Sooooo IE happy hour on zoom tonight? Or nah?
I can vouch for arndtjc, Some Irish Bloke, Irish #1, scUM Sucks, IrishLion, and NDinLA. They were all stand up dudes at tailgates. Arn will make sure there's plenty of Jameson, and Bloke cooks some mean food. Lion is above taking bribes to have posters banned, but maybe I didn't offer enough. I think I met NDRock for like 3 minutes before one game, can't remember. Irish2155 was supposed to hook up with us at Louisville last year, but he was too hammered to find usThe drunk texts during the game were a riot though.
I'm broke af my dude. I'm a teacher and coach. I have been thinking of going to more games and just tailgating though.
It was only for 24 hours.SIAP, but is Lax’s ban a timeout or permanent? Should just be able to ban users from specific forums/threads. In terms of football/recruiting he’s one of the best here.

POST LIKE A CHAMPION NOT LIKE A CHUMP.
Yeah but he would've gotten banned after last year's game in Ann Arbor anywaysWho did?
Full disclosure: I kinda Koon'd him with a faux outrage campaign about white WR stereotype (regarding Jay Brunelle I think???) He was getting on even my nerves and was just showing up to gloat instead of doing what the Bama guys do: just move in and sleep in our digital guest room w/o reminding us daily how utterly fantastic they are.
I mean, I get up at 4am everyday and check Bishop's RIP postings to make sure I'm not on it.
Can’t believe it was Beau who pulled the trigger after all these years.
He wouldn’t have been in the field when Koon won his first “most likely to get banned” award. Before then we lost Bogs, Wooly, Buster, Pat, and Cack. STL, Chiirish, GB, Johnnykillz, Ironman, LA are basically retired.
Brian Kelly is going to outlast all of us at this rate.
Generally a good day for me as concerns IE... but I miss Bogs and Wooly and Cack and ND-in-LA et al that a lot of the attitudes often given free rein on IE have cost the site. (even Neutered, who I had no issues with myself ... I get that some others did, but not me ... he and I had good conversations even off line in internet space)
There's been plenty of bullying here and loads more of ganging up. I guess that there is no real answer for that as it requires civil collegial respect for one another. Current politics have (it seems to me) driven lots of people anti-socially crazy. Sacred cows are running in stampede.
... and the real (?) enemy: posting while drunk. Sometimes THAT's pretty obvious and sometimes the guy will even admit it later.
I've tried to "give up IE (not only) for Lent" but there are many aspects of the site that are interesting. But I hate the closed-minded high testosterone highschool debate-style non-discussion. (But I realize that many feel that this is the purpose of an internet site. I was once told after someone posted a particularly off base comment "that we make jokes here; that's what IE is all about." When I made a joke comment in another thread that was straight out of the movie Airplane, negs rained and one mod went on a rampage.) These are just examples of the arbitrariness of whose feathers get ruffled.
Thanks to Beau and the saner of the mods who try hard to keep this place a viable location to visit. A hard thankless job it seems to me..........
How’s the view from the ivory tower? Have the surfs graciously accepted that God has predestined their lot in life?
So wait. Lax got banned for sort of doxing Koon? Wasn't Koon always public? He's shared photos of himself and his wife. He talks about where he works, what property he owns in which cities, and I'm pretty sure he's shared his personal Twitter account. What did I miss?
Yes, it certainly can get pricey. I lucked out for about 5 years b/c my ex was from up there and her family had season tickets, but certainly don't go as much as I used to then. I liked when they played PU more because WL is pretty easy for me to get to.
I've also been on a handful of occasions just to tailgate without a ticket. I've found that plenty of tailgates have TVs to watch the game and once it starts things clear out pretty quickly. People are always nice and typically don't mind if you watch the game at their tailgate. Or, of course, a local bar is always an option too...especially if you run out of beer.
......... so is that a no on the IrishPat reprieve?
I believe we looked at that years ago when I was a mod but the BB software doesn't allow it.
Regardless this is an ND board not a Michigan board, people should have the sense to:
First Koon was like, ‘yah’ and Lax was like, ‘nah’... then koon was like, ‘hell yah’ then Lax went like, ‘bitch I said hell to the nah’ then koon was like, ‘oh lord there’s fire, I ain’t got time for all that’. Then LAX called him by his first name.

We're runnin' older BB Code here. I don't know if the current code we're on allows for it, but a separate, hidden forum can be created and people can be granted access or access can be removed. A lot of the other football boards usually have something like this, a "NSFW" area if you will. BuckeyePlanet had one, and they used to have the same owner as IE back in the day (Not sure if that's still true). Surly Horns has one too and is running a much more up to date site/software with easy embedding of media. They were forced to make the switch after their old Shaggy Bevo/Texas site was taken in a court order a few years ago. I'd love to see IE update to that format, it's just super slick and integrates with other apps like Discord I guess.
I’ll close by saying we have to figure out a way to stop the toxic effect politics threads are having on our board. I've personally been really susceptible to this. The vast majority of conflicts are in those threads or because of spillover from those threads. It didn’t use to be anything close to this.
We’ve lost a LOT of good posters due to our decision to lightly moderate and sequester the politics threads (RIP Cack), so that was maybe a mistake.
Yesterday was a wakeup call that putting any effort into engaging with people on this site who choose to post in bad faith is a waste of time, and that our “hands off” approach to moderating in order to avoid conflict/drama was a gross miscalculation.
Of course they have, God predestined his only begotten son to become the first surfer.
