Only Bama would have a 5-star QB decommit, only to end up with a better QB in the same class.

Do Blake's skills even translate to Bama's offense? He has a good to great arm in a running offense, and I can't remember many plays in which a Bama quarterback ran the ball -- at least on a designed run. Same goes for USC's offense under Kiffen. This seems like an odd match to me. But, I'm glad he didn't end up in Oregon because, well, fuck Oregon.

How Wonder Boy will use his skillset will be interesting to see as I don't think Barnett will be able to sit in the pocket all the time. His release is slower than molassas and that usually doesn't bode too well with speedy CBs a lot of schools have. Personally, I don't see him beating out a healthy Cornwell and if Coker stays the full two years, Barnett may not see any meaningful playing time at all anyway.

Maybe its a sign that Saban intends to spice things up a little on offense--keeping up with the Joneses.

I think Coker is like a better version of McCarron. The transition to BB would be smooth if he gets to wait.

Coker is a threat to run and can hurt teams with his feet which is something AJ couldn't do. Will be interesting to see what happens come fall with the offensive gameplan.

If that is what he wants to do, then I have no clue why he hired Lane.

Spice for Saban means hot sauce on his pinto beans.... changing his offense drastically is a whole other thing. Can't see him getting away from running the ball in favor of something else. More options possibly but he is gonna run the ball.

My quick searches around the interwebs seem to think that Saban/Kiffin are switching to a run-based spread, which would fit a "balanced" type of QB like Barnett. What say you, resident Bama expert (Bishop, feel free to jump in as co-expert)?

I don't disagree. I'm confused by this decision. As much as I hated him going to Oregon, I could understand it. Bama, I don't understand.

Saban has said in the hiring of Wonder Boy that he wanted the offense to "evolve" more. What that actually means is a guess at this point. Habits are hard to break... but his recent recruiting tactics seem to indicate that he is at least willing to entertain the idea of the run based spread. Maybe that's what Cooper was alluding to in spring practice when he said LK's offensive plan was more simplified and based off player mismatches.

He wants to win and go to the league. If those are priorities 1 and 2, Saban has the goods.

Which Alabama QB is your favorite in the NFL?

The last 2 Bama starters have gotten NFL deals without doing anything NFL-esque other than winning. If I'm talking to a stud QB recruit, it's an easy sell. Remember, it's not like we had a long list of current NFL QBs of our own to show off, and we've arguably had a lot more talent come in at that position.

Regardless of the position, Saban and his team have shown a great ability to get guys drafted, and get them drafted highly.

Pure awesomness.. Look at THIS quote: Barnett told ESPN.com. "I think academically it's a better choice"

Is Hopkins on suicide watch?

even if it means we miss on waller due to bad dominos, the fact that hopkins doenst get his man is (almost) worth it.

You can rest assured that Hopkins will put some type of spin on it to save face.

We're bellied up to the bar with Oregon, going back and forth, buying this whore drink after drink and then she leaves with Saban to park it on bama's face. Well played Saban.

It's that chick that knew all along she was going home with the dude in the corner even though she was dancing and drinking with a couple of others all night.

It would make sense if depth chart was a factor Saban/Kiffin could've just said we plan on switching to a run based spread and everyone recruited in prior years was a pro style QB. You come here you will have an excellent chance to start early given your skill set.
