I gave you the threads, the posts, and the reasons. I guess I am not sure what else you want.

I may be wrong, but I think Bogs was appreciative of your post. He wasn't actually asking for more information, but citing that you *did* give more information, when there usually isn't any.

Does IE provide defense attorneys? Is there an IE Miranda that needs to be read to the banned/potentially banned user? Is IE under Sharia law? Robert's Rules of Order? Lord of the Flies?

Yes, exactly. Thank you!

Maybe instead of simply saying 'an extra word would help,' I should have said, there have been times in the past where I think some people inadvertently stepped over the bounds, clear to the mods and some posters, but the offending posters in their zeal, and euphoria at having something really good might have gotten tangled, and confused. (Emotion over intellect, so to speak.) And that this kind of clarification with examples, in the Banned users thread where everyone goes to see what happened right away, anyway, really is apropos. Because it comes while the whole thing is fresh in posters minds.

Maybe if the rules were printed in Gaelic?

I am free to provide(for a nominal fee of course) my excellent seminar on "Modding the Cackalacky Way" at the IE mods annual Destin getaway bash (thanks JPham!).

In this seminar, and based on my extensive knowledge of the IE forum we will of course tackle the pitfalls of modding to include handling bitching and moaning of posters towards volunteers who spend their time trying to have fun as well as do things legally, within the confines of the modern web-based forum.

While your seminar sounds excellent as it concerns to policing an anonymous internet forum to keep it clean and free of any riff-raff or bullsh*t, to set it a cut above most other internet forums that are free to use...

I thought the annual Mod Retreat was moved to that mansion on the Outer Banks this year?

I didn't get that memo. It must have been left out of my severance package.

Does your seminar also give examples on how to mod from a mobile device?

Is there a way to report PMs directly? I feel like I had to go through an approval process before I joined this site. How does username "Dumbasskmoose" get approved?

I just perma-banned him. To answer your question, the process of "approving" new account registrations is often a real slog, as one is trying to sift through hordes of bots to find a few legitimate handles. I haven't had time to do it personally in quite a while, but it's a thankless mind-numbing job; so I could easily see Dumbasskmoose being approved by accident.

It's one guy who keeps creating these new accounts to troll you and kmoose. His original handle was Nick Setta, but I think he later changed it to Kanye West and (maybe?) NoJusticeNoPeace. If I knew how to ban IPs, I'd block his (though that's not very difficult to get around).

The account is not approved. The system allows people to read posts and PM other posters before the account is approved. They cannot post in forums however.

I banned this account as soon as I saw it. He reported several posts. It's a former permabanned poster who still apparently reads this board because he lives on his hatred for the farther right members of the board.

There is the answer ( I did not know this). Kmoose--you have been asking why this happens and this is why.

Yes, the PM aspect of it is so that they can message us (mods) if their account is still waiting approval and we've managed to miss it.

With a username of Dumbasskmoose, I thought he might bring some real insight to this board. You didn't even let him get warmed up!

Thanks for pointing this out, Beau. I was vaguely aware that unapproved accounts are allowed to send PMs, but if I received an exasperated PM from a kmoose or wizards about this, I would have just assumed the account was approved by accident.

AFAIK, none of the mods are vBulletin experts. We didn't receive any special training upon promotion. If there's a problem that can't be solved by warning a user via PM, editing/ deleting a post, or banning an account, I often have to simply forward the concern onto Jason Pham. Hell, I've been working on figuring out how to embed gifv files here for months, to no avail...

I'm pretty sure his original handle was jughedjones, but that's just based on the amount of anger he keeps displaying for me. I know jughed was in Portland, OR. But it wouldn't be that hard to spoof his ip address to something in Columbus. I always thought it was strange. I was sure Nick Setta was jughed, but noted that he had Columbus as his location. It was weird because I lived in Reynoldsburg at the time.

Nick Setta/ Kanye West/ NJNP and Jughead were different guys, and only the former lived in Ohio. I'm pretty sure we're dealing with NJNP here.
