Need some more WR offers quick if MC Hammer is off the board and Martin AND Armstrong aren't locked in.

First of all:

Emeka Emeze.

Next:

Elston and BK are in NJ today. They should stop by 4 star WR Bo Melton and sign him up. He's a Rutgers commit with BC, Duke, UVa, OSU and Michigan offers. Perfect prospect by offer set. Can run the 100 in under 11

Eddie Lewis is another NJ WR with the right offers (mid 3 star), with good film but tested poorly at The Opening.

Best football player available in Jersey? Johnathan Lovett. 6-1, 200lb ATH/RB/WR/KR/S... football player. Was a Rutgers commit, 247 now says Mich St leads. Great film. Looks like Adams when at RB. Typical 3 star .8500 who will out perform his R&R's at the next level.

also...

ND's lead recruiter --> Coach Stepp retweeted this. Why's an '18 kid from Indiana retweeting a Cali kid from '17's highlight? Just asking.

You know, I kind of like this preferred walk-on, Cameron Ekanayake. At 6-foot-2, 200-pounds he seems to have the speed and a long frame, to play just about anywhere ND needs him. The kid has hands, at least he can catch at high school level, he has good field vision, understands the game, and is admitted. His other schools of interest include Harvard and MIT, but he always wanted to play ball at ND. His mom works in the Finance Office I believe.

But if you watch this kids tape, he plays almost every skilled position. And at 6'2" (which I understand is legitimate) he may be able to put some weight on and even play linebacker. I am thinking another rover candidate, because he can move all over the field, and seems to have good acceleration.

Anybody know him? And why he didn't make the big time? I understand he goes to a small school, but this kid looks sharp.

DL could need revisted too. Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa and Wardlow look to be only options and not sure what to think about ND's chances with either. We should know about Wardlow this week I would imagine. Fresh off OV and in-home (or was it just at his school).

Jalen Harris is still taking his OV this week and seems incredibly excited.

I think it's school and in-home. Coaches need to show their face at St John's.

Loy with the CB for Wardlow this morning.

forgot Harris after just posting about him. Thanks.

no action on CB's (doesnt always tell the story I know).

Hopefully we can make a big impression.

Looks like we are going to be able to take care of the back end of the defense here late. Just the thought of only adding Ewell and McCollister is scary. I do like Ewell A LOT tho!

Thanks. I wish the Loy CB meant more. I'll wait to see how things unfold after tonight's visits.

If we get Norwood, Owusu, and JGH , plus Robertson, at DB, then I think its a good haul, especially after last years group. Add in Yeast, and I get pretty excited as I think he could be a very dynamic CB at the next level.

Add Hinish to the DL group, which gives us more numbers. We do need to add another DL or 2, before I can be too satisfied. Get 1 of the guys left on the board and I'll be happy; get 2, and I would be pretty excited. Perfect combo, would be 1 of Wardlow/Harris and Amosa.

Food for thought on the 2 DE positions, we have to remember that we brought in 2 WDE's and 2 SDE's last year. So, we do want to continue to bring in depth, but there shouldn't be a need for an immediate player from this group. Provided we start getting our guys ready to go on that side of the ball.

Forgot the EE Hinish.

Any preference on Wardlow/Harris?

Not going to get into Loy praising or bashing, but this late in the year, a Loy CB is a hell of a lot better than a Loy no-CB, and we all know that.

And in general, a recent CB says a lot more than one from ~4 months ago, too.

Does Loy wear boxers or briefs? I figured you'd know.

Harris, I think he has more upside. Though, he's a work in progress, he is very quick off the edge. Quicker off the edge than any player we have on the roster, at similar stages. Would be a nice player to stash behind Okwara and Hayes for a couple/few years. With that said, Wardlow reminds me a lot of a Shembo/Romeo type. In time , he will be very physical and play with a high motor. That alone can be productive in college.

Sampson on II podcast recorded before Norwood committed to Oklahoma, said he felt strongest about Armstrong for a commitment. They all felt ND could land 5.

Wow. That was a little random and unfair. That kid who went to LSU. Yikes...
First off, a 1/3 success rate on late offers is actually a pretty good batting average. Cage has developed into a solid player while Moukwah was always going to be a project.
Of the other four, who knows why they didn't come here but I suspect in at least some cases our interest cooled once we got to know them better.
I agree late offers are risky but when you basically have to stop defensive recruiting for two months b/c you have no DC, what else are you supposed to do?

Also: Of the kids we are offering, many are already committed somewhere, a sign that at least one other P5 program views them as "marriage material." Many have offersfrom high-level academic schools, which is a sign of a good fit for us. And some have other Notre Dame ties, which helps too. We won't land most, which is to be expected. But we seem to be offering in an intelligent fashion, not just at random. I get the risk of the short courtship, but again, not sure what better option there is. It's not like we can just wait till next year on all these positions.

Whether you land the recruit or not it is an opportunity for new coaches to get out and make new relationships with high school coaches. Talk about future classes. Kill 2 birds...

I think any kids they can flip is gravy, I do like the 5 EEs, and the rest of the commits, but I agree all this recruiting by the new coaches is for future classes. I only expect maybe only 1 or 2 kids to flip.

1. Notre Dame – I’ve been critical of Notre Dame recruiting for the last few years because of some of the early takes that I felt were reaches. I’m not sure this class makes the defense much quicker, especially at linebacker, and I’m a bit concerned the Fighting Irish didn’t help themselves enough at quarterback. There are just a few too many holes at certain positions and a few head-scratchers in the class that aren’t Notre Dame level.

Boy, he's got it out for Adams and now apparently White. Harbaugh would have launched one of them if he hired Elko and adopted his system but that's not ND's style plus many think White's a future starter at BUCK anyways. If he looked at White's tape, he didn't see slow. Recognition/reaction is elite. Maybe he should have thought about what ND needed with a 4-2-5 by taking a look at their roster and what they have coming in next year at LB. Elko and Lea DID and went after a hybrid LB/S with cover skills in JOK and a SS with FS skills/exp in JGH.

And who did ND reach on early this cycle? The only possible answer would be Dillan Gibbons... a First team All State Florida OG prospect that his organization classified as an OT and placed him one single point behind his (also misclassified) nationally rated Kai-Leon Herbert. How is taking a 6-5, 310lb 4 star OG a reach? Other than that, he can't be talking about J MacCollister. Take a look at his offer list again and get back to us. Every successful team in the country has multiple J MacCollisters on their roster.

Throwing Davis under the bus might've be understandable if he looked like a bum during AA Game Week... but he didn't... and what does Farrell think they need help for? They have 2-3 years of a should've been a 5 star talent who's the prototype for ND's offense and they have another prototype committed for '18. To not believe in Book and Davis is one thing, to not acknowledge Wimbush & Jurkovec while having ND at his dubious #1 just proves that he isn't providing expert analysis, it proves he's a click whore.

Mike Farrell is the worst. I really dislike this class, but some of the criticism makes no sense to anyone paying attention. "Early takes that are reaches" is literally the opposite of the problem. We needed to take way more guys early instead of getting complacent with a class that wasn't full and wishing for guys who clearly weren't coming here. "Help themselves enough at QB" well I'm sorry you don't think an All-American is a good enough get when there's a borderline 5:s: committed in the class coming behind? Who else are you going to get to take that spot? It's like he's not even trying to understand the problem.

I mean that seriously think about how different we would feel about the class if we pushed for Martin hard in the summer, landed Hippenhammer, took Paschal's commit instead of being "full," etc. If you add another 8ish solid 3:s:/4:s: bodies to this class it goes from being "completely unacceptable and scary for the future" to "very decent depth but not a lot of stars."

Basically the only coach who correctly recruited a "Tier 2" guy when the Plan As fell through was Harry Hiestand. Hiestand went out and got a guy who wants to be here (Gibbons) + two very good prospects (Lugg + Hainsey), and then when it became clear he likely wasn't going to land a 5:s: to finish the class he signed a high upside prospect in Banks. If every position coach recruited how Hiestand does every cycle, we'd finish in the top 5 of recruiting rankings every year and have no roster holes.
