IMO winning by less than 20 is unacceptable. BK wont talk about style points, but we need them.

Agreed. I know the line is only 14 for this game, but frankly we should win by 28+. If they score more than 2 TDs, our defensive game plan was horrible. If we don't score 42+ then I have no idea who screwed up but someone did.

We should be able to run at will on them even with our so-so OL. None of their secondary players should be able to match speed with our receivers. So whatever we want to do we should be able to do. There are no excuses for ever getting stopped on offense. We should score every drive and have Zaire in by the 4th.

I'll be surprised if we punt one time, personally

Depends on if we take the ball first or not...sort of, kind of kidding.

We'll have open guys running all over the field. EG throws for 400+

Then number 4 will beat 3 or vice versa and we'll still be chasing both in the new system...cause Hayden and Rice say so.

Screw it... if the committee thinks we dont win well enough, leave Golson in and embarrass the shipmen by 40.

Pump the brakes a little, there. Some of those players WILL go on to give their lives in service to this country. Many more will make smaller, yet still significant, sacrifices. I'm all for impressing the voters, just not against the Service Academies.

I doubt their players would want Kelly's sympathy. Play them the same way they play - all out every play.

BLAH...let then play college soccer or something else then. Between the lines man, it is football.

Whatever. They signed up to play a game, not have us coddle them because they are in the service. I give them all of the respect in the world for what they do after football, but that doesn't mean that we somehow owe them something on the football field and need to take it easy on them. I highly doubt they would want that either.

Hell, my brother wants us to pound Navy and he is a Navy veteran.

As am I. And I never suggested that we coddle them. I simply am saying don't run the score up on them, just to impress the voters.

Well... we disagree. You're not going to change my opinion on this.

Ummm, yes...if that's what it takes to get #10 up to 4. I'm not saying that we need to absolutely demolish them (like we could with that option anyway), but having a close win hurts a lot more than it helps.

So other sports don't have blowouts? Or athletes in other sports aren't competitive to the point that they want to run up the score?

I do agree that we need to blow them out. I would really like us to get way ahead, put in some back-ups, and continue to dominate.

Have always hated Navy week. They mess up our strength of schedule. They run that dumb ass option that only makes the most diciplined defenses look bad. They typically play us close...which the haters love to shove in our face. And we debate whether we should beat the fvck out of them or not because they ultimately put their lives on the line to keep us safe. Drop them from the schedule PLEASE. There is absolutely nothing positive about scheduling them...not a thing. IMO

No, of course not. I more meant play a different sport if they expect to win this game...we've beat Navy longer, more often than anybody. Although, since Charlie, they've been more competive...but not this year.

That'll never happen, not in a million years. When Notre Dame was basically facing bankruptcy right in the face during WWII, the Naval Academy used Notre Dame as a training center and paid enough to pretty much keep Notre Dame an actual thing.

So in return, Notre Dame plays Navy every year

Sharpen up your history pencil, Booslum. We owe Navy for our existence. You wouldn't have any Notre Dame football to watch without their goodwill towards our university. The day we turn our back on Navy will be the day we lose our core values.

Will never, should never happen.... ever...

I never knew that...thanks. I hope that that doesn't mean that we aren't allowed to beat the living snot out of them too.

We should win by 28+ but expect it to be more in the mid-low teens. Combination of BVG's first go around with the option plus inexperience among front 7 vs. option means I think we're gonna have a few hiccups.

I'm more nervous about this game than I was FSU. If we lose this it's a humiliating blemish that never washes off. With these games the only acceptable thing to do is win big and since week 2 we haven't been able to do that.

Hasn't stopped ND before, won't stop them now. I doubt they'll be in it to "impress the voters", but you have to remember this is a rile up and pissed off team, coming off getting cheated out of a win at the last second by a, hopefully reprimanded, official.

Those are the reasons I think that ND does better this time than under Diaco. Inexperienced, but faster and more athletic front 7, which bodes a lot better for the option than 7 really big but slow guys we had last year. Not to mention (knock on wood), we are much healthier this time around then we were last season against the Middies. That combined with the offensive line and running game's improvement 2 weeks ago, has me believe this one will be a total blowout, somewhere in the 40 point victory range for ND.

Since 1927 the average score is:
ND 27.8
Navy 11.7

Point taken. Always seems like Navy just crushes the time of possession.

I agree Lax. I was enjoying my daughters Volleyball game the day OSU played them. I've been curious how Navy kept it close throughout most of that game before OSU finally pulled away. We should have more talent at virtually every position and should win virtually every one-on-one match-up.
