Lol your obsession is beyond cute. You don't bother me, I have better things to do that start threads about you or follow your comments.

Then block me. You obviously do care, since you keep coming into my thread. I don't know why you just can't block me so you don't have to read posts of me and my friends talking about wooden spoons.

Like I would take your advice on wooden spoons anyway. Don't you know how much money I make? I work for a Fortune 500 company.

whichever you chose, just don't ever put a wooden spoon in the dishwasher.
hand wash only with soap and water.

I feel like you're piling on me just because you don't like my thread. Well, I couldn't care less what you think and I'm not going to quit telling it as it is. If you don't like wooden spoons, then that's your problem.

Block me if you don't like it.

Don't worry about Koon, he's not the best evaluator of wooden spoons nor does he understand that oft times a 3 star rated spoon is better than the 5 star rated spoon. This is a direct result of posting girlfriends' pictures online w/o their fathers' approval, being too white, too short and being unable to dunk.

But he does know his vaccums now.

Start with these. Make your own. The satisfaction you get from creating something yourself that will last you a lifetime will be tremendous. You'll thank me later.

Hi guys. I'm looking for a wooden spoon. I've always wanted a wooden spoon and now I would like to get one. Can you tell me what a good wooden spoon brand is, where to get it and how much it costs? I would also be interested in how you use your wooden spoons? I've never personally used one, but I'm sure I'll be great at it. That's also the reason why I probably won't listen to any advice of yours on wooden spoons. But I would really appreciate the advice.

Is this a good wooden spoon?

I'm sure some internet bully on here will pile on me about this wooden spoon being used, but I don't want to hear about how it's unsafe or unsanitary. I just want your opinions on wooden spoons.

Thanks,

~Bug

My dad would kill anyone that went near his pasta while it was cooking or when it was time to serve it with anything but wooden spoons. I think he told me you'd bruise the pasta or something...IDK. He was adamant though.

My mom used them as disciplinary devices...

When I went to college, we found like seven of them hidden in my bedroom...so I used to have some extras apparently.

Anywho, I use them to cook with...

material wise...IDK. My dad had a layered oak one (like a butcher block looking kinda deal) back in the 70s that he protected...oiled it with olive oil...had a spot he hung it...I guess Italians are opinionated about sauce and cooking utensils...shrug. I think my mom broke it on my brother's ass...:).

I've always used whatever was hanging out at the grocery store...but I still have issues approaching pasta without a wooden spoon. Go figure.

All the women on the Italian half of my family swear by the wooden spoon as a disciplinary device. OP, they'd surely recommend a heaftier wooden spoon that won't break when you have to lay down the law.

again...I answered wooly before I read these...funny

I'd like input on a cutting board (not joking) but don't want to start another thread.

Thoughts on wood vs the white plastic like you see in restaurants? I have both but I worry that the wood ones hold bacteria.

I have a couple of those really thin plastic ones. Love them because you can just throw them in the dishwasher without taking up much space.

I have 3 smaller ones that are thin and flexible. But I'm looking for input on a large one for meats and such. I have a few wood ones, and I'd like to toss them honestly. I worry they harbor bacteria.

Growing up we had a big wooden spoon on our wall, It was right next to a large wooden fork. Always wanted to eat with them as a kid but lost the urge as I got older..

If you get wood while spooning, just tickle the bean a little and slip it right in. If you are unsure about the cranberry situation, be safe and go with the plastic. If you are not sure your wood while spooning is wanted, pull an acamp and tuck it between your legs.

We use a wooden one for fruits and vegetable and a glass one for all meats. You are right, the wooden one will carry bacteria.

EDIT: Great thread Wooly

The only input I have about wooden spoons is a mother can use them as a pretty potent discipline tool against a child's backside. I felt the wrath of a wooden spoon many times growing up. It certainly wasn't as scary as dad's belt, but when used right, the wooden spoon was a very powerful motivational tool to quit being an obnoxious little pipsqueak.

Thanks for the input. All wooden ones will immediately be moved to the trash bin.
