ND had been in contact recently. Was one of the guys I would have targeted. Big, fast, productive... Catholic(prolly). From the looks of his films and stat sheets, UNC's getting a good one. Good friends with Gavin Holmes.

Gotcha...didn't think about that but that does happen a lot. Not this time. I would definitely use italics if that were the case

Nothing else at this time. I report what I hear unless I am asked to hold off. There have been times "I knew it a month ago" but couldn't say anything and someone else would break the news. Once I can post it...I do.

Looks like Odua's going to get his offer finally. They'd been in contact with him for a bit but this afternoon all the follows hit including BK. Thank goodness, he didn't make the US Army Bowl on his good looks alone. I think this calls for a profile.

BJ Thompson's has an interesting film. He also has Michigan and Stanford all over him this week. I'll be interested in seeing where that goes. 6-7, 200lb Flex on O. Not your everyday package.

Why are we even looking at them. Ironside just did a piece on Irish247 on how the 3 star D-Tackles are either under coached or not good enough to play on the level we want to play on. It is Notre Dame? Nothing against GBdomer. I just wish we could report on us flipping 4 and 5 star recruits that is what we need to win and be playing in the final 4.

You're asking the wrong question.

The question you should be asking is why didn't ND offer Odua Isibor last year.

He only turned out to be an Army All-American. He's a stat monster against top level opponents and he's a 4.3 student at a premier Catholic prep school

Throw the stars out the window and watch some film.

I absolutely agree that was a dumb post. But, to be fair, a lot of us aren't expert film-watchers. You usually have to know something about the position and competition level and even then they're highly edited. To a lay person all these kids look like studs on their tape.
The star ratings can serve a purpose. So can the offer list. Especially the offer list.

Agreed. I was talking about Isibor's case specifically. IDidn't mean throw out the stars entirely. They work 80-85% of the time.

This is one of those cases where you can trust a highlight film. I've seen this kid live playing against a Top 20 national team and if they didn't have four DI OL's he would have killed somebody.

I know some still expected us to fill the class. How realistic is that now that we are starting to look at option D's?

Where are all these kids that want to be at ND?

You're right, it's not. BUT there are a lot of guys who are ND fans that ND ignores for too long and those guys get a taste of the business and lose that fandom.

During the '15 season, they had Dax Holifield on campus for the Navy game. They didn't come up from NC because they hate Notre Dame. He's one of the Top 5 OA LB's in the country and they still haven't offered.

They slow played AJ Dillon instead of locking that kid during the '14 season. When I posted his profile in June of '15, he already had 4 CB's to ND and offers from all the NE schools. That's lazy not to know Thom Gatewood's grandson is going to be ND level player. Hell he was already 215 running 4.6's as a soph.

Last one for now cuz I have too many of em, is AJ's HS teammate Finn Dirstine. Finn's 6-5, 320 OL 4 star College OG who is a very good athlete for his size. More importantly he's been all over ND's jock from Day 1. He's unofficialed the last two years, his background on his 247 and twitter pages were ND pics, his profile pics are ND related. Still no offer or if you are slow playing him at least leak his name to the analysts so they are tweeting him up. Kids need to see that. We don't need anymore, Pat Fitzgerald, Mike Alstott, Luke Kuechly or Zeke Elliot stories to pass around. When a kid digs you, close him.

Scout took its final shot at ranking the recruits in the 2017 class on Wednesday.

Nine Notre Dame commits or early enrollees made the Scout 300:

Brock Wright — No. 76 overall, No. 3 tight end

David Adams — No. 88 overall, No. 4 inside linebacker

Josh Lugg — No. 107 overall, No. 12 offensive tackle

Cole Kmet — No. 109 overall, No. 4 tight end

Robert Hainsey — No. 129 overall, No. 14 offensive tackle

Darnell Ewell — No. 146 overall, No. 7 offensive guard

CJ Holmes — No. 155 overall, No. 9 athlete

Aaron Banks — No. 163 overall, No. 9 offensive guard

Avery Davis — No. 189 overall, No. 11 quarterback

Wright, Hainsey, Holmes and Banks started classes at Notre Dame as early enrollees earlier this week.

Eight members of Notre Dame’s recruiting class were included in the previously released Rivals 250. Six made the Top 247 from 247Sports.
