Best game-changing defensive play I can remember. It's not like we were going to lose but in a single defensive act, he punched the ball out and prevented 7 pts, then recovered and gave us another possession. 14 pt swing by one player not giving up.

I seriously can't remember another play by a single player like that For an entire defense, the Stanford goal line stand was great but single defensive player heroics are hard to produce.

Deke Cooper against BC in '98 still sticks out, but yeah doesn't happen often.

what a great play that was. unblocked to stop mike cloud in the backfield, thought for sure cloud would score.

I also like allen rossum in '95 at Washington, pick 6 at the end of the game to secure the win after Udub drove into field goal range to kick the game winner.

Tommy yanking the ball right out of Michigan State's hands, as they were driving to score, and running it back for a TD is another defensive player heroic effort. It ended up being the difference in the game, and the QB delayed reaction is great:

Dude was a great playmaker.

He was Honeybadger before Honeybadger. Special teams/ball hawk nightmare for opposing teams.

are you ***king kidding me? Poor kid. He is a play maker. Hope he can bounce back from yet another set back.

Next man up. Vaughn? Griffith? Boykin? Heard he was making plays during fall camp.

Jamie at ISD already has a "who replaces Crawford" piece up, and it's either DJ Brown, Tariq Bracy, or Houston Griffith.

With it sounding like it's leaning towards DJ Brown. Gulp.

Man that really sucks. I thought he was going to come into his own this year. How annoying and unfortunate. 2 acl's and an achilles. I think this might be it for him in terms of football. That shakes a few things up with our DB's. I knew the no injury news seemed too good to be true. Feel bad for him.

Feel bad for him. 3 season ending injuries in 4 seasons?

Good thing we're deep in the secondary. I can see Coleman playing Crawford's spot when they go Nickel and playing Griffith at FS.

I doubt it. That seems like more pressure than Kelly has been willing to put on a freshman in the opener. If you are UM, you'd target him all day.

The only one of that bunch I could see is Griffith, because of IMG and early enrolling, but I still expect it to be Coleman on Saturday.

Pete Sampson says John Crawford (Shaun's dad) would not confirm the report of a torn ACL. Family awaiting word from ND. Also, I could have swore I saw him out at practice in clips from yesterday. Could be wrong. Probably wrong, but just wanted to throw this out there.

It's...all a ploy to throw off Harbaugh?

Sampson specualtes that:

1) Coleman to nickel
2) Love/Pride not moving at corner
3) More safety work for Houston and Jalen

I wonder what Vaughn could do at nickel?

So Coleman stays at safety but slides to nickle, and then Houston and Jalen come in.

Ugh.

I trust Houston. I just can't with either Elliot or Studstill though. I've seen them be slow to the spot, and miss too many tackles.

LSU game this afternoon cemented my feelings on both.

He's been one of the best defenders all camp...

Did you mean Elliott?

Does anyone know what Vaughn's flexibility is like?

I hear him getting rave reviews, but not much elaboration. Would be huge if he could just plug in for Shaun and rest of rotation stays the same...Hope his crosstraining started today.

Not saying you're wrong about Elliot or Studstill, but Elliot was getting a decent amount of praise from BK this camp.

Also, its cool and all to watch film and evaluate, but the LSU was 9 months ago. It's not really fair or realistic to think that these guys haven't gotten better.

Problem with Vaughn is that he's our biggest corner. Usually, nickel backs are shorter and quick. Not saying Vaughn can't do it, but his physical stature best fits on the boundary and not the slot.
