They took David Cornwell and Cooper Bateman last year and the year before, respectively. Both were higher rated recruits than anyone on ND's roster... not sure how good they are in all actuality though.

Its not that the depth chart is better from a talent perspective but the thought that Zaire could be the starting QB when Blake stepped on campus gave him some pause. Its much harder to unseat the starting QB than it is to come in and challenge other back ups. That game experience is tough to overcome. Could Cornwell and Batemen end up being better than Zaire, of course, but they haven't shown that yet where Zaire already has. Also, its not just one thing, like my previous post said it was a lot of things that gave him pause.

Hope Barnett works out for us but he still put ND at a huge disadvantage for their QB recruiting this year. For that, he isn't starting off too good in my book. Hopefully Waller pulls the plug for the Irish and then we can all watch Hopkins and Oregon have their meltdown.
