I don't have any problem with the comparisons to Tuitt (as a freshman). I mean, if we are to believe what BK says about him being the most impressive player he's seen in 25 years (or whatever he said), wouldn't that mean Tillery > Tuitt as a freshman? I think we need to see him play in a game before going that far, but it's not crazy.

Where you lose me, and 99.9999% of ND/CFB fans, is when you proclaim Rochell and Tillery to "probably be the most powerful tandem on defense in the country". That's just ridiculous and deserves criticism.

I like you as a poster though. Sure you say some ridiculous shit but you're entertaining and obviously passionate about ND football. I hate when the cyber bullies come out of the woodwork and pile on you. It's embarrassing but I guess now that Koon is gone they need someone to rag on from momma's basement. I don't sign on/post much anymore but if I did I'd come to your defense more often. However, statements about Rochell/Tillery are indefensible. But, keep being you. I'll take your sunshine and rainbows over some of the other crap that gets posted on here daily.

I agree 1000% with half of your post. The Tuitt comparison is whatever for me. Fans do that all the time. It was his assertion about the tandem being the most powerful in the nation is what got me.

But the part about piling on, I don't agree with. It's a message board. When you say stupid shit, people are going to respond. When you say stupid things all the damn time, people are really going to respond.

People will accuse me of piling on Sean, but that's not the case in my eyes bc I'm not worrying about what others have responded to him - I'm just responding to what he wrote. Others are doing the same. He says crazy stuff, and then gets mad when people disagree. He's threatened multiple times to quit the site and/or just stop posting...if he can't handle the responses, he really should stop posting. Or, do better. If not, he should just do what you said, keep posting, but he should accept that it will elicit responses bc the truth is, his over-the-top assertions that he passes as fact (especially when it comes to recruiting...holy crap) will continue to piss people off.

Re: the 1st bolded sentence...I thought your criticism was spot on. You said what everyone was thinking and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Re: the 2nd bolded sentence...I think there's a difference between responding to a post/opinion you don't agree with and "piling on". I think it's constantly bringing up past posts/opinions to make your point that crosses the line. Hey, we get that he said last year's tandem of Stanley/Elmer would be better than Martin/Watt. In fact, you've reminded us of this several times in 2015. Let. It. Go. In my mind, that could be considered "piling on", as well as all the other posters that chime in with the same thoughts/opinions just to tell him how dumb his opinion is. As someone else said, just ignore him if you don't respect his opinion. At a minimum, stop bringing up every ridiculous opinion he's had in the past to make your point about the most recent ridiculous opinion or to remind people that his opinions can be far fetched. I think he brings some great points to the board. You just have to sift through some of the head shakers to find them.

As someone that reads the board religiously on a daily basis, seeing posters insult each other or put each other down really turns me off. I appreciate the intelligent and respectful debates that end with posters agreeing to disagree. With that said, I get that we are in the dog days of the off-season. Tensions are always high.

Honestly though, you guys do realize we have one of the most talented teams in the country, right? We are poised to make a run at the playoffs and National Championship. Lighten up and enjoy. It's a great time to be a fan of the Fighting Irish!

This^ Not pointed to anyone in particular but I have observed this "group think" behavior before. It's a huge turn off and makes me always think twice before I post, ergo I just don't post often.
Just my $.02.

Back to the thread- I'm liking what We're
hearing from camp so far, but I have tended to persure more of a wait and see how things go in the B&G game before I start to go all "Koon" on a player.
I think we'll be fine up front, but I'm cautiously optimistic about the back end of the D, that's whats where I want to hear the praises now and the see the results come the spring game.

Boy, I missed quite a bit didn't I? Okay, first off. What I said wasn't meant to offend Bogs, I like Bogs, he's a pretty cool guy. He was great in that thing. I was more mad at the fact that we were ALL gushing about Tillery, and once I put my two cents in, suddenly I'm out of order. That's all. I don't mind getting poked fun at for being overly optimistic, like once that DJ Morgan stuff blew over and I saw a few times "The next Sua Cravens" on few other recruits boards, I'm all for that. It's all in good fun. I may be sour at first, but I get over it quickly. I just don't like it when I'm just getting absolutely blasted for stuff.

In terms of my opinions on Tillery and Rochell, which seemed to be the one that actually created the argument, I stand by them. I said they'd form arguably the strongest tandem on the DL. That's a pretty fair argument. Note that I said STRONGEST, not best. Tillery and Rochell are pretty damn strong dudes, and I think we can all agree on that.

I appreciate the defending from certain people on here who are just trying to put me down for sh*ts and giggles.

As for NDinLA, I find that we tend to agree more often than disagree. It just seems like when we do disagree, it goes nuclear on a thread.

Sorry to Bogs, and anyone if I inadvertently stepped on a few toes.

I dunno. Just stating my peace, to get this back on topic.

I recognize that this is how we police ourselves, but we sure do pile on at times...especially in the off-season when the pace is a bit slow.

I don't know what the percentage is, but I would guess the vast majority of the people on here disagree with Crazy, myself included. However, as I have said before, read his comment and move on if you don't like it or agree with it. He is who he is and he's not changing. Commenting on his posts hasn't changed him to date. Continuing to comment isn't going to either.

I have no toes in this foot fetish.

So its all good, bro.

In fact, I will take my earlier point this far. See, I understand the basis and reason for you talking about the "power" of Tillery and Rochell.

Anybody care to watch last year's game tapes of Rochell? Other than the games he was dealing with injury, or forced to play out of position, he looked incredibly skrong, and quite brollic. Anybody get a good view of the Stanford game? It shows him regularly abusing and overpowering a college AA and first round draft selection. All day long. Even though there were a few incredible highlight examples.

So I see the strong theme formation. But the problem is you sound (though haven't actually said so) to have promoted Tillery to a first team position. A few problems with that : Jaron Jones, Sheldon Day, and it is a long time until September. Forget about Tillery digging a ditch like so many eighteen year olds are prone to do. There are so many other, uncontrollable factors that come up between May and September.

Do I hope you are right? Hail yas!

A good theme would be to keep tabs on the strength of our defensive line, by player. I think it would be interesting to see how the third string dt's today compare to our starters of recent yesteryear.

Rephrased:

"Normally when someone says something dumb, we disagree and generally it ends with someone changing their mind or we end up with a respectful disagreement. However, Sean has repeatedly shown that he is so consistently dumb and so unflinchingly aggressive in his assurance of his own correctness that we need to treat him special. Think of him like that weird smelling kid in the class. Ignore him and maybe he'll go away."

If Tillery and Rochelle "arguably" form the strongest tandem, then what other duos are in the running for this title?

One of my favorite all time TV episodes. The dungeons and dragons episode also takes a place on that list. Yahoo has released a few of the episodes for this next season but I haven't had a chance to watch. It's a shame they couldn't keep Troy and Pierce on the show. Dan Harmon really is ahead of the curve.

According to Collinsworth, Justin Brent is our biggest WR as well......what a clown.

yeah... What a clown

I guess that's what we call current Notre Dame students covering spring practice to learn the business he wants to go into. A guy that has filled a void for us fans while other guys were off covering our basketball team's tourney run.

I'm sure you never had to learn your job either, right? Calling one of our own a clown for getting after his dream while supporting the school. I think it's easy to see who the clown really is...

Did he mean JB is the heaviest or tallest? Because he is most certainly the most physically imposing / strongest wide receiver on the roster.

We do get an honorable mention in the WR category.

If ND's corp gets just an honorable mention, we can already deem how "credible" those lists really are....Michigan D-Line...Hello? Yes this is drugs.

The bolded made me laugh. But, in all honesty, adding a couple posters to ignore list has made my reading/posting here much more enjoyable. Worth a try as u can always take posters back off the list if u don't like posts being hidden.

True, but Jones is gonna have to return in tip top shape and fix his consistency issues. If not, Tillery can and will take his spot. Even then, if he does, that's still a damn strong tandem. Jones, when he's on, is the best lineman we have. The problem is, he's on one play and then off the next 2-3. He could very easily pull a Tuitt, gain 20-30 pounds of bad weight and fall off the map big time. Not trying to be negative, but Jones has Tillery breathing down his neck.

Tillery is showing consistency that you just don't see from a freshmen. I don't see Tillery as a 3-tech, so Day is very much safe (though Hayes is coming along quite nicely too). Could he move there? Sure, he has the hands, strength and athleticism to play practically anywhere on the line. But he's best suited as a NT, where his mass can be best utilized as a stop gap up front.

I do quite like our depth at NT and 3T. Now if only our DE's could learn how to get off blocks consistently. From what I heard, they were getting killed off the edge (though against Stanley and McGlinchey, it may not be their fault).
