shans is from Minny dude, I think he's just playing along.

FROM is the operative word. Even he left (Far Left) Minny.

Now that he's retired, he's moved from The Land of Black Flies and Black Ice to The Land of Zika and Hurricane Matthew.

We'll be sitting together Saturday in Everbank in the Navy section (my sister bought the tickets) rooting for the Swabbies to come in a solid second.

Are you guys doing any pregame festivities? I will be on the other side of the stadium from you.

Great-Great Uncle flew a B-24 over the Fatherland, P-51's in Korea. Recently passed away. pretty interesting story, his mother won National Mother of the Year. Only complaint about the man is he is buried in that shithole next door instead of in his native state.

Lt. Col. Francis S. Bodine, (Ret. USAF) Obituary | Star Tribune

Very cool story. My God Father's dad was a survivor of USS Indianapolis that sunk at sea. Really great guy...went on to be a fireman for years. Passed away not too long ago as well, January 2013.

I hadn't even looked at this thread until today, because I figured there wasn't a lot to be said. Boy was I wrong. Canada pisses off half the posters with his comment, pouts and leaves to do some more manly work on an oil rig while North Dakota with his inferiority complex about his state takes a shot at our resident hippy. Pretty funny stuff.

P.S. Ol' Sherm sure seems to be a little edgy the last few weeks. lol

Can't tell them apart though... they all look and act the same with their beady lil eyes and their head's all full of lies.

I don't know why I am so amused by this thread but I needed this after the constant fire Kelly threads of the last three months... Working on an Oil Rig in Northern Canada haha

Sherm, I respect you as an ND fan and fantastic poster. My comments about Navy's lineman had nothing to do with the military or your country. To disrespect me and my country and our military (if we have one, I haven't checked) is kinda harsh. I hope you were kidding. Don't EVER disrespect ME or my country again or I will not come on this site again.
Not kidding

Are you going to J'ville?

Yes, flying in Friday morning to Orlando to hang with the in-laws and heading to the hotel Friday night and then heading back up for the game Saturday

Gonna have a good old fashioned dogfight on our hands. Hopefully we have an 08 result and not a 2010 result. But I'm hoping that the end result of the year is like 2010. Hope Miami was a new beginning.

I arrive at JAX 10 am on Friday. Have no set plans for tailgate or other activities at this point. My sister and nephew arrive by car late afternoon. So I have Friday to wander. I don't know how much tailgating will get done for an 11:39 kickoff.

J'ville ND club has tailgate but it's sold out according to their website. dshans may know more. ( ... of course he knows more, he's a hippy but he's also local).

Check your pms.

Well ...

My Irish Hippy/Thug life just gets curiouser and curiouser.

It turns out that me brudder and his loverly bride will be here in J-Hole from NY for the weekend.

Me twin Sis has acquired six tix on the 50 yard line. I now have fambly oblergations.

BGIF: I 'umbly offer shuttle service from JAX to Jax Beach Friday morn. I gots yer number and will call.

For those speculatin', I was born in Manhattan, moved to FL at age six, put in 4+ change in The Bend, a few more in FL after and then 36 (or so) years in Minneapolis – it's hard to say, what with dementia settling into my drug addled brain and all.

[More acetylsalicylic acid than anything else, truth be told.]

There is dust to be settled and earnest tailgate research to be done ...

Efficiency critical for Notre Dame offense against Navy
By Nick Ironside 12/3/16

The Irish were successful against the Midshipmen last season as they rolled to a 42-24 win. In that game, ND had 11 drives—its average against Navy over the course of Kelly’s seven-year tenure. This season they’re averaging a little more than 13 drives per game, and they have had fewer than 13 possessions on two occasions: against Stanford (10) and Miami (12).

I wasn't aware of Kelly's 11 drive annual average nor the increase to 13 this year, an 18% increase. Eliminate the 3 ST gaffes against Miami and ND would have had 15.

On the hand you get more opportunities on offense when your ST and Defense create takeaways OR when you're allowing the opposition to score often (See BVG). This game could realistically be 42-24 by either team.

As much as I like Yoon, ND needs to be rolling consistent 7's not 3's.

ND really needs to get Navy into 3rd and longs and either force them to pass or stuff them on 3rd down. Otherwise Navy will have 4-1/4-2's and they won't hesitate to go for it and likely get the yardage to prolong the drive...and clock.

This is the one game where even if it's 4th down i don't get excited because Navy goes for it a lot.

Note: They've gone for it 14 times this year and converted 8 (57%)

Ya but they failed on 6 of them and their schedule isnt extremely tough aside from air force, and houston.

But they only convert 51% of their 3rd downs, 46 of 90.

In their two losses they've converted 46%.

Forcing them to pass this year hasn't been a good choice. Navy completes 58% of their passes but it jumps to 65% on 3rd down and 80% on 3rd and long (10+ yds).

I imagine this is another 3-4 game for us Saturday, it just works well against what Navy tries to do offensively. I have no worries regarding the dive if Jarron/Tillery are the ones in at NT. Both players have done well there against Navy. Hopefully our linebackers can help set the edge and lock up the option.

Defensively, we have an effective rotation on all three levels (for the most part) in relation to defending Navy IMO. Tillery/ Jones/ Cage - on the inside are all huge men,Isaac is smart and been through this Navy stuff before. I never trust or have faith in Trumbetti but I think hey MAY make a play against Navy. Morgan, Ono, Coney, Bilal....they're perfect for the Navy O. Fast, young....no worries. Our young DB's leave me a lil worried but I have faith unlike some of the pooh-butt pansies around here.
