Do you remember the glory days of the ESPN board in the early 00's with Stevie, aka LSUoverUSC, El Texan, TechIceman, and all those other maniacs?

That board was the Wild West. When it got axed, they all went to Sports Hooplah and still continue their lunacy to this day last I checked.

I do believe I remember LSU and El Texan yes... I was there for a couple years... I remember there was a code that you could input that would jack up the entire page and opposing fans kept hitting their rival page with it... lol... what I remember most tho was being an open ND fan was crazy. I remember some of the regs from other bases that weren't hostile because there seemed to be so few of them. There was a Va Tech fan on there who was very nice and easy going...

One of the highlights had to be an OSU fan started a thread before the Texas game titled "How do you want your Bevo burger?" And then commented "I'll take mine with Troy Smith and Gonzo sauce." He NEVER lived that down and finally left lol.

I found IE because one of the other ND fans let me know he was leaving to come here because he was fed up with the constant bullshit from other bases... forget with user that was tho.

This is one of my favorite college football days of the year. The press conference kicks off Fall camp, everyone gets excited, and the Irish kook-aid will be FLOWING.

Last year, the 5 player suspension shit show didn't happen until after Culver.

Not going to embed because there are like 7 tweets, but check out Alize Mack's twitter if you get a chance. How can you not love that guy.

I really, really hope he stays healthy and has a big year that gets him to the NFL. If 50% of people in this world had his attitude, the world would be 1000% better.

*I don't bump player's threads without there being legitimate news*

With all the focus on the defense I've not read a lot about Long. Are we expecting much more tempo this year? It looked like the offense was moving faster than normal in the BG game.

More tempo and a greater emphasis on 2 tight end sets and the running game.

So what should we look for? I'd watch for Alize Mack mismatches in the slot. Also, look for guys like Smythe and Wright to be used in the run game.

Is there much chance we get two RBs on the field at once?

I believe he ran some split back shotgun sets at Memphis. Could be wrong.

I grew up in Memphis watching the Tigers. My Grandfather was a big fan - he loved Jack Eaton. Anyway, I still follow them and really enjoyed their last few years of success. Here is an article out of the local paper on Long's offense. Don't know if it will translate to the Irish but, it is somewhat of an inside look at what the Irish may run. They have the personnel for what is described in the article for sure.

It's somewhat dumbfounding we haven't had a Sports psychologist and Director of Scouting yet. It's good to see we are slowly making the additional hires. Hopefully this trend continues.

Interesting read. A few highlights:

Memphis will not huddle, Long said. The quarterback will take snaps both under center and out of the shotgun, and have the freedom to audible out of a bad play at the line of scrimmage or shift his protection to pick up a blitz. The Tigers will also use two- and three-back sets in which backs can shift out wide to exploit mismatches.

Because Long and Norvell want to push the pace, versatility is key. Offensive substitutions also give the defense a chance to substitute (and catch its breath), so players who can fill multiple roles in multiple formations are valuable.

"I want to be able to get in different formations, different structures within that same personnel," Long said. "We want to present as many possible looks.”
