Each team starts with their home territory which is geographically all the counties they are closest to. Then when they beat someone else, they take their territory. And on and on. They reset the map at the beginning of each season.

The historical map goes back to last year when they first started doing this, and eventually at some point in the future for that map all the territory will be unified under one banner and basically become a new "belt."

Thanks, I think it was you who explained this all to me last time, reps again and sorry for my shitty memory.

Well the belt is something very different. The belt is the championship belt originating with a national title back in the 1970s I think. Clemson had it last year who lost it to Syracuse, who lost it to Miami, who lost it to Pitt, who lost it to Penn State, who gave it to the Buckeyes, who surrendered it to Purdue.

Looking ahead, Purdue will of course almost certainly lose a hangover game to Michigan State on Saturday, as one does. Then Sparty plays Ohio State in a couple weeks. So, odds are, both The Belt and The The will will be back in Columbus by mid-November.

Yeah, and we lead the 2018 map in counties and population as of Week 8 -- https://www.sbnation.com/college-fo.../college-football-imperialism-map-week-8-2018

The historical map with Purdue is hilarious --

My favorite is the endowment gambling contest -- https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/9as3ea/what_if_universities_gambled_endowment_on/ Beating Michigan and Stanford = $$$

Possibly, but no one is going to forget this one for a long time.

I'm confused. How does one take Alaska?

Every school started with the territory (counties) closest to their campus. Washington started with Alaska, since Washington is the closest DI football program to all of Alaska.

Report on the radio is there is a big rift between Meyer and AD with discussions of a "Coach in waiting" currently on Meyer's staff. Could Smith be pissed because Meyer lied to him or wasn't completely forthcoming which resulted in Smith getting underserved punishment?

Things are definitely uneasy right now in Columbus. I don't think Meyer is done, but some Buckeyes on the interwebz are regretting that he wasn't let go after the Smith scandal. The Purdue debacle is another blow to a strange season.

What Urban Meyer is saying is ... it depends on what your definition of "is" is.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Urban Meyer on whether there is tension between members of the coaching staff: "Well, I mean there's things need to be fixed. I wouldn't call it tension, I'd call it day-to-day ... There's no tension, it's urgency, I'd call it."</p>— Dan Hope (@Dan_Hope) <a href="https://twitter.com/Dan_Hope/status/1054791729583403009?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">October 23, 2018</a></blockquote>

I'm wondering if Meyer painted a rosier picture to the AD and the Smith backed him. Then the investigation ends and Smith learns Meyer wasn't up front with him and both get suspended.

I think its funny that Brian Kelly is on this list. Brian Kelly would be absolutely despised by everyone around these parts if he took that job.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Who will be Ohio State’s head coach in spring of 2019? Matt Campbell at Iowa State nearly even with Urban Meyer per <a href="https://twitter.com/betonline_ag?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@betonline_ag</a>. What happens if something crazy happens and ND wins the Natti this year. BK decides he has had enough of the pressure of coaching here and takes this gig. Then how would he be perceived?

If that were to happen, who cares how he's perceived. We are ND, not BK.

Then there would be a BK statue outside the stadium the next day. I don't think this year is the year, but crazier things have happened.

It would be one of the bigger upset natty wins in a long, long time... OU 2000, tOSU 2002, BYU 84, PSU 86... It would be among them at least. It can happen but it would be memorable for it's unlikelihood. If I had to bet, ND doesn't even make the playoff, this is a good team but there are still more than enough landmines left to assume we drop at least one game.

We have similar thoughts. I think the chances of Notre Dame making the playoffs are good, but by no means am I searching for hotel rooms at where the playoff games are being played. Notre Dame has a lot of work to do and, like you already said, there are a few games that Notre Dame could stub their toe.

Can't believe there's not a Stoops on that list. Mark has UK tied for first in the SEC-E and nobody cares about UK football except his staff. If he can win that division, it would be a big resume stuffer especially when UGA and FL are both good again. His staff and roster are loaded with Ohio guys too.

And then there's Bob.
