Steel Magnolias

If you haven't you should, If you have you should have.

1989 version
Roger Ebert
"Steel Magnolias" is essentially a series of comic one-liners leading up to a teary tragedy, but let it be said that the one-liners are mostly funny and the tragedy deserves most, but not all, of the tears.

If Ebert only knew how shallow the future would be.

I grew up with two sisters so being outnumbered I've seen that movie several times. It's alright but lord does it crawwwwwwwl. I do remember the opening theme of the soundtrack is excellent though.

"Burn After Reading." It was amusing and the cast was obviously having a blast. But it seemed like it couldn't decide between being a "Big Lebowski" goof fest or a "Fargo" darkly comic tragedy. Definitely a middle-of-the-road Coen Brothers offering.

I saw The Post on Sunday. Pretty good, but I'd be surprised if it won Best Picture. Hanks' and Streep's accents were a bit distracting, but it's still a fun, well-done flick

Bummer about the reviews. I really liked the first one and loved the second one (which was kind of a spinoff?)

I'll still watch the 3rd soon.

Went with the wife (and a theatre full of giggly teenage girls) to see Forever My Girl. Now she must attend The 15:17 to Paris with me (and a bunch of over the hill heroes). It better be good as I paid a dear price to see it.

Took my wife to see The Greatest Showman a couple weeks ago. First and only musical I've ever seen that I didn't hate. If you're looking to score points with your significant other, I'd recommend it as a remarkably tolerable chick flick.

Winchester, awful awful awful movie

I think its hilarious that apparently so many people think its a spinoff from the TV show Supernatural.

FYI I just watch the RiffTrax version of The Curse of Bigfoot

"Maniac Cop." There's nothing better than schlock that is being played with good movie aspirations.

i went and saw Black Panther last night. In my opinion, it is definitely the best Marvel movie that I have seen in a long time. It had some really good acting as well; Michael B. Jordan, surprisingly, plays a really good villain.

My christmas present to the wife was tickets to see "Beautiful" (musical about Carole King). Not a fan of musicals, but this was very good. Chronicled her life and her music. I knew she had written a number of hits that were sung by others, but was surprised to see how large a number she had written before getting recognition for her Tapestry album.

Michael B. Jordan is in it? Haven't seen him in any trailers. That's cool. He's a great actor.

Black Panther was most dope.

Packed a lot of cinematic devices into the run time without making it feel overwhelming, and included plenty of political messaging without beating you over the head with it and taking away from the action.

Also, Black Panther now takes my number one spot for armor/tech.

And Michael B. Jordan was spectacular, as usual.

Black Panther was great. Excellent story. Cant really add much other than the cinematography was boss. Beuatiful, vibrant, old and new meshing.

Oh great, because that's why I go see a comic movie for

There was plenty of it in “Captain America: Winter Soldier,” and that’s probably one of the best Marvel movies as a true “film” and not just popcorn movie.

It’s a good tool for providing depth and enhancing the plot when done right, and Black Panther got it right.

Also, Superman basically got his start as a political message. There’s precedent for it.
