I suspect they won't allow you to take a thermos into the stadium, is that correct?

Having just spent my first fall in MI, I gotta agree with Wizards (a bit). Hills add a lot to the foliage scene, and Michigan generally only has hills in places with excessive evergreens. These are nice in winter but break up the fireworks a tad.

My main complaint about new England autumn is that it's built up too much. It's wonderful, truly, but I'd argue Appalachia gives it a run, especially when you consider the overcrowding that tends to occur around resorts and lodges near prime fall weekends. Not that it detracts from the colors, but it does take away from the experience somewhat.

Northeast Ohio south of Cleveland is also really nice, with the national park being there.

Good point. My wife and I went to the ND / UT game in Knoxville back in 2001. Then spent a couple of days in the Smokies. It was as pretty as any place in the fall.

Are the Smokies considered Appalachia?

I love the Smokies but I've only ever been in spring.

I love the Smokies but I've only ever been in spring.

The range is mostly located in the United States but extends into southeastern Canada, forming a zone from 100 to 300 mi (160 to 480 km) wide, running from the island of Newfoundland 1,500 mi (2,400 km) southwestward to Central Alabama in the United States.

BTW.....I believe there is a Notre Dame mountain in the Appalachia's.

That video wasn't shot in slo mo that's as fast as the people could move and the camera could work.

Reminds me of Jack London's To Build A Fire, "It was so cold that when you spit, it cracked before it hit the ground."

It was like 40 just the other day. Under 5 today.

First day of class. Of course it's fucking freezing.

It looks like everyone but Florida is hating life. We need a good freeze down here to kill off all the damn mosquitoes. You can't even go outside after dark. So look on the bright side all you northerners. At least you're not under attack.

It's been pretty nice here... yesterday was like 55 (unseasonably warm) and then into the 20s and 30s on the 10-day (normal).

I anxiously await the first big snowstorm in the greater Cincinnati area.

I love that sh*t.

Especially since I work for a college, and a snow day is PTO that doesn't come out of my vacation haha.

Ugh, time to move to south Florida. Hate the cold, would be gone if it weren't for family. My mom would miss her grand babies too much.

SW Florida is great right now. 80 and no clouds.

Tons of midwest people over here. Big ten country / Irish country basically

Went for a bug-free hike yesterday in the falling snow. Just gorgeous. Wouldn't trade winter for all the mosquitoes in Florida!

my step dad went out and bought some new uber badass snow blower for the winter.

He said he would die this winter if he had to shovel as much snow as he did last. I laughed and said well you know its not gonna snow this winter now.

I know I'm just a dumb redneck from the south but how exactly does one blow snow? I'm picturing a leaf blower, and that seems like it would take forever. I'd rather use a shovel.

Edit: I just looked up snow blowers, they look like damn lawn mowers. I guess you just push it around to clear a path. LOL

yeah they a similar to lawn mowers. blades move the snow out a chute which can be aimed to your choosing.

Depending on the amount and density of the snow, a blower is def. WAY better than shoveling.

For the price, wouldn't it be cheaper to just pay the guy down the road with the super duty $20 to plow you out during the bad storms?

If you are lucky enough to have a guy with the super duty that isnt a dick as a neighbor absolutely.

My step dad finally gave in. He was dead set against getting one for the longest bust this last winter really put a hurting on him with all the shoveling. He looked at it as a investment for the remainder of his life. His one and only snow blower.

There are a bunch of guys who get blades for their big a$$ trucks, but there really is an art to plowing with a vehicle. I have seen guys with plows....get stuck! Plus, he may not get to you when you want to be gotten to. Not only that if you live in a snow belt, by the time you get thru winter, you may have paid off that blower or be able to do it in two winters for the cost of paying a guy to do it.

FYI...$20 bucks a shot is a pipe dream to get someone who knows what they are doing

I'll take my tiny driveway as a blessing, then. Piece of crap $8 shovel from the grocery store and I'll be okay.
