To be fair, they're in a lose-lose situation.

If they don't take him off the call, and the meme of "Robert Lee Calling a UVA Game" blows up, they get criticized for not being proactive, and get crushed for repeating their *mistake* like with the "Auction Draft" segment. The auction draft shouldn't have been an issue, but it was, and they caught heat... so the argument would be that they should've learned from it, and nipped this issue in the bud.

On the flip-side, now that they HAVE taken him off the call, the OTHER side of the spectrum is up in arms, talking about how ridiculous it is, triggered snowflakes, 'wouldn't have made the connection if there weren't attention drawn to it,' blah blah blah.

Either way, ESPN was gonna catch a lot of heat. It was a lose-lose (but they kind of deserve it).

There are over 11,000 people named Robert Lee in the USA should they change their names so their careers won't be damaged by spineless companies pandering to anarchists?

Discrimination by hononymphobics is not acceptable. The world didn't end because we had an Attorney General named Lynch, a word which has a heinous alternate meaning and is apparently a trigger to millions?

His career wasn't damaged. He wasn't "removed" from Week 1 coverage, he was reassigned to a different game. Major difference.

But yeah, still stupid.

From what I read, it looked like he was just hammered, stumbled into someone's cabin and passed out... Not sure what the layout if like but could be an honest mistake if u r renting a cabin and multiple cabins look the same... He pretty much got arrested for trespassing which really isn't that "big" of a deal. community service

I don't necessarily disagree. To me it's more comical then anything, but you're talking about someone who is one of the faces of ESPN, a public figure. Will they take the far left approach (honest mistake, everyone makes mistakes, deserves a second chance, etc.) or the far right (we can't have our name sullied and need to protect our image)?

My guess is they will let this quietly go through the judicial system, then release him without an announcement..

Off topic from Russilo, but I'm about to boil over w/ this #I'mWithKaep garbage.

Reasons why CK doesn't have a job:

-He's just not good. WaPo published an article claiming he's statistically better than 15 other backups currently in the League. I say, "So..." That means he's worse than the other 17 BACKUPS.

-Another article from BR (I think) claimed that 50 talent evaluators said CK is better than 6 current NFL starters. News flash, Osweiler and Kessler are not starters and the others are basically on their last chances. Not to mention...

-Teams have to re-shape their offense for CK because he's not a good pro style QB.

-He's a giant distraction from the Team First mentality that every organization tries to uphold along with causing potential riffs/division in the locker room.

-Off the field, it's a circus and just more distraction than it's worth.

NOT a Reason CK is unemployed in the NFL:

-Racism.

Where the hell was the outrage from the far Left when Tim Tebow got cut and couldn't find a job in the NFL because *see reasons above*? Was it bigoted/prejudice/racist then? Of course not.

Seriously, I can't handle this stuff anymore. It's all so hypocritical, divisive, and ignorant. Enough already.

Lastly, no, the NFL and Fantasy Football don't promote slave labor, etc. Stop with that bullshit too.

/rant.

He doesn't have a job, because teams don't want to deal with the side circus that comes along with him. Teams just want to play football.

i think the other thing that gets weight in all of this is the only teams that could really use him are bad teams right? Why would they want to bring him on for maybe 1/2 more wins on the year and instead of getting a top 3 pick end up with a top 10. Congrats you suck and sucking.

Dang, really like Russillo. He's my favorite radio personality by far (with the exception of Dari and Now, who are close).

I'm sure we can make an educated guess of what happens, sounds like he was wasted, went into the wrong cabin and passed out like a clown. But who knows - maybe it's worse than that, but that'd be my guess.

He doesn't have a job in the NFL and whether he is a better QB than those that do have jobs is not relevant to owners. Owners own their company and their brand. And they own the right to make decisions on how best to protect that brand. Does their decisions always make sense? No. But they make their decisions anyway. CK has every right to protest what he feels he needs to. But owners have the right to employ who they want as well. And it appears the owners feel the risk isn't worth the reward.

CK doesn't have a job because he's asking for too much money.

For a guy that will be a backup, or an underwhelming starter, and who will also undoubtedly cause at least a small bit of controversy among a team's fanbase, he's not worth the money he's asking for.

If he were asking for a reasonable contract with all things considered, he'd be playing right now.

I'll always have a soft spot for CK. I've seen ND play live seven times and only once have they won. The one victory was a 35-0 shutout of Nevada in 2009. Kap sucked that game, and for that I am thankful.

“This is a lot going on with this whole Kaepernick situation. In this country you can believe what you want," McCoy told The Buffalo News. "Freedom of speech. If guys want to stand, they can stand. I think maybe they can choose a better platform to state their beliefs. One thing I learned about just here in America is that people, they’re followers. There’s some that you may ask about these different topics, but they’ll say what they heard, not what actually know, even with the Kaepernick situation."

Well we've reached the point where an NFL running back tells the American people they need to read more.
