Sad day for IE when Autry gets banned. I hope it is just a quick timeout. Putting aside politics, that guy is one of the most thoughtful and intelligent posters we have on this board whether we are talking about football, politics or anything else. I don't really get what he did to earn a ban in this thread, other than falling on the wrong side of an issue. I didn't necessarily agree with NJNP's approach and it seems like he didn't really care about being banned or not, just in getting his thoughts across. Autry was clearly not in that camp.
People on one side of these discussions are already greatly outnumbered just based on the demographics of this community. So I know it will be rare for anyone to be called out for their dog-whistle instigations, and I'm not shocked to see people do their Eddie Haskell routine when they actually are called out for it. That I can accept. But the additional insult of mods banning people seemingly just because they are personally tired of having to read viewpoints that don't conform to their own is a disgrace. The mod community here has to deal with a lot, and they have traditionally done a great job. But personal biases shouldn't influence how discipline is carried out here - which is a rather ironic point to have to make considering the nature of the underlying issue at the heart of this discussion. I get the strong impression that is what happened in the case of Autry's ban.
