What Color is the Dress?

Black and blue here, has been every time I've seen the picture.

OK so I have looked at this picture a bunch of times and only saw white/gold with thinking the white has maybe a little tint of blue. I also voted for white/gold believing that was the color. As I went back to the original post I still saw the white/gold. I then stared at the black cow like pattern behind the dress. As I was doing that I could see the dress change color right before my eyes. If I cut the bottom half of the picture off (the black and white cloth behind the dress) I see white/gold still, but looking at the entire photo and staring at the cow cloth I see the dress definitely Blue/Black in that picture.

I was really pissed that I couldn't see white and gold, but I finally saw it an hour or so ago and again when I first opened this thread. Each time only for a brief moment. As my eyes adjust, it is clearly blue and black.

I stared at it for awhile and it was white and gold the whole time. It wasn't until I looked away then looked back that it became black and blue. I can't see white and gold now no matter how hard I try.

When my wife showed this to me last night: White/Gold

When I looked at the pic in the original post: White/Gold

After reading everyone's posts and going back: Now it's Black/Blue


I'm perplexed now. I voted white/gold because that is what I originally saw. At that point, I even knew that the true color was black/blue and saw the picture they have in better light proving it. Despite that, I still saw white/gold.... but now... now I see black/blue.

This is me also. I have really tried too see that particular picture in the blue/black color scheme and cannot. I have seen it on phones, computers, and TV screens and all I see is white/gold.

I can see the faintest tint of Carolina Blue on the white, but not enough to get my eyes to see the true colors of the dress which I have seen in other pictures several times.

This stupid thing almost caused a fight in our house last night. I am the only white/gold person in the family.

I'm on a never ending mass text with about 8 friends. I thought there was going to be fist fight over this damn Dress last night, must of went through 300 texts. Black and Blue is the only thing I see. 2 of my friends also saw Blue and Black, everyone else was White and Gold.

Didn't read any comments, so apologies if someone has already mentioned this.

What color is the dress? Very simple. It depends on what the dress is being displayed on. Line up four different TV's, monitors mobile phones, etc. and you'll see something different due to the pixels, refresh rate, color palette, etc..

If you go to HH Greg or Best Buy and look at all of the TV's you see a difference. Same principle here.


BTW......You're all wrong. It's purple and green nad I love my new hi-def monitor I picked up at goodwill for $10.

On my tablet and on our bedroom TV on the Mike & Mike show this morning, I saw blue/black on both and looking at same pic on same two items at the same time, my wife said white/gold.

In the original post on this thread on my work computer, when I only see the top 1/4 of the pic, i get white/gold, as I scroll down and get whole pic, I get blue/black

The thing I don't understand is how people can see golden brown as black? Like, if you're telling me you are seeing the white part as a very pale shade of blue, OK, I can forgive you for that. But don't sit here and try to tell me that the golden brown part of the dress is black.

Is this the Truman show? Are you all in on some elaborate conspiracy to get me to have a mental breakdown? I don't care what lighting it is in or what kind of tricks a brain may be expected to play....there is NO SHOT that there is any black in that dress.

I can literally see both sets of colors in the OP picture. It is amazing when the picture turns colors. It is easier to see the white and gold, but when I stare at the black in the bottom left corner I can get the dress to change to Black/Blue. It is not that people are seeing the gold/brown color and saying it is black. The gold/brown color actually turns black. It is amazing if you can get the dress to turn colors.
