Going up for this game, and it has been a while since I've gone without buying tickets ahead of time. Is it reasonable to expect to be able to buy a ticket that is not upper level end zone for a decent price?

I don't need to be on the 50 yard line. I just want one that is not in the endzone...corners would be okay. What do you think I could get those for from scalpers?

Thanks for any help, fellas.

BTW, if ND couldn't handle BSU's 3-4, lookout this week. Take the under.

I really don't think it was about not being able to handle it so much as they were just playing hungover from the week before. While I do think the smart bet is the under, I don't think it plays out anything like the Ball State game. ND by 10, but only because of a late garbage TD against the 2s/3s.

I took the under last week.

I did too.... but then tried to stack my bet, and take the Over for the second half , as there was a 12 point "in between" where I could win both bets!............. Didnt work :-( lol

I'd take that 10 pt. win, but IF the Irish are up by only 17 late 4th qtr, I doubt that very many "3's" will be on the field. If there are, I'd have to chug another beer or two at that point to calm the nerves!

You don't think the reserves would get burn with a 3-possession lead heading into last 7-8 minutes of the game?

Pat Forde just predicted Vandy 24, ND 22.

He’s been anti-ND since they fired Willingham. Any chance he gets to take a jab, he does it. TBF, that abysmal showing vs Ball St will elicit more Vandy picks than normal.

I sure as the hell wouldn't take that chance. A late touchdown, an onside kick recovery and all of a sudden things get a little bit dicey! Just saying ….

I don't think it's far fetched. Nd has 6 quarters of football that resulted in inept offensive results. We will see this weekend whether the first two quarters were more real or if the Las six are.

Man, that's too bad. Most of the experts were right on with their scUM predictions, too.

Those predictions were with no sample size.

Everyone has 2 games sample now, so the predictions theoretically should be much more sound.

Yes because beating MTSU and Nevada says so much about a team.

In fairness they beat both of them like they stole something... whereas we had to run the clock out on BSU... I'm still fairly confident last week was your average letdown game but who knows.

Hits on the running game and the o-line not being technically sound.

Can't hide the fact Notre Dame can't run the football
David Woods, Indianapolis Star Published 5:24 p.m. ET Sept. 9, 2018 | Updated 10:19 a.m. ET Sept. 10, 2018

Two games represent small sample size in college football. So what to make of Notre Dame’s sputtering offense?

Not even coach Brian Kelly can explain it.

"We’re in that process of kind of figuring out our identity on the offensive side of the ball,” he said Sunday.

The Fighting Irish have been especially ineffective running the ball. Out of 130 teams, they are close to last – 120th – in yards per attempt, 2.83. They are 106th in rushing yards per game, 124.5.

That would be tolerable if they had one of the most efficient passing offenses. They don’t.

Notre Dame ranks 94th in team passer rating, and Brandon Wimbush is 89th among quarterbacks. Wimbush has completed 55 percent of his passes, but with one touchdown and four interceptions.

Perhaps shortcomings were inevitable given the loss of two top-10 NFL draft picks on the offensive line (Quenton Nelson and Mike McGlinchey) and a 1,400-yard rusher (Josh Adams).

In Saturday’s 24-16 victory over Ball State, the Irish totaled 73 yards on two running plays. Otherwise, they had 44 yards in 39 attempts. Even disregarding 25 yards lost to four sacks of Wimbush, Notre Dame did not average two yards on the other rushes.

“When we evaluate our running game, we’re really looking for the technical soundness of it,” Kelly said. “We were fundamentally in the positions we needed to be. We just didn’t finish plays.”

Wimbush is perhaps Notre Dame’s top runner, but he had a net minus-7 yards against Ball State.

Notre Dame won the Joe Moore Award last season as the nation’s top offensive line. The five the Irish are starting – center Sam Mustipher, guards Alex Bars and Tommy Kraemer, tackles Liam Eichenberg and Robert Hainsey – is not changing, Kelly said. The coach acknowledged they need to be more physical and consistent.

“We weren’t assignment sound and technically sound. That’s all it was,” Mustipher said Saturday.

Kelly reiterated he is sticking with Wimbush, saying the quarterback threw “with a sense of purpose.” The coach said is looking for better footwork, reads and decisions from his quarterback.

Notre Dame has scored touchdowns on its first possession in three of four halves. The 21 other possessions have produced just three TDs. That is the inconsistency to which Kelly alluded.

“We sometimes hold onto the last play too long, whether it’s a good play or a bad play,” he said. “We have to move on to the next play.”

Defense remains elite
Notre Dame ranks among national leaders in meaningful defensive statistics.

The Irish are 13th in yards allowed per play (3.95) and 16th in opponents’ passer rating. They have allowed just four plays of 20 or more yards to rank 14th.

Linebacker Te’von Coney is seventh individually with 16 solo tackles.

“He’s playing at a pretty high level for us,” Kelly said.[/QUOTE]

No Adams, Dex (at the moment), Deon, CJ...

Not sure why some of you were expecting sustained success. That's crippling loss.

I totally get the regression, but it's still funny and a pretty drastic swing in just one year. I mean you don't hear OU talking about how they "can't pass the ball" because they lost some players... it's pretty rare to see this kind of dialogue with a major program from one year to the next.

Well, you're supposed to recruit their replacements.

We did. They, respectively, stole a pair of pants, got caught with a prostitute and (allegedly) smoked too much pot. We currently have one returning running back eligible to play, and he’s not exactly Barry Sanders. Thems the breaks.

Been seeing a lot experts picking Vandy in an upset... by the time Saturday roles around picking Vandy will be the trendy thing to do. Which makes me think ND rolls 55-0.

It's disgusting that ND is home/Vandy away and people are actually predicting they win.

This. You plan to lose a junior starting running back because shelf life, you don't plan to lose the three behind him.
