to blackouts of some markets, but I was able to finally find a station on it that covers ND football. You might have to input multiple stations to find one just right.

Here are the stations that cover it:
