Outside of Yoon, Elijah Taylor, and Daniel Cage, I've not heard of anything major. IDK why they'd be brushed under the rug if there were, but who knows.

I have no inside knowledge but I can absolutely confirm this, because we're Norte Dame and we're getting close to kickoff.

You mean that guys were injured and weren't treated until now? Or that a couple guys have been injured since we last heard?

That I'm not sure of, I was just told that the amount of injured players is high compared to previous years at this time. The comment that concerned me most was "November levels of injuries in July".

Keep in mind, while I trust the person that told me, he was paraphrasing a conversation he had with someone that is absolutely in the know. So this is now third hand info. Take that for what it's worth.

Just read Lax's rosy post from May in the other thread where he details why this team will win big this year... it's a done deal he said, provided they avoid a rash of injuries...

I come next to this thread and peak around... rumors of a rash of injuries...

All day, I honestly expect it at this point. Just generally speaking, diagnose one or two things that could derail the football program any given year, go to Vegas and bet big on that happening... it's the new get rich quick scheme.

Academic issues with a key starter in T-minus......

I'd like to know, obviously, who these injuries are to.

If Coach can roll out the OLine with a really good Wimbush/Book behind them, then the TE depth and RB depth will take care of the rest of the business on offense.

On Defense, we seem to have a bunch of choices in the Dbackfield, but would need no major interference with the front seven --- particularly the three linebackers (Martini Morgan Tranquill). REALLY don't want to hear DHayes with anything but top health either.

So, NO MORE INJURY CRAP!!!! STOP IT!!! It's about time we got a few breaks that we don't have to make entirely on our own.

You just showed me how incredibly easy it can be to completely dismiss something solely on the grounds that I don't want it to be true.

How Opponents View ND as Rival

How Opponents View ND as Rival

Clicking on Reverse Rival Points in the Original Links lists the Opponents on how THEY see ND as a Rival as shown below.

BC fans only list 2 Rivals ND and VT. They're Schadenfreude for VT is several time higher than it is for ND. Love thy biggest Rival more?
PU only lists 2 Rivals ND and IU but lists IU as the bigger rival.
Most of the older conferences foes tend to list more rivals.

Schools at the bottom of the lists with missing data have NOT had sufficient people take the survey yet.

Yeah color me skeptical.

Unless these are minor tweaks, aches and pains, I really don't see how we can have a huge rash of injuries when there's been zero tackling or full gear work in three months. I've also heard nothing behind the pay walls, so I don't see that.

Sore as sh*t perhaps, having to crawl on their stomachs to get back to their dorms after a day at the Ballbuster Academy, but something is clearly wrong on many levels if guys are getting seriously hurt during conditioning.

I'm ok with our LB depth, it's the line that scares me. Especially interior. Tillery and Bonner are servicable to start, along with whatever Cage has left in the tank. But after that we need guys to either step up or grow up fast.

Fwiw, I was told today by someone I believe to be very well in the know, that there are a great deals of injuries on the team right now being treated. Has anyone heard this or have any knowledge on it?

Had a chance to talk with someone today that is at the workouts every day and all that was mentioned was 4 players were held out of running yesterday and on bikes due to minor injuries but were not major players and had no knowledge of any major injuries outside of what has already been discussed. Hope that helps.

It does. Thank you. It would absolutely boggle my mind how we have an outbreak of injuries when no actually footballing is being conducted.

Press release from July 13 (did not know how to imbed)

The University of Notre Dame will publicly unveil the largest construction project in its 175-year history with a pair of events during Kicks & Flicks Week August 20 through 25. From a football scrimmage and tours of new facilities to a movie on the video board, fans of all ages are invited to experience the enhanced amenities in and around Notre Dame Stadium during these events.
On Sunday (Aug. 20), the New & Gold Game will feature a simulation of a game day experience including a Fighting Irish scrimmage, performance by the Notre Dame Marching Band and participation from the Notre Dame cheerleaders. Self-guided tours of portions of Duncan Student Center (the building located on the west side of the stadium), Corbett Family Hall (the east building), and O'Neill Hall (the south building) will also be available for fans to see some of the University’s newest spaces.
Tours will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests wishing to tour Duncan Student Center should line up at Door 14 on the south side exterior of the building. Guests who are already in the stadium can also participate in the Duncan Student Center tours by lining up on the first floor of concourse near sections 28-31. Elevators will take guests to the Dahnke Ballroom on the seventh floor and the Rasmus Family Club on the eighth floor where they can view the premium seats and views of campus.
Tours of Corbett Family Hall will begin on the south side exterior of the building at Door 4. There will be no stadium concourse access for tours of Corbett Family Hall. Elevators will take guests to the Downes Club on the seventh floor and Level 8.
Tours of O'Neill Hall will begin on the upper concourse (fourth floor) on the south side of the stadium underneath the video board. Guests will be able to view South Club.
Attendees at the New & Gold Game will also have the opportunity to experience the latest Notre Dame Stadium enhancements including new and wider seating throughout the bowl; the addition of a Diamond Vision high-definition video board and sideline ribbon video boards; upgraded concession stands and restroom facilities; a 1930s art deco look added to the main concourse; the addition of nearly 150 television monitors throughout the concourse; new historical displays at Gate C honoring Irish football standouts; and improved cellular and Wi-Fi coverage.
Food will be available for purchase at some stadium concession stands. Gates will open at 2 p.m., and the scrimmage will begin at 3:30 p.m. Seating in the stadium bowl will be general admission. Tailgating is prohibited prior to and during the New & Gold Game.
On Friday (Aug. 25), Notre Dame will welcome students back to campus and open the stadium again to visitors for Flick on the Field, an open house event featuring a showing of “Rudy” on the new video board.
Prior to the movie, fans will be entertained by music and can make purchases at some of the stadium concessions stands. Students from Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s College and Holy Cross College will be allowed to sit on the football field to watch the movie. Students are permitted to bring blankets on the field, but food and drinks on the field are prohibited. Other attendees may sit in the stadium bowl and seating will be general admission.
Gates will open at 6 p.m. Guests should use Gates B and E for general admission seating, and students must enter the stadium via the tunnel entrance (across from Hesburgh Library) for access to the field. The movie will begin at 7:30 p.m. Both events are free, open to the public and will be held rain or shine. The University’s stadium bag policy and other game day policies will be in place for these events. For more information, visit gameday.nd.edu.

Bill Rees, Director of Player Personnel, Wake Forest Bio

Bill Rees Bio - Wake Forest Football - WakeForestSports.com

https://succeedinfootball.com/2017/06/23/a-look-at-college-scouting-positions/
June 23, 2017

This week, ITL’s Danny Shimon compiled a list of the Directors of Player Personnel or Directors of Football Operations at all FBS schools. We’ve never compiled such a list before. We did this because, most often, these are the coaches that are working with scouts when they come through, and usually the point men for coordinating pro days. In other words, these are valuable positions for young men aiming to build a network of NFL contacts that they can parlay into a job in the league.

We did this as a service to the scouts and agents who are ITL clients, of course, but also to take a look at the people who fill these positions. How do they get there? Where did they come from? What are their credentials?

Here are a few observations.

We counted only eight former NFL scouts holding these jobs. They are Bobby Merritt (Houston), James Kirkland (Illinois), Marcus Hendrickson (Minnesota), Matt Lindsey (South Carolina), Dave Boller (Louisville), Bob Welton (Tennessee), Dennis Polian (Texas A&M) and Bill Rees (Wake Forest). Paul Skansi also held a voluntary personnel role with the University of Washington this season, but he was recently hired by the Redskins.
This number is relatively, low which is surprising because as teams build out their staffs with more personnel and recruiting specialists, there’s a perception that dozens of NFL professionals have filled those roles as they wait to get back into the league. Not so.
Though we don’t have hard numbers, these jobs are held mostly by people under 40. There are no ex-head coaches holding these positions and no ex-NFL executives. It’s mostly area scouts in these roles.
Most of these positions require plenty of non-personnel duties like helping with administration, recruiting, and even fundraising. So former scouts looking to grab these jobs need to know it’s not as simple as serving as a team’s advance scout and watching film on next Saturday’s opponent, or catching up with old friends as they cycle through the team offices.
Unlike a lot of positions in college and pro football, these seem to be legitimate jobs that require total effort. One thing you don’t see much of in this list is last names that are common with the head coach or some other prominent football name. People in these positions have to have game. They gotta be locked in and hard-working.
Reading the bios, many have traveled with the head coach to multiple stops, indicating that they’ve proven themselves. Again, these aren’t blow-off jobs. They may not have the glamor of other positions, but people who don’t perform aren’t kept around.
These positions do seem to be populated by those who worked their way up. In other words, they worked in the football office as an undergrad, then took some low-paying job/volunteer position before landing in personnel.
We get dozens of questions about how to land NFL jobs. Well, before you land that NFL scouting assistant position, you might have to land a college job. Hopefully, you can find something in the above points that gives you a little guidance.

IF Bill Rees does go to the Irish, it will be one hell of a pick up. My Uncle went to UCLA and Rees was the recruiter there when he went. When Tommy signed with ND, my Uncle always said, "If your Irish could get his daddy, recruiting would move to a new level." Mark (uncle) said Rees was a recruiting god at UCLA.

I agree, this would be a great hire. He also worked with Elko and Lea at Wake so there is a comfort level and built in expectations on what they want/are looking for. I'd bet this really helps the second half of this cycle looking for Elko's guys on defense.
