My god. Seriously? Do they really think that the Head Coach of Notre Dame has advisers that read online message boards?!??!?!

They have completely lost it.

Actually, that wouldn't surprise met at all. I watched the Kentucky special last night about the build up to Midnight Madness. In it, they showed one coach scolling thru Twitter to read messages about the team, players, recruits, etc.

I have also heard coaches on Sirius radio admit that they have assistants (whether those are coaches or student interns) look over popular boards.

I am sure BK and staff could give two craps about what is written on the board and that it impacts their thought process. However, I would not be surprised at all if someone within the Athletic Department is reading at least weekly.

I've been over there a bit lately, and it's just funny reading the, "Sure I'm happy we're winning, but I was totally justified over the last two years when I said...." posts.

For 2 years some of those idiots have been blatently attacking (yes, I use the word attacking, as I think it fits) the head coach at Notre Dame. When people point out the success they've had this year, and their previous posts (yes, when you post something on the internet, it's almost always there forever), they get all butt-hurt.

What would we have done without them....

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Wow... inflated sense of importance much? Those guys are ridiculous....*

*with that being said recruits often read message boards... so do players... and so do team assistants sometimes... it's not uncommon for a team to assign a gopher to look for information leaks, etc... they sure as hell don't look for coaching tips though LOL

This 100%. Props to you LAX for knowing this. In Meat Market (recruiting book by Bruce Feldman that followed Ed O and Ole Miss around for an entire recruiting season-it's a must read), they detail how Ole Miss has someone who scours Ole Miss and rival/opponents message boards trying to find tidbits every morning. They then compile all of the most pertinent info for the coaches.

Think of the amount of info that is present here before it is in the media. Definitely smart for programs to do this.

I'm happy to see the perpetually negative ACross is able to poke some fun at himself.

I am as disappointed in this recruiting class as I was following the OU victory and the USC victory. I hate it when ND does well.

Vanderdoes really was critical for several reasons - quality of recruit, karma of a decommit from USC, getting a top recruit from CA and maintaining a presence out there, momentum of finishing the season with a cherry on top rather than disappointment of late decommits.

And not losing Folston gave us a similar mojo boost.

Finally, just as Kelly deserved credit for not letting things fall apart after the Tulsa/Navy losses, he deserves credit for holding everything together after the Alabama debacle, the Eagles flirtation, and the T'eo nonsense.

He posts just enough thinly-veiled "positive" things to keep his board from revolting when times are good. That way, he isn't too bought in on the "good stuff" when bad things happen again, and he can go back to being a twatwaffle.

Seriously, fvck him.

Hehe.

I go over there every so often because I also like to see opinions and news outside of IE. But I do get a migraine trying to navigate that Luddite site. Seriously, buy some software made after the TRS-80.

Seriously. Across is not self-deprecating. He is just trying to restore his image becaus he loves message board attention like no other. That guy is either the most self-obsessed human beings I've ever encountered, or the ultimate troll.

Three things:

1) Fans need to root for their team. You don't have to sugar coat things, but you do have to take the bad with the good. Otherwise, you aren't a fan. Across is not a fan. He should just buy an Alabama jacket and get it over with.

2) He talks about himself like he is the Dos Equis guy. News flash, Across: if you are a known quantity on a internet message board...

3) He talks like he knows business. Has anyone called him out on the fact that he monumentally misjudged Kelly not only initially but throughout this rebuilding process. Across and Co. talk about things like accountability, improvement, tangible results, etc. But he would have fired the first coach to get ND to 12-0 at multiple points, even though Kelly was inheriting what was universally recognized as a deeply flawed roster. He treated every loss, bad call, and set-back like proof of his assumptions, as if it was just a given that Stoops or Meyer could have righted the ship any faster (by ND's rules). Kelly also beat their guy Stoops head-to-head with a first year QB and a depleted backfield. Across and Co. don't know what they are talking about. Not only their conclusion but--more importantly-- their analysis/process was totally flawed. It is time for them to SHUT THEIR FACES for the forseeable future. They know nothing more than any of us.

Could not agree more with this. I do not understand how you could call yourself a fan and behave as ACross does. I say all the time, what is the point of fanhood if you don't want to be optimistic and get excited about your team? If all you do is bitch about the team you claim to love? If I treated my wife like that she'd throw me out so fast ... Now there's nothing wrong with a little armchair quarterbacking, a little frustration or criticism, but I just cannot comprehend what ACross gets out of his ND fanhood. I mean that constant bitching about everything ND related wouldn't even be fun for me. I don't need that aggravation in my life.

Well said. I think ACross has already gotten too mush ink in this thread. We all know fans like this. If they won the Lottery they would bitch that they had to pay taxes.

And with that in mind....

How about that superstorm Nemo? Should be a heck of a few days.
