That's not my understanding of it. As I said before, PSU doesn't want to hire another coach before sanctions end. I don't think there are exclusion clauses. But then again, I haven't read the contract and I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt it.

Then he doesn't have any "outs" (ie exclusion clauses) in his contract. Just buyout a clause. His buyout would be no different than if he wanted to take a different NCAA job. If he has to pay any money for an "out" for an NFL job, it just means that he has a buyout.

For instance, the elleged "ND Exclusion" that Meyer supposedly had for schools like ND and OSU meant that his buyout with Florida wouldn't kick in if he chose either of those schools. Not saying that he had this language in his contract, but if he did, thats what it meant.

He also said distance won't be a factor and that's appearing to be not true

Penn State is a school that has intrigued Holley for a few reasons and is a school that has a good chance to make it into his top list.

"It's not an in-state school, but it's close enough to home so I can call it in-state," he said. "I definitely like their program, and it's not too far from home.

well it at leasts seems to be a factor recently...a lot of kids say that initially until they travel for visits and truly understand the distance in real time vs. seeing it on a map.

It won't be long before Charlie wears out the schematic advantage he has at Kansas. Then, he can devote all of his energies in schematically spending the buy out money Notre Dame keeps sending him.

It shall be a fine day when the University's highest paid coach is actually coaching at the University.

Is this a video of tOSU fans walking through a frat galla before a football game??? That's what it looks like. Now what the PSU fans/frat boys did is disgusting and wrong... and I'm not defending them... but what the hell are the tOSU fans thinking walking by that madness?? I have said many times that the so cal sports fans are much more mild (UCLA and USC for example) but even when I go to the Rose Bowl people openly talk about avoiding the frat crowds...

OSU fans are no different...I went down there for the big Texas-OSU game -- was at a big house party that was a part of a few house parties in a row...Texas fans would walk towards the stadium on the other side of the street and the fans would throw ice and beer cans and even a construction cone at them while heckling them.

When I was at Michigan the worst I got was just some simple heckling -- Clausens freshman year...ugly.

This is just disgusting behavior. I agree with the poster saying should not walk by frat row or whatever, but if you do should not expect this kind of treatment, just one more reason why fraternities should not exist and are detrimental to their schools and college life in general. But that's another topic, what is most unfortunate about this video is it is not an isolated incident and happens not just at PSU but all over the country. Says something about society. No fan anywhere should be in fear to go support their team at home or on the road. Heckling, even when it crosses the line into verbal abuse, is not that big of a deal to me, but throwing things and engaging in physical confrontations is disgraceful. It should not be cheered by the home fan base but instead people that behave like this should be treated as pariahs by their fellow fans. I am glad Ive never seen this at ND, or anywhere for that matter, closest Ive seen is at Yanks-Red Sox games back in like 2004 and that was limited to verbal abuse.

I probably should not have included that line, because off topic. FWIW I do not fault an individual for being in a frat or think it makes them a bad guy or whatever. I do feel that in general frats create divisions on campus, lead to more binge drinking, and increase sexual assaults on college campuses. There is a lot more I could say on this but again its off topic so if there is desire for further discussion of frats perhaps we should start a thread or move to a more appropriate thread, if not that's def. cool too. Last thing I will say is BY FAR the best college atmosphere and community I experienced were during an exchange program at University of Warwick in England and ND, neither of which have frats.

I dunno know what year you went to Leadership School, but when I went in 2007, it was on a cruise. It was awesome and definitely a highlight of my college career as well.

I think they started the cruises in 2006? Maybe?

Also, T Town Tommy is a SAE. We have 3 here on the board. Anyone else?

If this kid is serious about becoming an engineer major then he should stay at Purdue. Purdue, from what I've been told, has a top-10 (or at least top 15) engineering programs in the nation. Granted ND's overall degree value might be worth more. However, if this kid is serious about getting an education with a focus on engineering then I would not be surprised if he stayed put.

Depends on specifically what type of engineering you're trying to do. For some disciplines, schools like Kansas State and Penn State blow Purdue out of the water. You'd actually be shocked at how good of a school for engineering Kansas State is (for the right programs) and how many KSU alums are powerful players at major companies.

With that being said... look, the bottom line is that if you go to a school like Notre Dame and are an engineer you're going to be hired and probably have a better career than people who went to "engineering-centric" schools. The reason is that you're more prepared to actually RUN a company. And many fields basically require you to get a Masters... at which point the extra 2-3 classes at a Purdue you took instead of ND's mandatory Philosophy and Theology classes become pretty darn irrelevant. The writing skills I developed from Philosophy classes coupled with sports writing I did after picking up a bunch of torn ligaments back to back to back have gotten me promotions over a lot of people who are far better "engineers" than I am.

Really getting off topic from Tranquill now... so suffice to say Purdue is very good for engineering but it's pretty impractical for a football player to major in engineering, and even a large swath of general populous students with no other time demands find it too challenging and drop. So if you're not 100% stone cold sure you're going to be an engineer, choosing a school like a Stanford/Duke/Northwestern/Notre Dame that has strong programs outside of the College of Engineering to give yourself options is probably preferable to Purdue.
