no issues man... I figured. Thanks for the input.

Hacksaw Ridge is definitely worth the time, especially when you think about this being a true story. Maybe the greatest war hero of all time.

Saw the new Jumanji. It was pretty good for a popcorn movie.

Deepened my crush on Karen Gillan whom I first saw on Doctor Who.

I own Creed, Hacksaw Ridge, Fury, and a few other recentish movies I haven't been able to sit and watch (all gifts by those who assumed I'd enjoy them)... I've seen enough of Fury on TV to get the gist of it but the other two I haven't seen a second of... I assume all three are worth my time?
Hacksaw Ridge was better than I thought it would be, Fury was cool up until the battle at the end of the movie which ruined the movie for me

Son is 10 and daughter 17. Wife and I took them to see Wonder this weekend. Good movie to help teach some important lessons in life. It is a terrific movie.

Curious to the lessons learned..

I just posted so I'm sorry for the consistency...
The end of Fury Is what sums up the whole movie, In my opinion. The movie is about the struggle of those that led and operated Tanks before Bradley's came into the fruit. The end is about as dramatic and tear-jerking as it gets for men my age I guess. "The best job I ever had", Sums up the reality of that brotherhood and explains the movie into lil pieces of brotherhood and courage.

In other words, watch it again and put yourself were your self can understand that reality.

Speaking of Hacksaw Ridge, I finally got around to watching it the other day. I thought it was pretty amazing. It probably could have been a little bit shorter but that's really my only issue. I found myself getting frustrated with this guy for not using a weapon but you gotta respect his convictions. Crazy to think you could go into this battle completely unarmed. Dude was a true hero.

Also got around to watching The Road. Man it is depressing. Very dark and the lack of humanity is disturbing. Not quite as good as I had hoped for but worth watching, unless you want to be happy.

Tank lost. Story lives on forever.

Watched the Big Sick on Amazon Prime and its terrible. I have no idea how it got nominated for an Oscar. The acting is so wooden and just everything is so irritating about it. It's got 98% on RT, WTF is going on there.

What cracked me up is that this company of SS.... You know... the best troops the Fatherland has to offer... don't utilize any sort of tactics whatsoever. FRONTAL ASSAULT.

Rotten Tomatoes has been broken for a while or perhaps the entirety of its existence.

"The Iceman." Michael Shannon plays a cold-blooded mob hitman who is also a devoted husband and father. Based on a true story. Shannon does a great job and the film is low key and doesn't go for flashy gimmicks. The problem is that it's a story we've seen before; tough guy nobody becomes a big deal because he's a bigger bad ass than everyone else. The movie tells a very conventional story and doesn't do much with it. It needed more punch. It's worth a watch but not something I'd sit through again.

My wife and I took our 6-year-old daughter to see Jumanji last weekend. Cute movie, worth the time & money. Gillan's easy on the eyes. For some reason she makes me think of Eliza Dushku, though they don't really look much alike.

Over the last week I've watched Jumanji, The Foreigner, and 1922. All were worth watching.

Jumanji cracked me up. Jack Black and The Rock really nailed their roles and played them perfectly. It was a cool spin off of the old one.

I was a little disappointed in The Foreigner but that's probably because I had high expectations. It was still pretty good.

1922 was ok. Had a couple really creepy moments but overall it was kinda of slow with some parts that just kind of dragged along. Good "scary" movie tho. None of the cheap jump scares and stupid shit that ruins a lot of scary movies these days.

They're all very different movies obviously but if I just ranked them on how much I enjoyed watching them it would probably be
1. Jumanji
2. The Foreigner
3. 1922

Watched Only the Brave tonight. Not what I expected. Brolin and Teller were solid, wish Bridges had more PT, and I was reminded that Jennifer Connelly is still as hot as they come at near 50. Not an award winner, but very solid and a good change of pace.

Saw 3 Billboards a few weeks ago before the GG. Great movie. FM good as always, predicted Rockwell would win, and he did. Woody was fantastic.

Also watched The Shape of Water. Good movie, but wasn't as "great" IMO as the reviews I read. Very much worth the watch, just would not have nominated it for best picture. I think 2017 was a down year.

Trying to finish Molly's Game tonight, but getting sleepy.

Steel Magnolias

If you haven't you should, If you have you should have.

1989 version
Roger Ebert
"Steel Magnolias" is essentially a series of comic one-liners leading up to a teary tragedy, but let it be said that the one-liners are mostly funny and the tragedy deserves most, but not all, of the tears.

If Ebert only knew how shallow the future would be.

Logan and Wind River were my 2 personal favorites this year. I'm guessing neither will win a thing come award time but who cares. Those movies were great.

Enjoyed the hell out of both. Logan, probably the most enjoyable movie of the year for me. Was not what I expected going into it.

Logan broke my heart.

I recalled seeing these comments, as I started watching "Logan". That was a really good movie; so different from everything else in the X-Men franchise. That ending really got to me.
