Is that what you REALLY think?

This post smells trollish.

I don't understand what's hard to understand about my curiosity. Perhaps there's no answer. If you don't like me question, then don't respond. I'm not trying to get in an argument with you or anyone else. If I misunderstood his tweet, then forget everything I wrote.

No, just trying to understand what the first three seasons and 2 full recruiting classes prior to 2013 meant to the coaching staff.

You saw the word "continue" in that tweet, right?

As in, "continue to build"

As in, continuing to build a team,

As in, it's a process

As in, get it yet?

I understand (he signed 8 of the 23, with one member [Nix] verballing with no head coach).

So I will revise my prior question, why does Denbrock feel as though they are just now, starting with 2013, beginning to build the house? Why do they get 5-1/2 years and 5 full recruiting classes? what was 2011, and 2012?

I think he's just speaking to the '14 and '15 recruits. After the statement you're trying to figure out he says, "Can't wait! Why are you?", which clearly indicates it's a tweet directed at the athletes they are targeting, not the fan base. I wouldn't read into it too much.

Have I been condescending to you?

Yes, I read it and understood it.

I don't think you understood my question or curiosity. My focus was on why 2015 was somehow the date of completion. So let's please drop it.

If his audience was the upcoming recruits and it was meant to be raw-raw, get'em going, jump on the bus, ok, I can see that.

Very true, and I apologize

It seems to me that he's using his tweet to fire up the team/potential recruits for the very near future.

I wouldn't take it as a complete assessment of the staff's entire tenure

Does that seem plausible? More sensible?

Yes, someone else posted something similar above.

I didn't really believe they [the coaching staff] were somehow whitewashing their first three years/recruiting classes. It may have been one of those things that stated towards the recruits it makes sense, but when you just read it out it makes you scratch your head (or in my case my butt.)

It's like if you were with a friend and his girlfriend accuses him of checking out some girl. You notice the other girl was a little ... curvacious and so you say, "ya, he must have this thing for fat girls..." It sounded funny in my head. Woops. Unintended consequences.

if that 2015 comment was from Denbrock, I wonder why they feel it will take 6 years and 6 recruiting classes before they have built a "complete house."

But you got it now?

TJ on Blankenship:

This is a very big and important commitment here. A big upside future DE perfect for the 3-4 base front and also fits our multiple fronts as well. Capable of helping out initially at "Cat" OLB where he has the length, leverage, aggressiveness and movement skills, plus natural athleticism off the edge at this stage, to provide depth at least and compete/challenge for some playing time as a pass rusher when needed. Make no mistake, though -- this is a future DE with big upside for what we want.

It's also timely, both in terms of our recruiting (and I don't suggest that in a negative sense, as some might interpret) and in terms of his recruiting with Oklahoma. Sooners (and some other big ones) made a very big recent push with Grant, and with good reason.

Next!

Welcome to the Irish Grant. I was watching his film and noticed the crysal ball prediction was 100% Oklahoma.

Big get. We need to turn the corner on DL recruiting. I think we are going to sign at least two more.

As far as ideal rosters... 4 deep is a good rule of thumb, but I think you can snag a few spots from Safety, WR, and LB and use them for the lines.

Also I agree that we should count our DL half way between a 3-4 and a 4-3 so aim for 14. Similarly, we should probably aim at using 1 of the 3 WR spots for either a hybrid RB or TE each year.

I really like his tape. He doesn't look 6'5"-6'6" as listed. He's a few years from meaningful snaps IMO, but he's a very lean athlete right now and can probably add really good weight. Great motor, and guys like that are the worst to play against.

Nice pick up by ND, and I like the continued effort recruiting the DFW area and Texas. Tons of talent there. Irish have a couple others on their wish list from the Metroplex.

Only water. Maybe I should cut back. Or have it tested.

Your post I'm sick of reading. Adds minimal to no value to the conversation, just confrontational...devils advocate as someone else put it. My two cents.

Anyways...

Welcome to the Irish family Blankenship. Can't wait to watch you on Saturdays.

Thank you for this post. Your "welcome" to Blankenship is a great, great addition to this thread. An incredible value. Up to now, I imagine the Blankenship family were concerned their son wasn't welcome at ND or IrishEnvy. Thanks for your two bits.

You're welcome, and you are welcome. Not a problem.

Now please stop filling this thread up with garbage, please again if that helps.

Again, you are welcome. You're the one making a jackass of you're self...post after post. And I'm done with you. Last time I will ask/say, leaving the board free of your garbage would be nice. Especially for Mr. Blankenship's thread.

What the hell is going on here? Take a chill, dude. This is a thread of a kid who just committed and you jumped all over someone hours after the convo was settled peacefully. Relax, fella

You're right. My bad and apologies. Just would be nice to read through a thread of one of our new committs without the nonsense...trying to "politely" ask him to stop.

He got under my skin a bit, and I just fueled the fire.

So, it's been 24 hours since reports of the commitment and nothing yet from Grant. This is very unusual. He either really enjoys his privacy (my guess/hope) or something is up...

assistant DC Kerry Cooks tweeted that it was official. Obviously he didn't blatantly say commitment or Blankenships name, but he did have this to say:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>And the boat keeps filling up....stay tuned</p>— Kerry Cooks (@CoachKerryCooks) <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachKerryCooks/statuses/353279653777117184">July 5, 2013</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

So his commitment was confirmed to Cooks, then of course, to BK.

I understand this. It's also been reported his coach and a family member confirmed. Does not change the fact Grant's silence in the 24 hours since he committed is unusual. Normally reporters are able to get ahold of recruits for quotes and recruits are eager to talk about why they've made the biggest decision of their life. I'm not knocking the kid. It's just unusual.

Nothing is up other than the fact it's a holiday weekend.
