You're just wrong here. Notre Dame storms the field when we beat big teams at home. We always have, and we're the blue bloodiest kid on the block. The "oh it should be normal for you" attitude doesn't apply because we've always done it, whether major success is typical or not.

We stormed the field in 77.
We stormed the field in 88.
We stormed the field in 93.
We stormed the field in 05............... fuckers

The university specifically raised the height of the walls surrounding the field in the stadium renovation because we rushed it too often. So to say that blue bloods don't rush is wrong, because we do.

Was sitting with SC fans and they encouraged us to go storm the field.....now I want to die

At the risk of incurring the wrath of the board, let me as an outsider - and even more importantly, as a fan of a fellow CFB blueblood - add my two cents worth. WTF were your fans storming the field for??? Bama, ND, OSU, Oklahoma, USC... those teams' fans DO NOT storm the field under any circumstances. We expect to beat everyone. Beating #1 teams is common for blueblood programs like ours. Storming the field is for the poors who are shocked to have beaten a top team. You're not Michigan St. or Ole Miss or Cal. Don't storm the field the next time you beat a #1 team.

I don’t believe this, so I looked into it. Apparently thousands of fans stormed the field after the Iron Bowl victory in 1990. Not storming the field is some kind of self righteous identity Bama fans now cling to to portray their superiority, kind of like their tradition to count every winning season as a National Championship.

Now a days Bama fans are probably too worried to storm the field as they got to beat traffic to drive their homes back to their trailer parks.

We don't always storm the field, but when we do it's usually a big win.

Why storm the field? We're Irish, we like to party.

I thought so, too. Sort of a back-handed compliment. "You're back in the club now, so act like you belong here."

More humor intended than sarcasm, but definitely a compliment intended on the "You're back in the club, so act like you belong here" part. As a fan of ND (you're my 2nd fav), I never thought of you as NOT being in the club.

Storming the field is not just for the poors, but also for temporarily impoverished aristocrats, which is where we've been for the last 27 years or so.

I 100% get this. It hasn't been that long since my program emerged from 25 years of wandering in the wilderness.

Also not really discussed a bunch, but this was likely the last home game for many of the students this year. I can only imagine the emotional toll this has on college kids. I have tried imagining what my college experience would be like with these guidelines and well, it would have been a much less enriching experience. So these kids probably have, for the first time in a long ass time, have something to be emotionally giddy over and be...gasp...college kids. I am happy for them, they got to experience something almost every other college student has over the last 40+ years. It wasn't just about beating Clemson, it was about being in the moment and forgetting about the shit show that is 2020.

Another perfect example of this is Utah 2010.

Man, that Utah 2010 game was lit! Family had season tickets in the gold seats for 20 years. A lot of snow birds packed it in, thinking the team was done for the season and they either sold their tickets or gave them away to younger family members. When we got down to our seats for that game there were a LOT of fresh, young faces and not the normal season ticket holders. They were rowdy, despite being upset by Tulsa the week before as Dayne Crist got injured I think.

When the #15 Utes came into the stadium they looked shell shocked. It was the biggest venue they'd played in all year capacity wise, by a long shot. That stadium was surprisingly loud given the struggles we had that year. Utah never could get their stuff together, we took a lot of frustration out on them. I'll never forget...the row in front of us had these young guys, late 20s or early 30s. One of them had this thick New York accent and kept heckling Shaky Smithson from Utah. Every time our defense stopped the Utes, they'd come over to the bench and this guy would yell, "HEY SHAKY! WHAT'S GOING ON?!" He yelled a lot of other stuff too, like: "WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO, COACH?!" but that was his "go to" chant. We were just 5 rows behind the Utah bench, and before long the entire gold seats had joined in with the heckling in unison, "HEY SHAKY, WHAT'S GOING ON?!" It became our rallying cry, I've never seen the gold seats do that in 20 years. Near the end of the game Shaky finally turned around and shrugged at us with a smile on his face, he was an alright guy. We cheered and clapped for him. Heard that he took custody of his younger brother and took care of him while he was in college, real stand up dude.

Looks like that brother "Fish" actually got picked up as an undrafted Free Safety and spent a few years in the league once he grew up! Pretty cool.

You obviously didn't watch the Bush-Push game. We (older, drunk grad students) were already planning how we would let the younger students rush ahead so we wouldn't get trampled in the melee. Then that fucking 4th-down pass happened. The goalline plays occurred on the side opposite the student-section, and there was no video board back then. When that backwards out-of-bounds fumble happened, the clock ran out. All you saw was students streaming onto the field.

The greatest herd-management process I've ever seen happened next. As the students were storming the field, the PA guy came on and shouted something like: "GET OFF THE FIELD, THERE'S STILL TIME ON THE CLOCK... WE CAN GET PENALIZED!" All you saw was an instantaneous flow of students departing the field and congregating in the back corners. Embrace the suck:

I was there for the Tulsa game. That's the week of Declan's accident. That was an extremely surreal experience.

https://theclemsoninsider.com/2020/11/08/clemson-parents-harassed-in-notre-dame-stadium/

Clemson players and coaches were not the only ones unhappy leaving Notre Dame Stadium Saturday night. The parents of a prominent Clemson player is not happy with how the few Clemson people who were allowed into Notre Dame Stadium were treated Saturday night.

The Clemson Insider was told by some of those who were in attendance for the Tigers’ 47-40 double overtime loss at Notre Dame, that there were issues between the stadium ushers and Clemson parents. Per ACC rules, only 200 Clemson fans were allowed into Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind., which were players’ parents, family members and Clemson staff personnel.

The stadium ushers were annoying and harassing the Clemson parents throughout the first half. Several family members, including the parent of one of the defensive starters, were kicked out of stadium. Things escalated to the point where Clemson parents had to complain to police officers to stop the harassment.

While Clemson parents were being harassed Notre Dame students were not practicing social distancing protocol, which according to sources, the ushers were not paying attention at all to.
Following the win Notre Dame fans stormed the field. The Clemson players and coaches had to wait to enter the tunnel as ushers allowed fans to stream out of the stands onto the field.

were they being told to sit down? :D
